Thank you for your honesty Bjørn. And thank you for keep doing these 1000 km challenges. I know it must be exhausting. But I find these to be the most valuable of all your reviews. So please don’t stop these. 😅 The arctic trips and Sunday drives look great, and I love to see them also, but they don’t add the same value for a potential buyer as the 1.000 km challenge. So perhaps consider cutting these instead of 1000 km. 🙏🏻 Cheers from Copenhagen.

Repetitive or not, I really like the 1000 km challenges. As you say, it's the real test if software and hardware are up to trans-european trips. Really relevant for people in The Netherlands that like to travel 1000-1500km single trip with their cars.

Just did it last Friday. Drove from the Netherlands to Italy with my Model 3 SR+ (1220 km one way). Would not have done it with a lot of other cars that Bjorn has tested in this price range. The 1000 km challenge really helped solidify that Tesla is the best choice in their class.

@@nielsvandenkieboom5034 , Nice car for the job. Really low consumption and fast charging does the job. I have a 2019 M3 LR DM. In two weeks we will drive to France and Spain with our folding trailer attached. As we do in The Netherlands 🙂. Even that is really easy if cars charge fast. Even with 295wh/km reference consumption at 110 km/h. Still perfectly doable.

@@ronaldjanssen105 Exactly! And it’s not like I held back on the Autobahn. Of course I also had to test out top speed and even then consumption was only 220 Wh/km on average. Mine is a 2021 with the heatpump so maybe that helped with cooling everything so I didn’t rapidgate either.

Great video Bjorn as usual. I don't know if you can pull this off but one thing I know is important to some drivers is the ability to tow a trailer and go short distances with it. A small U-Haul trailer or a pop-up camper type thing. It would be good to know what that does to the range on these EV's. Just a suggestion. Anyway, thanks for what you do on this channel. @@RobertPuklin Yep! Thermal management and the overheating discussions came up again recently when Ford, GM and other automakers announced they will join the Tesla Supercharger network. Tesla's thermal management during charging, operation, and it's HVAC is heads and shoulders above the rest (see @WeberAuto and @MunroLive vids on supermanifold/heat pump - AI assisted tech/creation!). Thermal management in all these areas is critical to succeed in the BEV segment (and be safe!). Elon has offered to share tech in this area with legacy auto makers, as it is not as easy to implement as some think (also as we see here in this @bjornnyland vid).

Conventional cars rely on internal combustion engines fueled by petroleum, while electric vehicles use electric motors powered by battery-stored energy. Electric vehicles can be charged by plugging them in or by utilizing regenerative braking, among other methods, and charging can utilize electricity from renewable sources such as solar or wind power. Due to their use of new energy as a power source, electric vehicles are commonly categorized as new energy vehicles, representing a more environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation option.

The reaaon of fogging problems with EVs are quite clear.
Fossil car's AC used to 'overcooling' and then heating up again to make SLIGHTLY COOL AIR.
This way once the air hits about 4C°, they dissipate most of their humidity.
    On EVs?
They have to save energy, so if they need little cooling, they just slightly chill down the air.
That's why the coming-out air from vents are so foggy.

Some of the Chinese cars look quite nice but there is something about the attention to detail that makes me wonder where else they cut corners in a more hidden way(BMS, Safety features, etc.).
Then most of those companies are quite financially unstable and you never know if the relationship with China will sour further.
The only reason I would see buying a Nio or BYD over Tesla would be a significantly better price but they don’t even offer that(comparable models). And the cheap new Tesla will be a great addition.

@@leiyue1411 I disagree. Yes, there is lots of great quality stuff produced in China but most of those things(except maybe DJI and some others) are still designed out of China and subject to quality control processes/standards of global players.
It’s those little things like software(chargingspeed shown in hp, annoying warning sounds, lackluster menus and translations) as well as hardware things(like rusting bolts on new cars) that absolutely push me away as a consumer. Now the Han even rapidgates in 2023.
One way to still be competitive would be a much better price but here they also don’t deliver yet in Europe.
If I get a Tesla, Korean or EU car with comparable specs for the same or better price, I’d personally never chose a BYD, Nio or XPENG. The last two might not even be around in a year or two.
And re Tesla quality. I drove Ford, BMW and Mercedes cars for twenty years and I’m happy with my Tesla. Same are friends who own one. Even my 70+ year old dad likes to drive it so much that he’ll pick up his MY RWD this Thursday. The quality is absolutely sufficient.
