I love how the machine gun of the mercs is a M2 Browning. Placing a real weapon in a usable chasis for the mechs feels genuinely realistic for a bunch of mercs.
Few people move to private! But how do these people move when the earth is really dangerous? The time when we must protect ourselves, judge ourselves and fight ourselves, is not that close to that age?
Not to mention the fact that A. the Gatling gun properly sounds like one and B. it's not continuously spamming rounds downrange since that could damage the weapon.
It's about $8 for a ton of limestone gravel up here in Canada. Imagine owning an exoframe for working around the property? Need to dig a hole? Get a really big shovel. Need to thin out some trees? Cut them down and carry away the logs with your very own exo. Who wouldn't own one for less than $20 bucks?
it averages about $40 when you consider global prices. even in countries with no local sources of limestone, you'd only be looking at a few hundred bucks an exo.
@@juanmanuelpenaloza9264 so like in Japan they would dress them up like samurai warriors but with pizazz and for the low rider scene the exo will be cover in dress up panel with either candy paints or fancy metal platings with or without engravings, possibly a way to add more hops on the legs
I love how the mercenaries guns are modified American .50 cals which would seem to be a good counter to the light armour on an exo. The little details here are so good.
mecha. Love it too, that seems to be the limit these mechs can handle. 50 cal penetrates their armor, but they would be pretty resilient to basic infantry rifle. I can see these quickly overpowering infantry positions.

@Channel07 it's the tools and tactics that change. The reasons for war never change, whether it be riches, revenge, honor, faith, ideology etc. What's funny is that the exo frame is like going back to knights in armor....but with guns.
@@jaromswenson7541 National standing armies have been around for less time than mercenary/local/fiefdom armies. The beginning of the standing army was mid 1600s. They have defined war since, up until something comes along to change that. In real life military contractors are starting to change this, although they're more of a privatized wing of a national army rather than something akin to a mercenary.

Yep, still waiting for someone to mention this masterpiece. At least my friends who were really into Mechs and realistic military stuff like the tactics, battles, and how they use them really enjoyed it very much.
maybe the client was thinking to employ the mercs only to standby around, not expecting to get attacked for real and thus more expenses now the mercs are actively engaging. But still not an excuse to get greedy, just to save what money he has, he basically throwing away his own guard and losing his entire money making facilities

I like how the mercenaries' .50 HMG weapons were modified so that the disintegrating belts eject from the ejection port and the casings eject downwards from a second hole. Really helping out the ambidextrous pilots here, and a nice touch of how the old American machine guns got a modern touch to it.
I like that you can see the underlying gun used by the EXOs as rifles. First ep had the "bad guys" using what looked like DSHks in a sort of rifle shaped "mount" as a rifle. In this ep you can clearly see the Browning M2 HMG in the gun the mercs had.
The PMC's mech still use IPads as the cockpit screen like the Indian's but so glad this one has a proper mounting unlike the DIY-taped in the Indian mech
Going back at this again, obsolete is maybe the realistic mecha anime after a long time, with so much detail on its mech, warfare, lore, etc. and also usually I am mad at CGI anime, but this implementation of CGI on anime, this is just perfect
If the aliens are a purely spacefaring society then Limestone (Calcium carbonate) that absorbs a shittonne of Co2 could possibly be highly valuable... Or they are just screwing with humans for fun.
Well Limestone takes a good amount of time to form in any significant amounts so the water bodies could have existed a few billion years to a few hundred million years ago, depending on exposure of past deposits by tectonic forces. So who knows. Or they are completely space dwelling and no access to limestone deposits at all.
Yeah , sorta like wood , sure here is common , but you need ALOT of conditions in order to have it and vast majority of the planets doesn't fit said conditions
Obsolete shows the most most accurate depiction of mechas in modern warfare, besides "VOTOMS", or the manga RED EYES. Forget neo evangelion and gundams, that is beyond reasonable considering their building costs, high profile, exposed flat surfaces. Mechas should give way to exo suits or be depicted as they are in "OBSOLETE", high mobility speciality combat veihicles. To be effective they should only be deploid in urban, mountain, forest dense, areas where they have tatical advantage. In retrospective armored veihicles and these mechas would be highly effective if they also had a personal drone to scout individualy or as in a group, concept shown in the manga "Front Mission - Dog Life & Dog Style ".

I love it. This is fairly early for exoframe combat, so before the make wpns designed for the mechs they just upgrade the next gun. I'm pretty sure they are using the browning 50 cal.

I was just about to comment that the writing wasn't too great on this, then I started noticing that the subs are different than the dub. Still something tells me these "Exo suites\frames" are just gonna take over they're own Independence at some point, unless through the first 3 episodes they mention that the suites involve the nervous systems of alien origen for no reason. Basically the writing feels like everything said so far is making things too obvious or just has no point.
I like how animators included real life military equipment and vehicles. Soviet/Post-Soviet/Russian Mi-8 Mi-26 helicopters for transportation, modified .50cal machine guns. Later on we will see how some small countries use BMPs BTRs T-72s, etc. And ak-74s for infantry for example.
This is teaching me a lot about colonization. In school it’s taught to us that colonization is like settlers and almost like an empire, but it’s more like a bank heist except your extracting resources.

So the exo suits are probably old tech they don't need anymore so they came to earth to trade off all their old stock for extremely high value resources. They probably calculated the value of an exo worth of lime stone, 1 ton, not on any notion of fair trade but simply after analyzing earth's human structure and planning the best weight that would allow the propagation and need of the exo suits. At 1 ton, people will consider it as a possible cost and push for everyone to have one and for its use everywhere, effectively creating a massive market demand. If it was 10 tons, it would be unreasonable to ask for one due to the logistical opportunity cost of mining for a single suit.

Interesting that the EXO suits are basically second hand cars that the Peddlers no longer need. Funny if they figure out how to access suit memory (if they have one).
Its pretty funny, but why trade good guns to a developing nation when giving them your hand me downs would be better then what they and their enemy has. I can imagine the peddlers are doing this as a way to make "recycling " their mechs profitable. In other words earth is the dumping ground, and we are paying them for their trash....I love this series.

このシーンは欧米先進諸国がエグゾを毛嫌いする背景（成功者たちがエグゾがもたらす変化を嫌がっている）が良く分かったり、ペドラー達がばらまいているエグゾは使い古しの中古品である可能性（素体表面の状態が各機体ごとに異なる上にどれも傷や焼けた跡らしいので一杯とのこと）が示唆されたりと、重要な伏線がわんさかでしたね。

M2s eject empty cases downward as is, no modification needed
Late to the conversation, but the biggest modification the M2 had was a very short barrel, possibly even shorter than the QCB model.

このアニメは時代設定が2017年頃ということもあって、現代でも開発できそうな（または存在する）技術のみが物語に登場する分、矛盾や無駄のないSFが演出できてていいですね。
プロットが現実的な割りにかなり面白いと思う。どっかにありそうな戦場で任務も失敗して女性の安否も不明、上司に諭され退職OKとネガ要素だらけ、だがそこがいい。
レーザー兵器とかじゃなく実弾武器を使うのが泥臭くて最高

SF映画のようなロコツなのではないにしろ、レーザー兵器なら1話でアイアンドームのように迫撃砲迎撃するのに使ってたね。

レーザーは照射から命中までほとんどタイムラグがないのが強みだから
相手の撃った砲弾にある程度大きさがあって弾速が遅ければ後出しで当てられる
欠点は現代の技術ではまだ高出力化が遅れていて装甲の突破には時間がかかること
だから飛んでくる砲弾や敵が所持してる弾薬類を狙う

今週のObsoleteを観る為に生きてきた
サーベラスの武器がこれまたかっこいい！！M2機関砲のバレルを短くしてエグゾ仕様に改造してたけどデザインが最高に良かった。やっぱこういう作品正規軍よりPMCの装備の方がかっこよく見えちまう

シンプルに興奮する
SFアニメで現実の会社がしかもエグゾで損をしている企業としてコマツの名前が出てきて、日本のアニメも変わったなぁと感じた。
パトレイバーでも陸自の防衛装具メーカーとして出てきたけど、真逆の扱いながら現実感は同じくらいある。
「住み分け」を出来るかどうかで、企業がどうなるかは変わるでしょうね。日立建機（ASTACO NEOを作った会社）辺りは上手くやりそう。
エグゾの性能だって限界があるわけですし、重機の代わりになるとは思えないですから。
なんなら、重機や自動車開発技術を応用した、カスタムエグゾフレームを売り出しても良いわけだし。
むしろ、大手の株価は上がる。

日本企業がエグゾで損をしてる理由は、重機メーカーを通じて購入しなくても石灰岩を1トン用意すれば誰でも簡単に手に入るから。
カスタムパーツを作るにも、日本政府がエグゾの利用を制限する協定に署名してて出来ない。
石灰岩の用意がなかなか難しい。(全ての山は、所有者が存在する。勝手に取ってもいいわけじゃない。)
石灰岩を1トンと言えば、敷石用のを購入すると50万は下らない。(それでも重機1台より安いがね)
企業が専門的に、石灰岩を用意し、交換(仕入れ)すれば効率も良い。1台２～３万円で売れば儲かるだろう。
Obsolete shows the most most accurate depiction of mechas in modern warfare, besides "VOTOMS", or the manga RED EYES.
Forget neo evangelion and gundams, that is beyond reasonable considering their building costs, high profile, exposed flat surfaces.
Mechas should give way to exo suits or be depicted as they are in "OBSOLETE", high mobility speciality combat veihicles.
To be effective they should only be deploid in urban, mountain, forest dense, areas where they have tatical advantage.
In retrospective armored veihicles and these mechas would be highly effective if they also had a personal drone to scout individualy or as in a group, concept shown in the manga "Front Mission - Dog Life & Dog Style ".
I think here they made it even more realistic by making the basic frame cheaper than dirt (in some ways quite literally)

I love it. This is fairly early for exoframe combat, so before the make wpns designed for the mechs they just upgrade the next gun. I'm pretty sure they are using the browning 50 cal.
I'm glad someone else noticed the M2's in a rifle chassis. It's pretty cool tbh.

@@rancorious247 you really need to put in JP audio and Eng caps. This is the worst English dub I have ever heard Americans perform. Yes I've heard worse English dubs, but they weren't by native speakers.
I was just about to comment that the writing wasn't too great on this, then I started noticing that the subs are different than the dub. Still something tells me these "Exo suites\frames" are just gonna take over they're own Independence at some point, unless through the first 3 episodes they mention that the suites involve the nervous systems of alien origen for no reason. Basically the writing feels like everything said so far is making things too obvious or just has no point.
I like how animators included real life military equipment and vehicles. Soviet/Post-Soviet/Russian Mi-8 Mi-26 helicopters for transportation, modified .50cal machine guns. Later on we will see how some small countries use BMPs BTRs T-72s, etc. And ak-74s for infantry for example.
This is teaching me a lot about colonization. In school it’s taught to us that colonization is like settlers and almost like an empire, but it’s more like a bank heist except your extracting resources.

もしかしたら隊長さんも「身に染みて思い知る」経験をしたのかもですね。
今回はミニガン持ちだったりホバークラフトだったりと色んなエグゾの形が見れて大満足だったよ

So the exo suits are probably old tech they don't need anymore so they came to earth to trade off all their old stock for extremely high value resources. They probably calculated the value of an exo worth of lime stone, 1 ton, not on any notion of fair trade but simply after analyzing earth's human structure and planning the best weight that would allow the propagation and need of the exo suits. At 1 ton, people will consider it as a possible cost and push for everyone to have one and for its use everywhere, effectively creating a massive market demand. If it was 10 tons, it would be unreasonable to ask for one due to the logistical opportunity cost of mining for a single suit.

むしろ陸で運用するよりソマリアの海賊みたいに貨物船襲ったりする方が向いてる気がする
2話もそうですが、お金の話がリアルを通り越して、生々しくすらありますよね。
リアルでも、生産ラインとかコストとか費用対効果とかで、小銃の弾を5.56mmから6mmくらいにしないかみたいな話を20年ぐらいしますから、エグゾフレーム導入なんてそう簡単に踏み切れないですよね。
アメリカの正規軍がエグゾを導入されたら、日本でも採用されることになるんだろうなぁ〜

Its pretty funny, but why trade good guns to a developing nation when giving them your hand me downs would be better then what they and their enemy has. I can imagine the peddlers are doing this as a way to make "recycling " their mechs profitable. In other words earth is the dumping ground, and we are paying them for their trash....I love this series.
