@DonABirdYTNot sure where you got that from, but no. Absolutely not. The soldier readied herself. She aimed. The finest guards in the imperial army carried on in their charge. She took a deep breath... and pulled the trigger. BLAM! One of the guards stumbled and fell. The air filled with noise and lead. The charge disintegrated into bloodied bodies and dropped weapons. The soldier reloaded and fired again at the next group of men, toppling them like dominoes. More guards tried to follow, and they too collapsed under the weapon’s gaze. The prince curled up into a ball, covering his ears to drown out the screams. The queen covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face. The king simply watched as everyone in the room learned what he had already known. I just want more anime that pits medieval fantasy type universes against modern times. WITHOUT having the magic side be overly OP. Imagine an anime with a coherent magic system, but also the realism of this anime when it comes to firearms and explosive munitions.
Magic systems.... realism... my guy, you realize that is a oxymoron, right? A magic system doesn't need to be realistic. Different classes of fantasy exists and while we can create nuclear fission and basically destroy our own planet 5 times over if one of the bigger forces decides to get froggy, how is it so unbelievable that a world where magic exists might be able to wield powers of equal power?
@@imaran1303 If I'm not mistaken I used the word realism in reference to the firearms and explosive munitions part. But to answer your question, the reason it's so unbelievable is because the amount of energy necessary to create an equivalent explosion to a nuclear bomb is MASSIVE. The resources necessary to do it and deliver it are extraordinarily demanding as well. In fact, our modern day fission reactors were initially designed as a way to make a source of material for nuclear weapons as a byproduct. I also want to mention that we aren't even harnessing the actual energy expunged from the nuclear fission reaction and instead are using the heat it creates (which is a byproduct) to boil water and turn a giant motor with steam. Anyways, back to the main topic, I think it's pretty dumb to have a single person walking around with the capabilities to make a nuclear explosion from will at any given time. Sure, it's cool, but... Bruh... My main point was to have a dope ass fight between fantasy and modern with both sides being properly represented. SURE, have that, but properly flesh out the reason WHY that person can make a nuclear explosion. Like how in the actual fuck does he spontaneously create that much energy..? That's my point.
@@zestybeelzebub And you think it wouldn't be dope to have a high fantasy Mage or Warrior fight against a modern military? My guy, the fight between Rory and the Special Forces was dope, it was one of the few situations where modern weaponry was proven to be useless against a enemy that moves inhumanly fast, is inhumanly strong and is immortal. And the thing is that we have people in our world who have the power to destroy our world with the push of a button, any first world country with access to nuclear weapons has this. And as much as I love this show and watching modern military tear through a low fantasy setting, I think it would be equally as cool if they were to fight against a high fantasy empire with magical infantry that can conjure barriers to block most small-arms fire and even artillery, able to conjure massive armies of golems at a whim. It would be interesting to see how these militaries would actually need to strategize to beat enemies who could quite literally force the sky to fall down ontop of them.
@@imaran1303 That's the thing, I never said it wouldn't be cool. I never once implied I wouldn't want to see that shit man, I just want to see it where the magic is given such extensive thought as the weapons that verse them. It's not hard to make a coherent magic system that not only makes sense, but also has rules and laws it has to abide by. But yes, you're right about the push of a button thing. There's just a lot more effort put into the actual manufacturing of the weapon, storage, deployment, and coordination of it than simply pushing a button. Sure, it is done at the push of a button, but that doesn't reflect the amount of effort it took to get it to that point.
There's something about someone so cocky and smug getting the ever living shit beat out of them that I just love. They act all tough, but when they're reduced to a crying, bleeding baby, it just brings a smile to my face.
I loved this show because of how realistic some characters were. Some saw shit that made no sense at all and knew to back off, and the few who didn’t were in denial about how powerful the JDF weapons were. Everyone and their motivations were believable. No plot device decisions
That's what annoys me most about this scene. Probably would've been more satisfying if the Japanese squad just lit them all up with automatic fire, too. That way the writers don't look like tryhards.
@@jasonalbert6251 And frankly... it sends a pretty clear message to the Emperor who's sitting right there: I have an entire squad at my disposal, each one armed the same as her. Alternate history hypothesizing is interesting. I would agree that a gate opening up to a place with more resources to plunder would be a great advantage to whom it is closest. Any country would take what they can by force if they had to. There will be propaganda to justify the need to invade to the public. Most of the people of the world will ignore any suffering that is happening through the gate if they got something out of it. Such as people tend to agree with and support policy if it aligns with what they already believe or if they will gain something such as money. Even if said policy is unfair or unjust to others, or even a majority of others, most people won't care.

I know right, this anime just hits a sweet spot of fantasy, about having the power and doing things right with it, helping others with it. Satisfying to watch
I feel bad for the Princess here. She was trying so hard to work out a peace deal because she had such a better idea of what the JSDF could do than anyone else in her family, and likely better than most of the Empire. She saw the JSDF fight at Italica, the soldiers and equipment at Alnus, the massive city of Tokyo that dwarfed anything she had to compare with it, Saw the short but vicious bout of special operations fighting at the hot springs resort that basically took Rory Mercury, (a Priestess of a war god and essentially in the process of becoming a god herself) to halt. She saw people who defended her directly and indirectly through out that whole process, whose kind hearted nature she learned to trust enough to try to have them be the ones to work out a peace deal. People who tried so hard to be friendly with and show that they wanted peace. People she trusted enough to bring to her father the Emporer so they can explain the dangers of aftershocks of an earthquake they laughed off as being small in comparison to their homeland. Instead she gets to see Itami, a man she respects tremendously and knows his dislike of violence and forgiving nature. (He basically waived off a beating/dragging behind horseback for miles because he knew those knights that were arriving did not know of the cease-fire/ Truce after the battle of Italica). She watched this man lose his cool, punch her brother then put his warface on to save one of his fellow citizens and give permission to unleash that horrible violence these "Men in Green" so completely demonstrated at Alnus and Italica, in an absolute confirmation that these foreigners whose home they had invaded, had no fear of the empire, because they knew they could win, and were happily proving it in front of them in her very HOME.
Our world has had thousands of years to perfect every aspect of war. As far as I can tell, the empire has only existed for less than a thousand. I think it also shows that the individual soldiers were not that great in combat. It was because of their massed ranks and unit discipline that made them strong for the period. In contrast, modern armies need soldiers that are individually tough, as well as disciplined in squad level combat.

I wonder how a series like this would play out with different militaries from different eras. Napoleonic armies probably will have a notably more challenging campaign. While Nazis would be way more dismissive of collateral damage. There probably is a fanfic isekai about some of those.
Napoleon will have to develop AA weapon; Nazi will have field trip day; Imperial japan......just say that the isekai imperial will regret to cross the gate; British, another monday to get more colony; USA, FREEDOM (OIL and resource); China, finally solution for mainland overpopulation problem;
this is the opposite but I would love seeing a series where a world similar to ours come into contact with another world that trained magic like hell so both sides have equal firepower
The show does have some English language fanfic if you search it up of different militaries going at them, ranging from WW2 US to WW1 Britain to the USSR and more, some of them are actually decently written.
4:00 is some god damm dedication to realism; you see the explosion first, then the shockwave comes through the ground, shaking the camera, and lastly is the sound also, the blurr is from the air shockwave
I was so annoyed at how they portrayed the American speacial forces...I mean they totally let the respect and research thing slide with that episode. That episode is where i stopped watching the series btw. They gave them zero credit in any way; one they went into a covert op with no silencers or tech (NIGHT VISION(they also didn't utilize any CONCEPT of STEALTH either)), two the Americans had no plans for counter offensive going into what would clearly be a high security area...I could go on and on but im not even a military guy. The writers totally dropped the ball on realism. I mean they did their best to portray the SDF realistically right? It's like watching something written and directed by highschoolers (lazy nationalistic ones at that). That said this series seems rather satirical of all nations excluding Japan. So with that premise included in the story I can kind of forgive them...but they've still lost my respect.
The US Army special forces weren't in this series. The people you saw were CIA operatives who happened to be former military. One of them calls himself a recon marine which isn't very impressive in the grand scheme. The show does a lot to make the Japanese look good, but the CIA and MSS are bad dudes. I don't care how good of an operator you are, if you were to send special forces, seals, deltas or SAS on a clandestine operation against even just a fortified ranger position, they will lose. Fact is that the Japanese had a home field advantage on top of being a very elite fighting force. America gets its strength from its tactics, overwhelming numbers and logistics, not necessarily the training of their troops. I know this because I served 16 years in the army, the last eight as a ranger qualified special forces operative. I was in the 5th group and we did a lot of cross-training with Filipino special forces and Philippine recon marines. I was surprised to say the least. Those guys beat us in long range marksmanship though we got them in virtually all the other shooting events. They have their own version of SERE school that's taught to all their forces on some level. They're better at jungle survival and reconnaissance. Moreover, our counterparts in the Philippine army special forces get fairly high profile direct action missions that usually seals get here. In my time, we were just armed diplomats and teachers. It's far more dangerous but lacks that "cool" factor that appeals to a lot of kids. The Army has long since (Vietnam) deemphasized LRR, guerilla warfare as most people know it and even direct action. I guess it depends on the war. I loved my time in the group and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but even sitting here as a old killer with bad knees and a bad back, the kid inside of me wishes I got to go on more "eventful" missions. Not for the publicity or anything. Its a desire that's hard enough to explain to NON-SOF guys, let alone civilians.

He turned to his guards. “What are you doing? Line up and attack!” They finally listened, lining up side by side. Their tower shields clattered together into a perfect shield wall, and as one they surged forward to kill the insolent woman.
The soldier loaded one final magazine and swept her weapon over the final few guards cowering in the corners of the room. “If you don’t want to fight, drop your weapons,” she said. And just like that, she was the only one in the room with a weapon. The fight was over, and the war was too.

The princess and the factions that sided wanted peace talks partly because they saw how compassionate they were but primarily because they saw the powerful wepons like assault rifles and mortar wepons and realized the power they could have if they allied with them instead of fought against them
even the princess saw first hand after the JSDF sent reinforcements to help defend one of their cities when it was under threat that if the JSDF was sent to find their capital and kill everyone on sight instead of "go to the other side and see what you can find out and understand" there'd be practically nothing the kingdom could do to stop them.
The few prisoners the kingdom did attain from their first attack weren't even useful from a military point they were unarmed civilians that were almost immediately thrown into slavery, not military fighters who could provide valuable information like how many people are in your military forces? how do your wepons work? if I wanted to gain a strong foothold in your world that your people couldn't simply bomb me out of where would I go?

I just want more anime that pits medieval fantasy type universes against modern times. WITHOUT having the magic side be overly OP. Imagine an anime with a coherent magic system, but also the realism of this anime when it comes to firearms and explosive munitions.
ok but what if they fight again type 7 civilization?

Most of the people of the world will ignore any suffering that is happening through the gate if they got something out of it.

I think it also shows that the individual soldiers were not that great in combat. It was because of their massed ranks and unit discipline that made them strong for the period. In contrast, modern armies need soldiers that are individually tough, as well as disciplined in squad level combat.

I freaking love the Scene, when the Lady beats up that Trash-Prince, he was completely deserving every hit.
I wonder how a series like this would play out with different militaries from different eras. Napoleonic armies probably will have a notably more challenging campaign. While Nazis would be way more dismissive of collateral damage.
There probably is a fanfic isekai about some of those.
Napoleon will have to develop AA weapon;
Nazi will have field trip day;
Imperial japan......just say that the isekai imperial will regret to cross the gate;
British, another monday to get more colony;
USA, FREEDOM (OIL and resource);
China, finally solution for mainland overpopulation problem;
this is the opposite but I would love seeing a series where a world similar to ours come into contact with another world that trained magic like hell so both sides have equal firepower
The show does have some English language fanfic if you search it up of different militaries going at them, ranging from WW2 US to WW1 Britain to the USSR and more, some of them are actually decently written.
Imagine what the Nazi would do this people 💀

HowToGainTime agree. This series has a ludicrous level of nationalism blended into the plot
@@xuananle2466 SO I take you refuse to watch Hollywood war flicks on the same grounds?
