Kinda Nostalgic To Look Back When I First Started Reading The Manga And The Song At The End Was Perfect. Now We Have reached The Same Point In The 2013 Greed Island Arc , For The First Time The Chirmera Ant Arc Will Begin Soon.

It’s kinda crazy that it looks like a happy ending in a serene and beautiful area, when in reality they’re about to step into a terrifying experience

ikr! I absolutely love how this version fully rides the high of Greed Island's sweet ending into Chimera Ant, instead of the dramatic swerve 2011 does.
I love how this ending was vague. We never knew if that was Ging or not back then, we were just left to speculate.

I thought it was the end it was so sad that the show ended but I was so happy for Gon.
When I discovered 2011 version back in 2018 I was disappointed that it was Kaito and not Ging :D.
Bruh, i was bummed out that they didn’t include this ending in the 2011 version! Bisky waving goodbye to the boys, we also got a glimpse of Kurapika, Leorio and Mito-san. And with that song playing in the background it’s just beautiful ❤
Man hunter x hunter was super ahead of its time. Storytelling is superb it's still better than 99% of modern shows and anime out there. They were literally gonna animate the chimera ant arc in this version if it weren't for togashis breaks

Studio Nippon still exists. There just never was enough material to make a CA OVA. By the time that would've been possible MadHouse already took over the license.

Yeah I just got to this episode in the later version, Bisky defs didn’t say I love you to the boys. I felt like their goodbye was a little short.

Totally, the old music had so much emotion and really set the atmosphere whether during a fierce battle or a happy time.
I honestly just watched a few episodes and got the idea that the reboot messed up the HxH atmosphere. In my opinion the 1999 version portrayed better the Genei Ryodan saga.
So much they complain about the fillers of the old version, but when you actually watch the series the fillers kinds of add up detail to each character development and story.
Just my opinion :P

Fillers aren't even that bad in 1999, I barely even noticed the fillers on this one.
The ship filler still one of the best too, sees the participants working together. Kurapika and Hanzo used to have chemistry.

People I think overblow the issue waaay too much.
Despite what people said, when I watched this when it first release, I thought it is pretty dam good. Now looking back, the art does seems a bit weird but I still love the detail they put in, the new one cut short for some part.

Greed island was covered in OVA's and I heard the OVA's dropped in quality, I wonder what would happen if they continued with the chimera arc
i started with the 1999 version and switched over to the 2011 version after the end of greed island, and i honestly enjoyed the 1999 version so much more, it felt so much more alive.

@@dj-yf9jg the hiatuses started all the way back to York New tho they were really short and sparse at first, the last episode of the actual 99 show was when Kurapika meets the others and Gon and Killua are food fighting each other, the arc was later completed with the release of OVAs, and later on they made the Greed Island OVAs, which were much cheaper and shittier compared to the rest of the 99 series and by the time they finished the hiatuses became more and more frequent, which made getting source material at a reliable pace on the Ant Chimera arc impossible for the studio.

What unfortunately does happen is it may feel underwhelming or not very creatively motivated when compared to the artistry of the source material (which in HxH's case, GOOD LUCK matching Togashi's masterful art) or a more artistically charged adaptation.

And an awesome opinion as well , I agree , with togashi's many hiatus the original cannot be surpassed , the anime extended and actually did some excellent creative character development and if you look at stuff like naruto and it's filler , the filler has no point at all. i should make amv's of the old version , i won't get any copyright strikes for it lol. I've been terminated by you tube 7 times now and people are uploading FULL episodes and getting away with it. Thanks :3

Unfortunately no. The Inglish dub only goes up to episode 62, the original TV run. So around the middle of Yorknew arc.

Ye, but both Genei Ryodan and Greed Island arcs were released as OVAS 3 years later the 99 version ended, this because of Togashi's hiatus. Chimera ants arc began in 2004, this is why in this OVA we only had a sneak peek of the beginning of the arc, there were plants to make chimera ants as an OVA, but this arc wasn't finished until 2012 when the hxh 2011 version was being broadcasting
