i have a lavvu and i made an external frame out of two tent poles tied at the top with two guy lines, it gives me a lot more spade inside, keep camping thanks dave.

I can see why you would be put off. I never realized how much time it takes to edit. The funniest video I've ever watched on TH-cam was the one in which you and Davey camped near the airport looking for aliens with your tin foil hats. The spoon and "dish" were hilarious. That wind would’ve kept me up all night. I live in the Midwest here in the states and after watching several of your videos I was inspired by the durability and simplicity of a polish lavvu so I bought one. Your ammo can stove is pretty nice I should make one for my Lavvu.

Great effort on your video, really good seeing the improvisation with your stove, I recently bought a 2 man tent for West highland way in June and new to wild camping. TH-cam is brilliant for hints tips and advice through vids like this. Great effort and I will keep an eye out for your future vids .

There are a few variations on the stove and all seem to work, some better than others though. I feel a slightly wider chimney would given better airflow and I shortened the baffle slightly to allow more heat to the top of the stove for cooking. I'm doing more solo camps in the forest so hope to see a Woodwose (UK Yeti) soon. Atb and a happy new year to you too. Damian.
Another cracking video Damian. Passing on some guidance I was given - I was warned about Carbon monoxide build up in the tent/tipi if the stove is not sealed and properly out before sleeping (if you planned on using it through the night). Looks like you had more than enough ventilation in the Lavvu :-), but a CO monitor is a good warning system. Bit of a fact - CO poisoning kills more people in the UK in a year than dead fall. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to the next 👍

You might want to attach some "L" brackets to the sides of the stove so you could stake it into the ground. I think that would help with the stability. Also you could put a ring around the chimney pipe and attach some guy cables and peg them into the ground externally. A bit of bother for an overnight but if you were going to be there a few days it would be worth the peace of mind to have the stove secure. ATB Doug.
Arreet Geordie, I can't be too far away from you here in Whitley bay. Ingenious stove jack, especially if you're having to vent off fumes from galvanising. If you need a closer fit, I'm getting away with a length of fire blanket wrapped around the stove pipe. Looks like it was blowing a hoolie mate. Another top tip is to stake out the flue for more stability. All the best for 2018

Great vid bro. Loved the Christmas lights and tinsel. You crack me up. I think the stove may have worked better, and been more stable out of the arm holes rather than the back opening. And with a proper heat sleeve, it wouldn't have been attached to the canvas so wouldn't have been pushed and pulled around with the gusting wind. A larger diameter section of pipe and some spacers would work well. Cracking idea for a stove though. I'll have a go at one myself I think. Cheers

Wow £20 for a lavvu if I’d known what I know now I’d bought maybe 2 I’m looking to getting one but they are to expensive now is their much size difference between the size 2 and the size 3 because the price difference is more affordable on the size 2 so that’s the one I will most probably purchase thanks for the great videos

Hiya Damian I enjoyed that vid, I've got a Hungarian lavvu and av found the best way for loads more space was ditching the alu pole and lashing and hoisting it above to a firm branch, if no trees a crafted tripod even works better. I must say I'm impressed with John's stove lyke. Was windy up there mind ah was surprised at how well the lavvu held up. Atb and hope 2018 is a good one for ya. Davie

Great video bro we been getting plenty of wind down here in NZ also. Not a Christmas person myself and only did it for the kids but our youngest will be 18 in 2018 so most likely ease right back on the festive season for us. Hope 2018 goes really well for you. so all the best.
Another great video. The last wild camp that I had was up at Simonside in September. I keep meaning to get out for one, but I've got a half marathon coming up in Norway a week on Saturday, so the focus has been on training for that. Hopefully I'll get out for a wild camp when I get back.

Great vid had me chuckling with those lights,ive almost same set up,i use the arm but i use a large dog food can cost 90p ,put 3 bolts in it and goes threw hole,ive not had a problem spent a whole day when first made in woods testing,canvas only slightly warm,just random idea if helps.

You could of made some long sticks from some hazel like you did your pegs pal but with another branch coming of at the top to hold the stove in place and for future trips make some out of metal maybe weld some pegging points on each corner of it would be a good set up once the stoves more secure

Wow £20 for a lavvu if I’d known what I know now I’d bought maybe 2 I’m looking to getting one but they are to expensive now is their much size difference between the size 2 and the size 3 because the price difference is more affordable on the size 2 so that’s the one I will most probably purchase thanks for the great videos

Hiya Damian I enjoyed that vid, I've got a Hungarian lavvu and av found the best way for loads more space was ditching the alu pole and lashing and hoisting it above to a firm branch, if no trees a crafted tripod even works better. I must say I'm impressed with John's stove lyke. Was windy up there mind ah was surprised at how well the lavvu held up. Atb and hope 2018 is a good one for ya. Davie

Great video bro we been getting plenty of wind down here in NZ also. Not a Christmas person myself and only did it for the kids but our youngest will be 18 in 2018 so most likely ease right back on the festive season for us. Hope 2018 goes really well for you. so all the best.

Another great video. The last wild camp that I had was up at Simonside in September. I keep meaning to get out for one, but I've got a half marathon coming up in Norway a week on Saturday, so the focus has been on training for that.
Hopefully I'll get out for a wild camp when I get back.

Great vid had me chuckling with those lights,ive almost same set up,i use the arm but i use a large dog food can cost 90p ,put 3 bolts in it and goes threw hole,ive not had a problem spent a whole day when first made in woods testing,canvas only slightly warm,just random idea if helps.
I will make one for the sleeve hole, might be more stable than the method I used. Thank you

nice stove, maybe conjour up a bracket to stake down the chimney outside good video.
You could of made some long sticks from some hazel like you did your pegs pal but with another branch coming of at the top to hold the stove in place and for future trips make some out of metal maybe weld some pegging points on each corner of it would be a good set up once the stoves more secure
