EASY PHRASES FOR VACATION IN ITALY: How to Be Polite & Show Good Manners in Italian

  • This week I'm focusing on how to master good manners while on holiday in Italy as a tourist. With some polite key words or phrases you can have a much deeper and more authentic experience of Italy while being culturally sensitive and respectful. This is easy Italian for beginners with some more advanced phrases for those who have been studying Italian for a while.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.
Please don't follow me on Facebook as that person is not me - they have stolen my identity for the past few years. LOVED this and completely agree. Even if your Italian is not perfect, making an effort to speak Italian and showing respect and good manners goes a long way in Italy.

Do you enjoy making Learn Italian videos? They’re probably one of my favorite types of videos you create (if I had to pick a favorite) it’s like chatting with a friend, and it’s such an organic way to practice, I truly appreciate it and I’m sure everyone else does. I hope it is as enjoyable for you as it is to watch it!

Sorry, I didn’t answer your question. Yes, I love making them because I understand so intimately the frustration of wanting to be fluent and I really feel passionate about helping fellow language lovers. I really enjoy pushing myself to design the perfect lesson that would have helped me all those years ago. 😊

@@KylieFlavell Haha you don’t have to apologize, thank you for taking the time to respond to as many comments as you can. Get some rest when you can, you deserve it 🌙 and I’m glad you enjoy it! I feel the same when I teach ASL or Spanish to my friends, it’s gratifying knowing you’re helping people who love a language just as much as you 💛

Another exceptional Italian lesson. Just the other day, I was waiting for a salesman to be free at a store and an older gentleman was standing nearby. I didn't in know how to ask if he was in line, so I asked, "Aspetta." He hesitated, so I knew it wasn't quite right, but with my hand gestures he got it and nodded affirmatively. Now, I can ask "È in fila?" Living in Italy for a year now, I hear so many coloquial phrases that are favored. Thanks for all these new ones.

It was 1am, I couldnt sleep, the night before flying out to Rome and a week's tour of Abruzzo, when I came across this video. I understand and read Italian but speaking it is harder as it's not my strongest language (Spanish, Portuguese), tho Italy is my favourite place in the world.
What a good video, how very helpful! And you are delightfu, and very lovelyl. I could be your mum, and unlikely now to move to Italy,, but I'm subscribing to your channel to learn more about the country I love, from you. Thank you for sharing your life here.

Hello beautiful, talented Kylie! We are headed off to a wedding in Ravello in September, and after the wedding off to the island of Ischia. My first language was Italian.. then I went to school and lost my Italian and learned my English here in California. My beautiful Mamma Angela is now deceased, and I have no one to practice my Italian with. However, it has remained within me…as broken as it is. I come to Italy so very often, and I travel through all parts of my beloved Italy! Even though my Italian is broken, people are kind to me. I’ve never had any issues, and I so appreciate all these beautiful phrases and words. As I’m learning your words, I’m thinking 🤔, well , if you hadn’t been taught these proper words by Kylie, how would you have said these phrases in your way and ultimately whether I remember your beautiful Proper Italian, or my broken Italian, I think I manage quite well, and I am so proud of myself for being able to still communicate as I’m 61 years old. Last year when I was in Positano, I was able to meet Nikki from TH-cam with the Positano Diaries. I’m sure you’re well aware of her. Maybe it would be a dream to meet you! I know how private you are, however, and unless I bump into you, I highly doubt it, but I admire you and I give you so many kudos and praises for all the hard work that you do to entertain us here on TH-cam and having us be with you and your family! Ciao for now and I look forward to next Sunday’s video or Monday or whenever😊

Kylie, my wife and I were just in the Vatican area (2011) and stopped in at like a "self serve/buffet" type restaurant and I had to visit the WC and unbeknownst to me there was a lady service person there who apparently gives towels, etc. and I was embarrassed when she was looking for a tip. No one had informed us of this etiquette rule. Unfortunately I was not aware and since my wife was at the table and had the money in her purse, I tried to apologize and told her I had no money and that my wife was upstairs. My observation was that she was upset.
    Thoughts?
I was with a church tour group on a pilgrimage.
Thanks for sharing these tips with us.
Take care, stay safe, God bless and love to you 3. 🤟🏼🖖🏼

Thank you for this, I will be using these polite words. It is so funny you should be talking about being polite and saying "excuse me", I was just having this conversation with my girlfriend about how no one says pardon me or excuse me anymore when they move to get in front of you, interrupt you while speaking, or just in general good manners. It's as if manners just never existed.. or rather maybe just here where I live. Sad.
