I had this problem happen to me this week. Smoke started to come out from under my hood. White smoke at that. I looked at may car and checked for an oil leak and it wasn’t that. My cousin said to check for a coolant leak and he was right. I ordered the part. Just waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for your video, now I know how to change it.
Thanks for the video. A few notes: - My ground nuts were sized together so I did this without removing my harness it was fine - I removed the hex bolt and then pulled the flange with the hose attached out of the car which was easier for me to get the hose off - I didn’t find a need to jack up the car, although I lost about 1/2qt of coolant.
Literally could of done with this video three weeks ago mine failed on the way to work and steam spewed from under my hood and was due the o ring spitting what the benefits from replacing it with an aluminium one I just replaced mine with another plastic one from volkswagon im better to go out and buy the aluminium back one
It’s not technically for turbo coolant feed or return. It’s more of a coolant head bleed port, it shouldn’t have much of any flow just a passage back to the expansion tank to and other various other coolant circuits of that hard line.
@@DadWagon I did chip the upper plastic on mine when buttoning up my IS20 swap, no leaks yet. Didn’t know an aftermarket solution was available. Will keep this in mind if a leak develops.
Thanks so much harry berry. Maybe.... a quarter cup? You are correct - very little came out. I believe resealing the reservoir to create a vacuum and the rear lift helped a lot.
shot in the dark here, but does anyone know offhand where the get the part no of the small angled hose 4:04 which he is able to reuse in this case? In the case of my Alltrack, hose was brittle enough to break apart, I have an old rubber air line hose that I cut to size and mangled in place however I’d like to obtain the oe hose. Excellent video, and props for your build
So I've been on the fence about this part as it's $30 and you usually have to pay another 10 for shipping these days. Meanwhile you can just buy another one made out of plastic from fcpeuro for $6 and just replace it should ever fail.

Sorry to hear but glad you got the part on the way! How did install go?
It went well. Removing the rubber hose was a pain. It was really stuck. But once removed. I installed the part and all is well.
Same thing happened to me today.
@@lowkey5854good luck man. It’s an easy fix if you have the right tools and parts.
@oscarrojas9809 what bit do I need?

Great idea, our alltrack is due for plugs soon and looks like a good cheap upgrade to that part that fails commonly.
Ocorreu comigo hoje e no meu caso saiu quase todo o líquido refrigerante. Percebi pelo vapor saindo do motor. Ótimo vídeo! 👏👍
Beat me to it! Was about to go shoot some video and install this! Well done man!
Look forward to seeing yours as well!
Great video man thank you mine was blown and went ahead and replaced with the same part

Dangggg - sorry to hear that. Glad you got it repaired and for a pretty easy job and $33 bucks - yeah it may be worth it!
I was clueless to this 🤣 Will be doing this also. Thank you for sharing 👍
You bet! Glad you saw it!
I need to order one for my GLI, great video 👍🏽

I realized this post-filming - tried to correct as best as I could - thanks the additional detail, as always!

@@740GLE Same, after removal, I noticed the upper 'rib' on mine had cracks on both sides.
Could this possibly be why I smell coolant after a drive ? 2017 alltrack with 35k
maybe?
Good one!
Perfect install video 👌🏽👌🏽
Thanks JJ
How much coolant leaked out didn't look like much at all? Another great video Thanks DadWagon.

@@DadWagon Did the majority come out the rubber hose or where the flange was? Either way not too much to fret about.
Awesome vid. Thank you 👍

Great Idea!
Anyone know the part number to the hose?
savior
IE makes some good beer holders lol
Indeed
Did you need to bleed the coolant at all?
I did not.
Any idea of tq spec?

That plastic part is gonna leave you high and dry one day. Spend the extra money and do it right.
@@DjCyriss Plastic ones hold up pretty well and most owners would only replace it once during their ownership.
Where I can contact the seller because its only the paypal link
He doesn't have a direct contact option available. He did comment on this video @jjjohnson5413 - maybe you can reach out to him there.
The link for the coolant flange doesn’t work for me.
Thanks for head up.
Just checked it again, can’t seem to get it to fail. Either way; here is the link www.paypal.com/instantcommerce/checkout/9DJDLUREMW5PG
