    Accumulated Discharge/Charge Energy counters probably include energy regened (then used again) during driving. Accumulated Charge Energy gained 7 kWh from regen during range test (from 3231 kwh to 3238 kWh = 7 kWh). And there is exactly 7kWh between 82 kWh (charging session in obd2 app) and 89 kWh (discharged at range test).

    it has been a month that i bought Byd Han awd and it gives 450 km easily in highway and 500-550 in city roads and it cost me 46000 usd. its very fast, very comfortable and it has very good build quality. there is no other car you can buy for this price with these features. he was driving in normal and high brake mode. if you drive in eco and standart brake mode it will give you more km.

    That crawling at the end probably means that there's little to no below zero range. The cells are so close to their low voltage limit that it won't let you draw any significant current to avoid cratering them and causing permanent damage.

    Thanks for this detailed review! Your comments about Chinese cars are supported by my MG5 (upgraded) Trophy LD model I've run since Dec. 2022. Basically a good estate car, but software functionality is inconsistent and difficult to access with left-hand from the screen when driving. Can't turn off the radio, so have to mute it. Lane correct/alert is so annoying I've disabled it, and anti-front collision protection is very unpredictable and applies the brakes in a random, severe manner which is hazardous. Moral? A,B,C Always Be Cancelling software over-rides.

    You ever thought of adding some reviews of the phone apps to go with the cars: mapping, live charge status, charge station accuracy etc. I ask as now I have. BMW EV I'm fairly unimpressed by the app. No 5 minute wary of charge completion, end of charge-map app still shows petrol stations (why?), my local charger is in the wrong place, and there's no way to get details on consumption or charging curve. Tronity does better status -while ABRP blows it away for routing. It's a shame ABRP doesn't let me download destinations to the car the way Apple Maps does

  • @vividthespis

    The car isn't able to path plan and predict at higher speeds accurately or safely. Likely due to both hardware processing limitations and software immaturity. Processing requirements increase exponentially as speed increases. Low visibility and night contrast only compound these problems as the neural net tries to keep up. And this is why the auto steer isn't that great at lower speeds and is outright dangerous at higher speeds.

  • @GolLeeMe
    @GolLeeMe ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It sounds correct. Mute means mute, pause means pause. HP hours is a very odd unit for expressing stored energy though. It’s the result of the conversion from imperial to metric in the on-board system I think. Watts has always been an imperial measurement, much like horsepower, so there is no need to convert kW into HP as its Watts in both systems. In my simplistic way of looking that this Horsepower is work, Watts is capacity to do work and not a unit of work itself. Better to explain a heat engines capacity to do work in HP but an electrical storage system in Watts. Just my opinion.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, technically Han does the correct thing which is to mute but still keep playing. However, it's been an industry standard to pause and mute at the same time. And in a way, it makes perfect sense to pause and mute at the same time as long as you're playing something that can be paused. For a radio, when you mute, you only mute of course.
      So doing something completely different from what people are used to is a bad idea.

    • @GolLeeMe
      @GolLeeMe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bjornnyland Hi Bjorn, Yes, I agree with the industry standard and your comment. It’s just a matter of semantics on my part. Of course, you cannot pause radio unless it’s digital DAB, and then only in some situations anyway. I agree they have done the right thing, which leads me to think how industry got to this situation of having mute also act as pause! Perhaps they should change combined command to Mause. 😀

    • @GoldenCroc
      @GoldenCroc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks to me from your text like you might be mixing up watts with watthours. The latter one could be said to do "capacity to do work", in some way. But its better to just use "energy", which is what it is. Exactly the same as joule.
      Also, neither watt or or horsepower are "work" per se. They are simply "power" both of them, with just a different factor applied.

      I had a Han on loan for a weekend and measured the noise using an app. On a dry motorway it measured 69.2 Db in 80 Km/t, and I compared it to my Jaguar XF diesel who measured 71.5 Db. So slightly quieter.
      The car I used was loaned from a dealer and had Michelin tires, who are regarded as quiet tires, and the car was also Mercasol treated as an anti rust measure, but I also think they may have added sound proofing to lower the tyre noise as that has been criticized in a lot of tests.
      There's a Chinese guy who sound proofed the whole car, but unfortunately there was nothing about the result in the article. :(
      But don't get me wrong, this is not a noisy vehicle, but it could have been better.

      I havent driven any Reanult EVs but in Renault ICE cars, the cruise control is in many cases by far the worst in the business.
      Laughably bad really, I guess they had the idea no one would use it? It drops speeds, then speeds up endlessly. Even shifts down and almost gives full power sometimes. So it might just be Renaults extremly bad cruise control software that found its way into the zoe as well.

      Personally I now know how to do all this, and find the system can be useful. But it is an issue with this type of system that if you don't take care, it may not work safely. Just as making sure tyre pressures are OK and windows are clean, drivers have to take responsibility round these systems if the vehicle is to be operated safely.

    BYD software is a disaster. The only thing they care about is pumping out as many cars as possible from the factories, they either lack skilled people in the software department, or they just don't give a shit after the car is sold. I had a Tang, and in over 1 year of ownership they did basically no software updates to speak of. Sold it and bought a Tesla model Y. What a great upgrade, both build quality and software wise. I recommend you don't buy a BYD until they sort out how to make good software and other wierd problems with their cars. An important thing to mention is that BYD uses ultra thin steel in their cars, thinner than anything I've ever seen. You can basically dent the cars with your finger where the sheet metal is not curved...

      Tesla is great for people who drive, but not for people who ride.
      I have experienced the backseat of the Model Y and it makes me not want to sit in it a second time at all.
      Just in passengers' perspective, BYD is more like a luxury car, no doubt. At least the ride is very comfortable.
      Tesla's software is also useless for Chinese consumers. There is few software to adapt and FSD beta is far away to open for Chinese market.
      If Chinese consumers really care about software, they would choose AITO or AVATAR, which uses Huawei's L3 ADAS and software. Or choose NIO, XPENG and LiXiang. (Lixiang sells more than benz, bmw audi currently, in same price level).
      Around my friends, those who chose Tesla basically don't have a family, or they don't think about having the next generation (basically just they and their spouse using the car). They care more about the driving performance and social attributes of Tesla.
      Chinese netizens have summarized the "attributes" of various car enthusiasts, about Tesla users: 'use Apple, drink Starbucks, drive a Tesla, and their phone cases must be CASETiFY'. Driving Tesla is just like a 'social buff' - a tech enthusiast, a little rich, young and hip.
      Therefore, I won't choose Tesla, cause it isn't a good 'family use' car. My girlfriend and I did not take any delight in the tesla , and my family did not like riding in the tesla. In this point, the BYD han ev is without doubt a much better choice.
