    They're done. Hopefully the starting rotation is all that - cuz that's all we got boyz...unless Eldridge blows up in the spring. The other prospects are marginal. Who knows though. Who predicted the 107. Lightening struck nearly everyday during that season. Lee might have a .400 + on base %, it's just getting him 180 more feet on the bases - cuz he should steal 40 or so. Speed is paramount.

    I'd rather they have this development year and have a good assessment of what they got with the young players and what to do from there. I think they'll be competitive if they can stay relatively healthy and a third place finish doesn't sound far-fetched. It's a matter of looking at the bigger picture and hopefully they show signs of treading in the right direction

    I know Buster said that they are done but usually when PBOs or GMs say that they have something in the works. I bet Buster wants more than ever to keep things under wraps especially after the last regime and the Arson Judge fiasco. I can only hope there are some things brewing, the thing is, there aren’t many free agents left, but there are some good trade opportunities out there but at the right price (not including Eldridge in the trades). Good video as always Cody too and can’t wait for tomorrow. Unfortunately I won’t be able to join but I’ll be sure to watch the replay.

    Ngl, I don’t get the panic that some fans have. Face it, we are trash. Our core has been terrible for years, we haven’t been able to develop talent anywhere near the other teams in the division, and we think buying a guy like Corbin Burnes is gonna make us good? We aren’t BUILT to compete yet. Competitive aspirations come after we spend years developing talent and setting expectations. It’s a hard sell to tell an owner “all we need to do is spend a little more!” when we’ve spent more than all but two teams over the last couple seasons.

    I watched an interview with Kyle Haines on another podcast last night,and he echoed a lot of what you said. He did mention that indeed Schmidt and Wisely could compete for a utility role, but Wisely may well have the edge because he actually is a left-handed hitter. There is precious little left-handed hitting on our team and Yaz would be the only one with any legitimate power from that side.

      Not sure how you can hang any of what came before this offseason on Posey and hold that against him. As I said in the video on this specifically, while it’s been too long and they *shouldn’t* be in this spot, they are in this spot. And that’s mostly to do with the clown show that ran the team previously. So they are doing what’s best for the team going forward, not just trying to desperately compete in 2025 and find themselves worse off in 3 years.

    I know this is not likely, but not impossible: that we are a dark horse contender for the wild card, I think there is scenario where we can break out of all the doom and gloom. So Harrison's 3rd year, and we go back into recent history Logan Webb broke out in his 3rd years, and it could happen to Harrison, he turns into a solid starter. Also Birdsong breaks out as well, the talent is there for this too happen maybe for both young guys under the tutelage of hall of famer Verlander. Lee wanting to prove he is a quality MLB starter in CF improves his himself and he is quite obviously a gamer, so this could happen. Matos shows once and for all he belongs in the show as a starter straight off of his great winter league showing. Adames does Adames things and is an above average major league shortstop, and leads by example in the clubhouse. Doval rights the ship, he wouldn't be the first elite closer to have one bad year and right the ship. Verlander is a solid number two starter. Roupp shows he is a quality full time guy in the pen and maybe Cole Waites comes back. Fitz or Schmidt that they are the full time 2nd baseman and one of the becomes a quality major leaguer. Yaz gets traded to a contender. Bryce comes up and show that he is the man. I am not saying all these things will happen, but its possible that any or all of them can. People think this team was bad last year, were around for the horrific 1985 season when we were shutout 12 times and only scored 556 runs, 140 runs less than we scored last year. People are kind of short sighted here. We are not Pittsburgh or the Chisox, we can right the ship.

      I definitely don’t think this team is going to be horrible. I still personally have them at about 82-83 wins. But I do think a lot has to go right for them to make the playoffs in 2025. But they can still get a lot out of this season and be well positioned to make a huge jump in 2026.

Last offseason they were very active, maybe not in the best way, and it didn’t work out. Now it’s a new regime, with a new vision. • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It makes sense if the goal is to find out which young pitchers are guys to build around in the pen, regardless of handedness. Reality is this team isn’t going to be a playoff team in 2025 unless a mountain of things go right. So the concern should be more on finding good players than building a “complete roster”. They have a ton of young arms that could step up with Rodríguez, Sanchez, McDonald, Ragsdale, Winn (in a pen role) just to name a few. Figure out the keepers there and then either trade for a LH at the deadline if you’re actually competing or sign someone next offseason.

      I would have maybe considered 2 years, preferably 3. Problem is the deal he signed would have been awful business for the Giants. Likely scenario would have been they lose their 3rd/6th picks in 2025, lose another $1M in bonus money, retain the stiffer QO penalties for another year due to going over the tax and likely still miss the playoffs. All for Alonso to walk next offseason. I understand people like to say “well it’s not like those draft picks will be as good as Alonso” but it’s not that simple. They need to build up the farm system, not only so they produce more quality players, but so they have more assets to trade in deals for good players. And it’s really difficult to do that when you’re punting significant assets away for 1 year of a player.

    I know we hate on Meckler a lot but I really think that dude could be a very valuable player. If you look at his minor league numbers, he's put up consistently outstanding WRC+ measures at every level. Honestly hes had arguably the best and most consistent production of any player in our system. Yes his production leans heavily on the ability to hit .300+ but he's shown the ability to do it at every level (other than his 64 MLB plate appearances) and has lightning speed from the left side which allows for even weak contact to lead to base hits. While we've rightfully joked about his fielding miscues, he's actually graded out as pretty much league average and could potentially learn to play 2B, as you have mentioned before. Its a thin margin of error but dude has produced everywhere he's been so far and could be super valuable, especially if he can start swiping bags

      It matters because he actually is a really good defensive 2B and has been busting his ass there as well. We all agree that in a perfect world he’d get to play 3B, but as you pointed out Chapman has him blocked there. But he also has GG potential at 2B, so if he does extremely well it’s not like Fitz is guaranteed to hold him off like Chapman is. At the end of the day all these young guys just need to hit and they’ll find places or ABs for them.

Ramos probably isn’t a high average guy, but if he hits a ton of XBH and continues to do well w/RISP that’s more of what matters. I’d bet on Lee improving that average. They have to play Luciano to know what they have. Number 5 out of the top 100 merits more than just a look. Live or die with him. Other than Chapman and Adamas who else do they have for potential offense? If he works out great, if he doesn’t who do they have that’s better? Fitzgerald and Ramos got a chance and and they were pretty good. You have nothing to lose by letting Luciano play. 4th place is a possibility so why not give him a shot.

How many players don’t blossom until they’re 24-26? Fans should have much more patience for him than he has been allotted. But, unfortunately, with the options situation he likely is going to have to show massive growth next season in order to have a shot at a future in SF.

    Anotha one. Good vid bro. I think management is partially accountable for Marcos' struggles, but the other side of the coin is just him and his injuries. He's an athletic kid with physical skills but he needs to learn the game within the game. Hopefully Busters new regime can help, and I believe Buster is already showing a great mind from his position. It's nice to have a future hall of famer running the program instead of a guy who's never thrown a ball

    It seems like between Jerar, Marco, and Luis someone is going to the odd man out, they’re all on relatively similar timelines option wise, it seems like this will be a sink or swim season for the three of them. I hope Marco can figure it out and turn into a teoscar or Ozuna type of bat, but I do think as of right now he has the most to prove because he has the worst major league track record of the three which is tricky with limited opportunity

      Realistically Matos and Jerar are going to be competing for major league roles, and Luciano probably has not chance to make the team out of camp. Most of my optimism stems from the young players. If you want the pessimism just ask me about Hick, Murphy, Yaz or the Wimonte Flade Jr platoon 🤣 But also, I’ve been pretty objective as far as the overall state of the team. It’s not a playoff team, I just don’t view it as a 70 win team like some. It’s an objectively better roster than was trotted out last season. But I still see them finishing around 82-84 wins. But I don’t want to sit here and piss and moan every video either so I’m choosing to talk about more of the positive things that are out there, which happen to lie more with the young talent that is here.

      @EYDShow Which young players are you optimistic about and how good do you think they are?

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ probably would take way too long for me to answer that in depth so what I’ll say are the players just on the major league roster/competing for a job and the ones I’m most bullish on. Not many young players I dislike, but these are the handful I’m highest on. Ramos - feel he can be a middle of the order bat and consistent 25-30 HR guy. Schmitt - love the overall improvements with his plate discipline I saw last season. Showed it most of the year in Sac, excluding his first call up he did in SF as well. Needs to get the BB rate up to 7-8% but I feel he can be a GG contender at either 3B or 2B and hit .270ish with 20-25 HR/year. Unfortunately his opportunity will likely come elsewhere unless Fitz falls apart. Fitz - LOVE his speed and power combo. Think he can be a 20 HR/40 SB guy. Have big concerns over his swing and miss though. Both in zone and out of zone. Don’t think what he did last season was sustainable and he’d need to improve the whiff rate drastically. Matos - wish they’d give him a vote of confidence and just play him everyday for half the year and get out of his way. Has the upside to be a .300 hitter that hits a ton of doubles (Freddy Sanchez type hitter) and be an ideal 2 hitter. Needs to make better swing decisions and go back to using the whole field again and not trying to pull everything in the air. True 70 grade hit tool. Birdsong - 3 high end pitches, 4th that’s at least playable (slider). Feel if he develops he can be a #2 Harrison - probably the one guy with “ace” potential, but does need some big tweaks to reach it. Needs to get stronger in his lower body to last deeper and hopefully pick up his velo to 94-95. Should trash his slurve and get a slider with sharper break that tunnels better off his FB. Needs the command to tighten a bit so he doesn’t throw so many non competitive pitches. Roupp - reminds me of Vogelsong. Love his sinker-curveball combination. Think he his ceiling his a #3. Miller/Rodriguez - nasty stuff, closer potential for each. Feel both can and will be late inning pen options. Obviously not every guy pans out but these are the ones I have the most confidence in becoming solid big leaguers. Guys like Luciano and McCray I really like, but not sure they hit their ceilings. Hope they do.

He’s just not that good at baseball😆 It’s one of those strange baseball-isms where guys can reach the highest level without ever producing. Anyway, my two cents. I’m probably just bitter coz I was a 170lb outfielder with no big league tools but always produced😆

    • @EYDShow
      @EYDShow 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn’t say he’s never produced, but he’s constantly had setbacks. Injuries and covid cost him valuable development time and the team pushed several promotions faster than they should have. But he dominated A ball, had a massive first 2 months in high A before injury slowed him down, and then his last 30 games in AA he hit over .300 w/ a .984 OPS. He’s gone on some truly insane tears at times, just hasn’t been able to sustain it for a variety of reasons. Hopefully the new regime can get him back on the attack in the batters box, feel that would be a great first step to unleashing his potential.

    The Giants should have traded Luciano a long time ago, but hopefully he develops a decent MLB career. I think Luciano suffered from not facing enough pressure in the farm system not to increase his value beyond theoretical “power”. He seems to have a good eye, so maybe he can become an OBP machine and keep his AVG above .250… that’s my expectation, which is not high. I suspect he’s more of 15 to 20 HR player and not the power threat he was supposed to be. I really hope he doesn’t do a Joey Bart.

      @ I hope you’re right. I agree that if he can prove his hit tool plays at major league level, they should find a spot for him, but he also needs to prove he doesn’t fold under pressure. His defense was solid for routine situations, but he seemed to freak out in pressure situations. I kind of wonder if they should stick with him at SS, but as a defensive replacement late in close AAA games, to get him used to performing in pressure situations. If he can’t handle it after like 20 or so games and keeps booting balls, then make the full time move to OF. They really screwed him at the end of 2024 with lack of at bats, so hopefully that doesn’t repeat.
