Hearing this song when your dad is gone is a whole different level of understanding, everything he ever told me was true. Once your Daddy is gone, life is never the same.
I understand how you feel, my dad left us in 2012 and my grandfather left us in 2019 and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss them and when I listen to this song it brings me back to the lessons they taught me. Granted I may only have just turned 26 but this is the generation of country music is was raised on.
How I do understand. This song reminds me so much of my Dad. He was a working class blue collar guy who never had a lot of fancy things, and knew what really mattered. Everything he did in this life, he did for me and my Mom. I was their only child, and while they weren’t at all rich, they never denied me anything affordable. But in everything they bought for me over the years, none of it means anything in what they gave me in love, learning, family bonding, and knowing God. I lost them both five years ago, within six months of each other and miss them everyday, but I will forever value the legacy they gave me, and anticipate the day we are together again. Love and miss you Mom and Dad. I’ll give the girls a kiss from Mimi and Papa.❤️
I lost my dad today. I remember listening to this on the radio when it was released. He never could afford a Cadillac but he spent his life working on other folks cars. I went underground to be able to buy my own Cadillac and when I finally did I was so proud of it. I’d gladly trade it for just a second with him to apologize for all my foolishness. Nothing in this world is as precious as time folks, nothing!
My Daddy was born 1925 In Dahlonega, Ga ( 14 miles from where I live ), He quit school in 2nd grade to help His Daddy on the farm . Daddy was a MAN like no other that’s I’ve ever known . Hardest working Man ! We ( Me & My 7 Siblings) put Him in His Overalls whenever He was buried ♥️. Daddy Never was the Cadillac kind !
This is David's girlfriend and he loved his Dad with all of his heart! It's been along time since he died but he thinks about him everyday,! HE LOVED HIS DAD TO THE MOON THE BACK❤
Yes you're dad was right it's terrible that people would rather charge it than just save up for what you want last summer I quit stopping at the gas station on my way to work for a snack well I put money aside my husband laughed at the time well he's not laughing now it bought him recliner I don't think people realize the money they spend
My dad worked for GM for 40 years and always refused to drive a Cadillac. Cadillacs were for “people that were trying to act rich with a flashy car”. He was a great man and understood the value of a dollar. No credit, just cash for his cars. Thanks for sharing this.
My granddaddy understood the value of the dollar as well. He never bought anything on credit, always paid cash. He almost bought my grandma a Cadillac one time but changed his mind and bought her a Buick instead. He tried so hard to instill the same values in my head but I have always been so hardheaded, now at 42 I wish I would’ve listened to him. He lived to be 91yo.
I grew up in the coal area of the north. Poor. Chevy trucks. Five kids. Log house. This song speaks for a proud segment in our country. Let's not forget...
I can't believe that the ass holes ask Confederate railroad to change their name this shit has gone to far everything is discrimination to these fucking negors anymore I stand behind Confederate railroad one hundred percent sure
Dear Confederate Railroad, Please don’t ever cave to the pressure. They can’t rip everything down. Sincerely, someone who understands that our history while not perfect is still our history.

This song describes my dad to a T. My dad never owned a Cadillac, he never wanted the best clothes, he wanted to make sure his family was provided for, he was a simple man who loved God and loved his family, and wanted them best for them, often sacrificing things he'd like for his family. Love and Miss him...this Nov. will be 2 years since he passed. He was a great man who taught me so much.
I know the heartache. My daddy just passed away November 13th. A simple soul, lovable, hardworking and loves Jesus. He always placed us first and made sure all was provided with what his hands and back could support. While putting away some of his belongings days after the funeral this song came on. I totally forgot it was on my playlist. Lost the feeling on my legs and collapsed. We love you PapaJuan. We will always, always love you. God bless all daddies.
Oh the Great 90s country John Michael Montgomery, Colllin Raye, Sammy Kershaw,Dwight Yoachim, I could go on forever, Joe Diffie and Kenny Rogers we will miss you forever but your music Lives on in our hearts!!!❤️
I love the end of this video when all the workers stop and pay respects as he rides by, damn near brings a tear to my eyes to think about how these newer generations have gotten from this kind of thinking.

Lost my Dad 03/19/2022. He had just got a brand new truck. He worked most of his adult life underground in the coal mines and retired as a state mine inspector in 2005. This song hits differently now that he’s gone. I’m in tears as I write this. RIP Pops. Love and miss you always. Thank you for giving me life. ❤️
My uncles & grandfathers worked in the Colorado coal mines, god bless ur dad he & many others like him built this country chasing the american dream. God bless🙏
My Daddy wasn't a miner; but he worked hard in steel and wire mills, painted and remodeled houses, and did whatever was needed to make sure we never saw an empty plate! I miss my Daddy so!!!

The Republicans or accused of being racist, but I watched the Democratic debates just to see who was going to offer the most handouts and all I heard was white this and black that! I have never heard that in a Republican debate.
@G H I don't know of anyone in Southern Illinois who has voted for ANY of the past few Governors or the corrupt politicians from Chicago. Chicago runs illinois politically. I don't know who you think you are but you had better do your homework before making a blanket statement like that.
Just as George Jones sang this and it brought tears to my eyes. I was so young then. Alan Jackson does an amazing rendition of this well loved song still tears in 2024😢
My Dad was the epitome of this song. When he died in 2013, after serving four years in the US Air Force and 22 years as a city cop, he said he wanted no color guard at his funeral. I boldly answered, that wish will not be honored. The color guard from Wright Patterson UF bade paid Dad their final respect. That was wonderful! The sincere condolences they showed to my mother was worth the phone call.
A few days before my dad passed away in 2005 I heard this song on the radio and immediately thought of my dad and how similar our relationship was. So, I downloaded the song and planned to take it to his house later that evening to play it for him. Somehow, I forgot to bring the song with me and when I was talking with my dad alone I began to mention that I intended to bring a song with me that I thought he would like to hear. Before I could tell him, he took a notepaper out of the nightstand drawer and on the paper he had written, "Could you find this song and bring it with you when you come over tomorrow?" The song he was referring to was, "Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind". At the end of my dad's life, it was good to know we were both on the same page.
That's a good story man. My dad is the same way, although he is still alive, and I hope he will be for many many years to come, he's only 62, I work in the family electrical contracting business, a trade my dad taught me ever since i was about 10. Although I don't think he has ever heard this song, he has told me more than once that "son, you don't ever need to make a million dollars, if you are doing what you are able to do every day and putting food on the table and a roof over your head, then you are a real man no matter what anyone thinks or says" My dad gave me the life skills, trade skills, and wisdom to provide me with the means to live a fulfilling life, and I never saw him miss a day of work in 33 years.. Im not getting rich, but I am doing well for myself thanks to him. That's worth more to me than any winning lottery ticket in the world.
Depends on who u ask another good song is aaron tippin got to stand for somthing but people don't stand for anything anymore then call there selvs men haha what a joak
You have to remember music is kind of like region in a way it can reach deep in to the heart we hope, dreams, love and fear live were some say Angles fear to tread it can mean so much to so many but not all ways the same meaning at times Country like rock & Roll, folk or protest songs like come out ye Black & Tans which was born out of the deaths of hell from those who live through it on both sides Music is to the ears like a good runing engine or art to the eyes or a good meal to the nose and mouth from its taste. The US like all nations have changed so much and will never stop changing and good music like good food & people come in all nations, walks of life from dirt poor street people to what some call Blue Bloods May music like good people, food and days never leave this world for it would be a darker place without it. and those to come would have no hope of love, trust and dreams could die a slow death We owe so much to those of the past from Cold miners to vets and a police officer as well to mothers & fathers who have done their best t make the world a better place Music like life can be looked at in many ways as they say this song to me like so may has roots deep in history and life with words of wisdom for all to see and learn from
@@johnrodems6360 what in the fuck does this song or this band getting banned from playing the concert they were booked for have any goddamned thing to do with Trump you fucking piece of trash
when you leave like that , with the men removing their hats from their soiled faces, leathered skin, and work hardened hands, you know you have lived among the best. What more could you ask for. He had his eye fixed on other treasures not the worlds.
Love my daddy !!! 8 kids he raised up on one income home . We were far from rich but some how he made sure we had beach vacations Walt Disney world all kinds of things that now I'm a grandma and mother I don't know how he ever made it .He never had a Cadillac
This fit my father to a T. He was a very hard worker, but he never seemed to be able to get ahead. We may have been poor, but we had love and respect for each other. That is all we needed. If it wasn't a necessity, we didn't get it. My father was too proud to ask for help.
I am a PROUD grandson of a coal miner who worked in the mines of Pennsylvania. I never had a "daddy" in my life but my grandpap has been a source of inspiration to me cause he was a hard working man...a man's man! He's gone now but my pride for him will never diminish! God Bless all the hard working men who made this nation prosper!!!
+majic 44 the lyrics and the video reminds me of my late grand pa who worked in an american owned goldmine here in the philippines as a miner for 40 years to feed mom and her siblings. he is a poor man but made sure that they have the basic needs and made sure that his kids go to school and went to church on sunday. " be thankful always' be a good as God says and let no man fool you." he always told.. he died at 93..5 years ago.. have a blessed day
My dads dieing of cancer right now we don’t know how much longer he has to live and this song is one of me and his songs we sing together. Always my fathers right hand man. Since I was a child I’ve always wanted my dad and he was in prison and In addiction most my life but now we bond and argue spending rest of his time together till the lord takes him ☮️✅🙏💯
What an amazing sound and group of raw talent. It saddens me that Nashville would rather play hip hop crap instead of the true country music we all deserve to hear.
Keep up the good work Confederate Railroad. Keep our country's history and heritage flying high!! Thank You, Who cares what new York or Illinois people think!!
I heard this song on the radio the other night. I couldn't believe it. I mean nothing against new country but stations need to play the classics once in a while. The classics will never die. That's what was true country.
I agree i just lost my father we laying him to rest today and this is my Daddy. I agree I dislike modern country but this are the best. thank you confederate railroad.
My daddy passed in 2008 this song still hits different now r.i.p old man I love you and miss you and remember every word you have every told me David Kay Miller
I lost my daddy suddenly Jan 23rd 2020. He was not just my pops but my best friend! He was the glue that held us and now it's been on me. If I ever live long enough to be half the dad he didn't half to be i think ill be ok.
That was the way my Daddy was. We didn't have money, but we had a lot of LOVE. PRAISE GOD FOR MY RAISING. I COULDN'T HAVE HAD BETTER PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. THANK God for His Amazing love and mercy
I'm just 15 years old I can't imagine the day my dad leaves me this is the music he raised me on he bought me my 1961 comet 2 years ago he loves driving that car I just know that it will have to be at his funeral dad turned 59 a week ago I'm worried to lose him
Amen, the last gasp of Nashville. It's rare these days any real country breaks through but most of what is called country today is just pop music pretending it's country.
I second that. Sometimes I run across a newer song that is pretty good, but by and large that is not the case. Whereas nearly every song from the 80's and 90's is TOP NOTCH stuff.
Back to true FEELINGS. HEART AN SOUL. I MISS .I DONT FEEL LOKE THE PERSON AT TIMES THAT WAS RAISED WITH MUSIC. HEART ,TRUTH ,AN REAL PERSON BEHIND IT ALL.80s an 90s. The purest We will ever have .2019 an it's all in feeling, un emotional music. But that is wht music us PERSONALITY, HEART,AN SOUL
Been to over 100 different country concerts and He’s by far the nicest most down to earth guy there is, he came sat with us after concert and ate and drank and bullshitted hell of a nice guy
Lost my grandfather in 2004, Dad is 75 now, can't imagine life without him. Amazing how the men in our lives taught us so much except how to lose that special someone in our lives.
I want to dedicate this song to my Daddy. He was the first to rise in the morning and the last to bed at night. I am so fortunate to have this selfless man to call MY DADDY. This song defines him to a t...I will ALWAYS be a DADDYS GIRL!!!♡♡♡
I really Miss my Pops Song always bings me Back to set back out on the front porch,, I wish I can see him just to talk one more time .... I keep what I need inside and keep him in my heart forever!! I Miss you Big Bobby
I totaled my old mans El Dorado in 88, he just came and got me out of jail, sat me down for a short talk and next thing I knew I was heading to Basic Training in Fort Sill, lmao. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm 56 now and already retired after my time in the Army and 22 years with the VA. I really miss that guy.
Wats crazy is that im born in Georgia and I never know what racism was cause they taught me in school to be respectful and kind. I was raise to be a southern gentlemen. And everytime I play this old country music, where ever I go I get wired looks from older white people on why I listen to their music. Cause im not white im Asian. Born in Gainesville Georgia 1997. Still love america and im still proud to be born where im at.
This song reminds me a lot of my dad. He never drove a Cadillac. He always made sure that we always had everything that we needed. I lost him to cancer 12 years ago. I have to say that who I am today and everything that I believe in is a result of everything he taught me while I was growing up. He taught me about responsibility. Dad I love you and miss you very much
My dad bought used caddy's, my momma liked big cars and he drove them in the field throwing peanut hulls in the floorboard. That's how he rolled. She missed him something awful after he died
This song hits me deep right in the heart because I live and have grown up in West Virginia and my late pawpaw absolutely adored this song and was just like one of the people in this song, not one to buy a Cadillac.
my father is my hero, A Vietnam vet, i myself a vet of operations OIF and OEF. he always made sure we never did without. now im grown, and now i make sure my children have everything they need. and now i understand, the more i give them, the more they want.
I was raised in mid Missouri, my father was a retired Army Staff sergeant. We played this song at his viewing, well because Daddy never was the Cadillac kind! Growing up Our father didn't make alot of money, he worked in the tiff ( its hard to explain exactly what TIFF is but it was mined in all around where I grew up) mill across the highway from our home. When the mill closed in the late 70s my father went to beautition school, where some weeks he only made $35. Now at 49 I'm very proud of the way I was raised by my parents, I also retired from the Army as a staff sergeant. I am also a disabled veteran and can't work because of injuries I suffered in the Iraq war. It was so very hard to watch cancer take my Dad from the man who raised me to the man that passed away in his home. (After his funeral I never wanted to hear Taps ever again). In the months following his death we learned he had three Bronze stars and two silver stars from the Korean war and the Vietnam war. He hardly spoke of his tours of duty. I never under stood why, until serving in the Iraq war and in Bosnia. I understand now. Dad, you'll always be my roll model and I hope I can be the father to my son's.( We can't spank our kids with a leather belt these days, if we could maybe there wouldnt be so much disrespect in kids )as you were to me and my brothers and sisters. We love you Dad and we all have alot of pride in the way you and Mom raised us!
In an era filled with great music and new forming pop type songs. Songs from this band were about in the middle of the pack. Now listening to it several years removed. Considering the TRASH they play on the radio today. These songs sound like pure Country Gold.

Remind me of my daddy. Tough as nails humble and fair and loved Jesus Christ. RIP dad till i see you again.
My dad also passed in 2005
That's a good story man.
Eerie!
Steven Spolar that's sad😢
Bob Silver that's sad😢
Will be listening forever. Because my values don't change with the times.
Yessir
Amen!🙏🙏🙏

The Coal Mine scenes and hearse with miners filmed at the Historic Dunlap Coke Ovens Park and Coal mining museum in Dunlap, TN. 350 Mountain Vew Road.
I tear up every time I hear this song. I sure miss my dad
Same here
when country was worth a damn
Hear! Hear!
You have to remember music is kind of like region in a way it can reach deep in to the heart we hope, dreams, love and fear live were some say Angles fear to tread
it can mean so much to so many but not all ways the same meaning at times
Country like rock & Roll, folk or protest songs like come out ye Black & Tans which was born out of the deaths of hell from those who live through it on both sides
Music is to the ears like a good runing engine or art to the eyes or a good meal to the nose and mouth from its taste.
The US like all nations have changed so much and will never stop changing and good music like good food & people come in all nations, walks of life from dirt poor street people to what some call Blue Bloods
May music like good people, food and days never leave this world for it would be a darker place without it. and those to come would have no hope of love, trust and dreams could die a slow death
We owe so much to those of the past from Cold miners to vets and a police officer as well to mothers & fathers who have done their best t make the world a better place
Music like life can be looked at in many ways
as they say this song to me like so may has roots deep in history and life with words of wisdom for all to see and learn from
@@johnrodems6360 what are you rambling about?
@@johnrodems6360 what in the fuck does this song or this band getting banned from playing the concert they were booked for have any goddamned thing to do with Trump you fucking piece of trash
John Rodems, Mental illness is nothing to be proud of.
That was when people could appreciate some one and what they did for them now they dont care
all the miners at the end, their show of respect, makes me a little teary eyed. I have always loved this song.
when you leave like that , with the men removing their hats from their soiled faces, leathered skin, and work hardened hands, you know you have lived among the best. What more could you ask for. He had his eye fixed on other treasures not the worlds.
The Bro-Country school of music these days has taken all the soul out of the music. I prefer to listen to the older tunes like this.
Who doesn't?
Candace Casey oh, idk Jason Aldean fans and Luke Bryan fans or Keith urban fans
Love this song.
Miss real country
One of my favorites that never gets old.
There’s no voice like Danny Shirley’s. I listen to this song regularly to remember what truly matters in life.
Another good dad song is the song
"you gotta stand for something "
Miss my Daddy, hard working blue collar man.............
" be thankful always' be a good as God says and let no man fool you." he always told.. he died at 93..5 years ago.. have a blessed day
+Marco Bitog right on brother....they were great men!!
+Chris McLain that's why I haven't followed the mainstream in years. I'm in my 30s yet listen to 80s country or older
+Keith Stidham im in my 20s and still follow the old 80s and 90s country music
+mark denton Ditto, although I also like very old country like ol' Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Ralph Stanley, or Roscoe Holcomb.
+mark denton I'm 17 and still follow all the old classics
+darron huskey im 19 still followin the classics!
Keep up the good work Confederate Railroad. Keep our country's history and heritage flying high!! Thank You, Who cares what new York or Illinois people think!!
Real country music right here
Hello how are you doing…?
I heard this song on the radio the other night. I couldn't believe it. I mean nothing against new country but stations need to play the classics once in a while. The classics will never die. That's what was true country.
+RainbowDash72 Dang, really? That's awesome. I'm lucky to even hear George Strait or Brooks & Dunn on my local station, haha.
+RainbowDash72 I suport you!..
I agree i just lost my father we laying him to rest today and this is my Daddy. I agree I dislike modern country but this are the best. thank you confederate railroad.
+RainbowDash72 That's a miracle in of itself.
Amen I agre

My daddy passed in 2008 this song still hits different now r.i.p old man I love you and miss you and remember every word you have every told me David Kay Miller

Them boys stopping and showing respect at the end of this video is my favorite part.
True song I love you brittnee
I lost my daddy suddenly Jan 23rd 2020. He was not just my pops but my best friend! He was the glue that held us and now it's been on me. If I ever live long enough to be half the dad he didn't half to be i think ill be ok.
Lost dad 4 year ago, he 2 was a miner so am i, dawn I miss him! Love u dad
That was the way my Daddy was. We didn't have money, but we had a lot of LOVE. PRAISE GOD FOR MY RAISING. I COULDN'T HAVE HAD BETTER PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. THANK God for His Amazing love and mercy

One of the most underrated bands of all time. I’m a under ground coal miner. Love this video. Wish I knew if his dad was really a miner
He was a real miner!! 💯
Dear Lord how I miss real Country Music.
Boy, how have the times changed. I wish it was still that way...
This is real Country music..... 80's 90's country was Magical
Amen, the last gasp of Nashville. It's rare these days any real country breaks through but most of what is called country today is just pop music pretending it's country.
I agree
Both my grandpas still listen to this kind of country and every time I visit them they play it and I never get tired of it.
90s music had feeling, emotions and mullets! can we go back to that please?
Tammy Mott 87dey
I second that. Sometimes I run across a newer song that is pretty good, but by and large that is not the case. Whereas nearly every song from the 80's and 90's is TOP NOTCH stuff.
Rockin my mullet like a champ! 2018
I never left that time
Forgot how good that song was. Brings back memories of my Grandparents.
Best band GOD BLESS DIXIE.
I learn from my dad how to be father like he was to all of us kids to my two kids ok r I p dad
This is country. Much love from East Texas
Back when country was just that...COUNTRY

I want to dedicate this song to my Daddy. He was the first to rise in the morning and the last to bed at night. I am so fortunate to have this selfless man to call MY DADDY. This song defines him to a t...I will ALWAYS be a DADDYS GIRL!!!♡♡♡
Dear Confederate Railroad. We love you here in Canada too! Great song!
I really Miss my Pops
Song always bings me Back to set back out on the front porch,, I wish I can see him just to talk one more time .... I keep what I need inside and keep him in my heart forever!! I Miss you Big Bobby
Happy Father's Day everyone hoping you still have yours
Real country, great talent, greatly missed.
so true I love country music like this
Hope Y'all don't mind if I praise Ur daddy cause my daddy was a bad man. Much Love 2 Y'all. 💖🤠
I am very blessed to have my dad he is a great man and wants the best for his family ❤
If I could bring back my dad and my grandparents this would be them. My mom is still alive at 84 and she is the same way.
I'm a big metal-head, and this song still makes me tear up. I have loved this song since I was a kid.
my father is my hero, A Vietnam vet, i myself a vet of operations OIF and OEF. he always made sure we never did without. now im grown, and now i make sure my children have everything they need. and now i understand, the more i give them, the more they want.
Got to see Confederate railroad sing this live back in the early 90's. Now this was real country music!
Dad always wanted to have Cadillac but never owned one. He took his last ride in one a year ago. Miss you Dad-now and always.
In an era filled with great music and new forming pop type songs. Songs from this band were about in the middle of the pack. Now listening to it several years removed. Considering the TRASH they play on the radio today. These songs sound like pure Country Gold.
My Daddy was like the man in this song. I love it. It does make me miss my Father & it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
Me too cried on.hearing it
