- In this video, I head off to a favourite pine wood to test out a new hot tent and cook up some breakfast. The Black Orca ‘Smokey Hut’ tent from OneTigris is a super lightweight Silnylon pyramid tent what can be used with a wood burning tent heater for winter camping or hot tenting.
OneTigris kindly sent me this tent to try out and being so impressed by it, I really wanted to share it with you. This isn’t a review, but more a first impressions video and an opportunity to try it out with my old .50cal ammo can tent heater. Whilst the wood stove is lit and the tent nice and cosy, I escape the rain and wind outside and cook up some eggs and sausage for breakfast - oh, and some seriously hot hot sauce than nearly blew my head off!

Hey Simon I'd LOVE to see a light stove build in your future. I've made a few that work great, one is out of a 1 gallon tin can and beer bottles for the chimney! I've seen a cool stove made from those tiny beer kegs;) cheers from USA

Havent been camping since I was a kid and I do believe as humans we need nature as much as we need technology in today's day. This makes me want to get back out there and experience it all.

I enjoy watching you can learn from these camping channel. You never know when you might need lessons. Trust me I know teens and grown ups that don't know how to start a fire or cook. Some of these channels are worth watching.

I too own a Polish Laavu and indeed pretty heavy compared to this gem. Wanna have one for sure. You can just tuck it away in the backpack with ease.

Simon F, I was sure he had done a video on building the stove but when I came to look for it I couldn't find it. If you look up Swedwoods channel he has a very good video on building one that doesn't involve welding.

every 2 year! The last trip was the Huricana river in Quebec Canada! Was supposed to be a 2 week trip and ended up 3! At first I thought the hole for the pipe was included in the tent design, but you made it of course... strange cutting a hole in a brand new tent :-)

I'm in, and thanks for the opportunity! Hot tenting is really the only way to go for nearly half the year in Quebec. Slept under the stars at -22C once, but not that young and dumb anymore... Quinzhees are better.

Bought myself a Zebra billy can and mini alcohol stove and went and sat under my tarp shelter in the rain with a warm brew. Even bought myself one of those foldable cups from Wildo that you have, though mine is desert tan so I've not completely copied you ha.

Use to have a Lavvo but it got stolen some years ago and I never bothered to by a new one. It was also to heavy carry around by my self on longer trips. Now watching your video I suddenly realize how much I miss this type of tent. It would be absolutely perfect for me and my two dogs. All year around.
