    31 out of 32 teams will inevitably disappoint their fans.

      If they expectations are purely a WS, then yes. But I wouldn’t have been disappointed by either embracing the youth movement or actually committing to winning. A WS this season hasn’t even crossed my mind.
      PS: there are only 30 teams

    Small ball is the answer when you have a team struggling at the plate. Be more aggressive on the bases.

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      100%. My comment was more referring to the inability to convert runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs specifically. They are creating opportunities, but this team has to be one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed in converting those situations.

      I would tend to agree, but you saw what being aggressive did for us the night before.😢

      @@lynnbyrd9819 there’s being aggressive and being stupid, Chapman was the latter on that play. With 1 out I could live with forcing the defense to make a throw. With no outs it’s completely inexcusable.

    As optimistic as I've been, after last night I'm about ready to throw in the towel. You say league average in situational batting...but it seems worse. It's almost hard to strike out 17 times and not draw even one walk all night. Just inept. Nice job covering the prospects as usual.

      @@lynnbyrd9819 oh I meant if they could just be league average they’d be 10+ games over .500. This team is one of the worst situationally I’ve ever seen. Just truly atrocious. Appreciate you!

      Hey Cody, can we start talking about next year's team already?🤪 I keep forgetting about Jung Ho Lee now. I suppose he is CF 1 next year...with Ramos moving to LF.

    • @EYDShow

      He’s for sure the CF next season and it will be really nice to push Ramos to a corner where he can be an excellent defender.

    Any particular reason you continuously say that you see McDonald as a reliever when he’s largely been a starter throughout his life including the minors? His strikeouts don’t blow anybody away on the stat sheet…he had to improve his velocity to even throw mid 90s, he has a funky delivery, doesn’t walk guys…and is efficient. But you think he’s going to be a reliever? Genuinely curious what your thoughts on him are because every time you bring him up you see him as a reliever…when everything points to him as a starter/long relief guy at worst.

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sure! Variety of reasons I feel this way. 1) already has had several arm injuries that give me pause that he’ll hold up, especially with a delivery that looks to put a lot of potential strain on his arm. 2) not sure the opportunity will be there for him to start in SF. I feel he’ll be able to contribute next season, but there is unlikely to be a rotation spot for him. Obviously things can change but I see too many people likely to be ahead of him in the pecking order and his immediate path to SF involves him going to the pen. Doesn’t mean he can’t eventually become a starter. Could see him in a 2023 Tristan Beck type role initially. Mainly out of the pen, possible spot starts.

    There is a relief pitcher who was a college free agent signing last year in A-ball named Cole Hillier. He is 23 and has pretty good stats and has closed some games for them this season. For an older prospect like him what would progression through the minors look like? Does he even have a chance at a future in the organization?

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There’s always a chance with those guys but they typically need to dominate quickly in the lower levels and push their way up to at least AA relatively quickly. When they’re significantly older than most players at a level they should perform really well so that’s why I have to wait to truly judge until they get to at least AA where the level of competition increases significantly.

      I wouldn’t be shocked if a few make appearances in SJ before the season ends. Hipwell and Tibbs made it quickly to SJ. Jordan and many others are at the Papago complex doing the “extended ACL games”. Would think a few more make their way over to SJ for a cup of coffee.

    Ive lost all faith in Melvin to manage Latin players. Soler, Flores, Estrada, Doval, Matos and Luciano. I feel bad about what might happen with our other Latin prospects

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      What do you think Melvin has to do with those guys struggling? Soler, Flores, Thairo and Doval had their normal roles and just flat out didn’t perform. Not sure how that falls on BoMel. Matos and Luciano feel like more of a Zaidi issue because he hasn’t cleared the roster to make it to where those 2 can play everyday. And I say this as someone who has been underwhelmed by BoMel this season.

      @@EYDShow having been in leadership roles before, I know if those under my leadership performed worse than they had previously it would reflect poorly on me. As far as luis and marco go you should know calling them up and then nailing them to the bench is just plain stupid. I fear this will happen with Latin prospects in the future

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@rolandzamora4040 I would like to give you an opportunity to expand on why you think he has an issue managing Latin players. He has 20+ years of experience managing players and has had players of all backgrounds experience a ton of success under him. Sometimes, players simply don’t get it done and it has nothing to do with the manager. Thairo is playing like he did from June on in 2023. Flores has been hurt and is getting older. Doval has control issues, that’s not a Melvin problem. Soler actually posted numbers very similar to what he’s posted many times in his career so toss him out. Luciano/Matos are more a Zaidi issue since BoMel can only play the hand he’s dealt.
      Your comments read as someone suggesting some kind of racial issue. Which I’m not going to tolerate in the comments when it’s a completely unfounded insinuation. But I want to give you an opportunity to explain your thought process before considering removing comments (because I really don’t want to have to do that)

      @@EYDShow ime making no accusations. I just find it odd that all these players took a nosedive this year. What worries me most is the prospects getting jerked around. If you're going to not give them a fair opportunity just leave them in aaa

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@rolandzamora4040 I agree regarding the prospects getting jerked around, but that’s a Farhan problem, not BoMel. You can’t tell the manager the goal is to win, load the team with vets and then pull up Luciano/Matos and expect Melvin to play the kids over them. He has a tremendous history of developing young players and letting them go every day when that’s the actual objective.
