    Great video mate you have sold me on this stove. I have been doing a bit of research and looked at a few videos to try and find a stove compatible with my lavuu this stove seems to come up all the time, however videos I watched didn’t explain it very well and were long winded. This was straight to the point and showed how well it works with the lavuu. Thank you for that I’ve been looking for a while and now know what to buy to have a good stove for winter camping with my Lavuu

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I finally was able to find a Lavvu tent at the beginning of this year, here in the U.S. after searching for over a year and was about to give up. I got a medium size. Unfortunately, where I ordered it from they did not give you a choice on size, but the price was good. I would have liked a large Lavvu. I'm 5'-11" tall and it seems quite tight in there. You look taller than me, maybe I should experiment staking it out wider. Haven't used it yet, just set it up in the backyard to get used to it. I 'm thinking of making an ammo box stove for it. I was worried it might not be big enough for cold weather. But after you saying that you don't need a big stove in there makes me think that the ammo can stove will work. Although our winter's here in Michigan can get brutally cold. Below zero fahrenheit. I'd like to add a zipper or snaps to the opening also. Like you said, those buttons are awkward as hell for me to button up. Also going to add a length of paracord to the stake grommets to possibly stretch the room out get some better stakes to use in snow.

    Thanks for making this vid my friend. I really enjoyed watching all of it. A great perspective on that type of wood burning stove and all of its pro's and cons. Its a knightmare when the low temps kill all your batteries lol...I know this for sure. I too live in the south 'east' of England and love using my wood stove in my lavvu. I have tried different setups and believe the higher the lavvu goes the better it works in regards to hot tents. I have made 2 vids so far with my stove, 1 with my modified lavvu and the other with just 2 tarps wrapped together. Had a blast in every one of them. Keep up the great vids. Love and respect for your relationship with your dog. It makes me smile everytime. Giving him a new lease on life...total respect to you. Cheers buddy. All the best. Catch you on your next vid. Love your work and camping with the polish lavvu hot tent i've got the dutch version but really think polish one is better hands down.
    Mine one does not have sleeves so i wil make a peace for in between the two halves and make a sleeve on the top on one side of the tent and it wil give me more room in the tent that is a treu win win situation.

    Great video, glad I’ve stumbled across you mate. I’m looking to buy this setup for the winter ahead and was looking for the right gear to go with my Lavvu. Just a quick question, did you buy it straight from the Outbacker site and if so was it just the stove and the tent protector that you bought or would there be other bits I would need?

    • @justoutdoors2591
      @justoutdoors2591  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CampingAntz the stove and flue pipes come as a kit but the tent protector is separate. In all honestly I wouldn't recommend the lavvu. Don't get me wrong it's a great bit of kit, but if you go out and it rains it almost doubles in weight. Also I'm 6ft tall and it's way to small. I've got another project in the making please sub and will all be revealed soon........

    Hi Justin, need a bit of advice just got the exact same set up but how do you fit the tent sleeve at that height as i thought there would be a lip on the flue section but there isn't so do you use the ring that comes with the stove under the tent sleeve to keep it in place?

    • @justoutdoors2591
      @justoutdoors2591  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the top and bottom buttons done up it's seems to just stay quite tight around the tent protector.

    • @justoutdoors2591
      @justoutdoors2591  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry read that wrong. My tent protector was a real tight fit with the flue pipe sections and it seemed to just stay in place. Otherwise a long 5mm bolt going through one of the small holes in the sleeve, is enough to hold it in place.

    Keep it real - Ayyii - Respec ;) Nice vid man, don't worry about the haters - just do your thing. What size lavuu was yours, 1,2, or 3 ? I am thinking about one of these or maybe a hammock and under quilt and tarp - either system seems to weigh about the same but this one gives comfort and warmth. What is the burn time on that stove when full and fully choked?

    • @justoutdoors2591
      @justoutdoors2591  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching buddy. The stove will burn for at least a good hour. Ive started using some long burn coal, and that stuff is amazing... chuck a few big handfuls in before I go to sleep and it lasts about 3-4 hours. The lavvu is one size 2 and one 3. Didn't realise until I had them delivered.

    • @justoutdoors2591

      @@justoutdoors2591 Seen - I have built a swedish firetorch using charcoal briquettes in a Gen 2 Firebox stove but this is for outdoor use and lasts about 3 hours. Great video Justin! Never been big of a fan of lavvu or "pałatka" as we call it here in Poland. Not because it's bad but cause I had to carry it every single time when my unit is outdoors (and I'm 6ft6'', and yes we still using them in army these days) They do come in different sizes tho (3 to be precise) and get really heavy when wet. Great stove but looks heavy for backpacking use and I would suggest using welding blanket instead of your bulky tent protector, should work just fine. Some small stove fan may be good idea just to mix the air inside. Put some stones underneath the stove so they accumulate the heat and release some warmth when you sleep. Just some ideas, not sure how they work as I never used lavvu with stove inside. Stay safe and have fun mate.

      TIWAZI1 I'm in the process of getting a new tipi. Like you said.... the lavvu is stupidly heavy when they are wet. I have another video of a ammo box stove I made, it's much smaller and much easier to transport around and it fit nicely in the bottom of my ruck sack. Thanks for the tips

    Hi to you outdoors. Some day I am going to try hot tenting my self. the peace and Silence is what I really need right now.
    Just saw your video a while ago very interesting keep up the good work and things will go right.
    One other thing . Try out some of the other foldable wood stoves while hiking or walking much lighter and just as good.
    Here from Ireland.

    Don't worry about the 'D' heads, mate - you'll always find them wherever you go and blocking is an option. They're arm chair critics and not worth your time - simple as.
    I've just purchased a brand new half Lavvu and hope to use it come spring time. I'm all for keeping the baggage down and as lightweight as possible. A tent stove is a good move but I've seen lot smaller. The one I saw was on a Polish blokes channel and no larger than a catering sized can of coffee.
    Everyone on the channel wanted to know where they could obtain one - needless to say. :)

    Great video.….dont worry about your angles....you are totally fine. Try winter camping in Canada. Where I live its around - 20 - 25 including the windchill in the winter and north of me where a lot of people go winter camping its even colder.

    Have you looked at "Simon, a Bloke In The Woods" video on his lavvu and home made ammo can stove? Also, "The Wiltshire Man" has put out a few videos incorporating WB stoves.

    Hi mate. Great video. I’m a total novice at all this. What make of stove is that please? Do all the polish lavvud have the arm holes for the flu? I know simple questions but I’m a worrier. Cheers again

    My biggest concern would be keeping the hound dog away from any glancing contact with the device.I would have to invent a basic enclosure around it which could be a challenge.

    Nice setup and that little stove looks like it could heat up a large area. Nice job with the video and don't bother with the bad comments. The more comments on your videos whether positive or negative , the better it is . All you have to do is concentrate on the positive ones and go from there. Cheers friend and keep the videos coming ✌ peace.

    Great set up,,, Have you thought of sewing in another fire blanket into the wall of the tent behind the stove (extra protection),,, It may let you really kick up the heat in a white out storm like we get here in the northern US,,

    The only fault I see here, is what happens when it rains? the tent protector would allow water in... i guess it would be sauna time!!! is there another accessory to seal off the tent? overall good video.

    Great idea about the carbon monoxide alarm, we were made to have a knife hanging up in our vehicle tents in Norway in case they went up on fire so that's another great idea too.
