I think the 1999 did this part better. They nailed the dark and creepy atmosphere that fits Illumi so well. Also pairing it with the equally dark and eerie soundtrack.

What i love the most about his scenes is that Illumi doesn't really care about Hisoka warnings, lol. He just pretends to listen to him. It means Illumi is quite confident in himself to match Hisoka power in a battle, but he just doesn't want to make an enemy of him as long as it is not paid as his assassin job. This explains also why in the 2011 version when Hisoka suggests he could kill Killua, Illumi asks clearly to Hisoka "do you want me to kill you ?. And in the Dark continent arc, Illumi accepts Hisoka's job to try to catch and kill me. But we know Illumi doesn't accept a mission when he is not sure to have the upper hand. So how strong Illumi really is (or really think he is) ?
Excellent points all of which I'll agree with, but perhabs I can add and point out some factors that may give us an indication how a confrontation between the two would go. Remember the scene at the Chairman election arc, where Hisoka was seemingly goofing off and just annoying the Zodiacs, but really was just looking for potential playmates? That is the one bit where HXH comes closest to engaging in Powerscaling, bc Hisoka evaluates each Hunter present there (Zodiacs included) based on a scale from 1 to 100 according to their Ten/Ren most likely. While we don't know where Hisoka falls on that scale, I can tell you one thing for certain. He's not the Benchmark for 100 and that is for a couple of reasons. 1) We know he likes a challenge and relishes in facing off/duel against stronger opponents if the conditions are right and ideal by his standarts, which is why he spent so much time at Heavens arena and helped the Spiders restore Chrollo in exchange for a duel. 2)As Nen-battles are thankfully not only dictated by how much Ren and Aura you possess, but rather for what purpose you craft your Hatsu and how well you can apply it in any situation. Hisoka's Bungeegum is speficially designed to be very felixible and fit any possible situation. He's a magican and trickster by nature after all, so even though he's a very capable combatant physically, he much more relishes in finishing opponents in surprising and unexpected ways, as we've seen countless times throughout the series, which is another point as to why it makes little sense for Hisoka to rank people according to his own Aura output. 3) When he measured the Aura of the hunters there, he said if he wanted a worthwhile fight, it would have to be a Zodiac, so we can assume he's definitely around their level, what was most interesting and relevant to this disc though, is his reaction to Ginta (90 pts) and Illumi (95 pts) respectively. He was very calm, yet intrigued by Ginta being 90, however caught of guard and shocked (or aroused, with Hisoka it's hard to tell) by Illumi being 95. If Hisoka was a 100 pts himself, it would make no sense whatsoever to have such a different reaction to only a 5pt difference, so to me this means he's either 90 or 95 himself. There's also the fact that Hisoka was really facinated and impressed by Illumi's Hatsu and Nen despite seeing it many times, which means his level of power is at the very least equal if not greater to Hisoka's. So now finally, who would have an advantage in a fight between the 2? Well based on the fact how weary and cautios Hisoka was against a manipulative ability like Black voice(Shalnark's ability), which has two attena that have to be stuck into your opponent directly, it's not really favourable for Hisoka. Illumi has much more needles and can also throw them very accurately at opponents, without needing to get too close for comfort. While we can't say for certain how strong exactly Illumi is in close combat, keep in mind he's the first son and most trusted and successful offspring (so far at least) of the family, his efficiency as an assassin is definitely on par or close to Silva and Zeno. Based on that it's easy to conclude that he very likely would beat Hisoka in a straight up mano a mano affair. Without their Hatsu, Hisoka would most likely have no chance against Illumi. Also keep in mind that Hisoka pondered betraying Illumi during the Nanika chase, but ultimately decided against it, so he prob wasn't confident enough at that point to beat him in a straight up battle. It's only after his post mortem nen power up and change in code of no longer fighting honorable duels that he decided to arrange a death "match" with Illumi and the Spiders. ( Also note that Illumi basically is a superior replacement for Shalnark, but also got Uvogin's number of 11, maybe hinting at him having greater power and brawn than we could know). Last but not least, there's the narrative reasons for keeping Illumi around and defeating Hisoka or at least coming out alive of Spider battle royal. This is Hisoka's final stand, we've been with him from the beginning, but now he's innitiated his end game. Illumi on the other hand was introduced around the same time and ironically enough the first with Hisoka to display Nen, but his Hatsu was the first to be shown, yet kept in the dark and is still not fully explored and understood. He's the first Manipulator and going to be one of the strongest/proficient for sure. There's also the unfinished plot line of Illumi going after Nanika and wanting to control her power through Killua, which he seems very confident in achieving, so it would be a travesty if Illumi had to die before that plot line is resolved.
Theoretically illlumi should be stronger than hisoka he has years of professional training from his family and his ability can be used in a number of ways to increase his number of allies and his strength. Hisoka is an amazing fighter and has bungee gum which he knows how to use expertly but that’s about it.
well most part of 2011 version is to speed run the series where the 1999 version left off, that's why the pacing of 2011 is fast and didn't go much in detail and returned to normal pacing after greed island.
I think that what makes Illumi creepier is the total black eyes. In the 2011 version, his eyes are slightly red/purple and sometimes show a spiral. Not here. It shows the cold mind of the character.
I love how they used a female voice actress to played as Illumi in the 1999 version. I think it fits his character more :D -also he looks like a doll that's so adorable-

Fillers are not a part of the story, fillers are episodes created by the animators without the orignal author coming up with the plot behind them. With that said, fillers have 0 impact on the real story

これを視てる私自身、子供時代からずっと旧作を録画したビデオ(VHS)を何度も視ていたからこの声優さん達の演技が一番、心からしっくりくる。イルミもそうだし、ゴン・キルア・レオリオ・クラピカそしてヒソカなどのメインの声優さん達のキャスティングがとにかく素晴らしい作品だった。

新しい方のイルミの演技はいやらしさとか欲深さとか人間の嫌な部分がむんむんって感じで、こっちの方は昆虫みたいな無機質さとか無慈悲さとかがあって人間っぽくない感じがする

ずーっと気になって居たのですが、旧の軍艦島のオリジナルエピソードの時、クラピカの頭に包帯巻かれて手当てされた状態のシーンが有るんですが、あれってイルミさんがしたんですかね🤔他に誰もいなさそうだしな。優しいっすね。

I know it was filler and not in the manga, but I wish they would have included those scenes in the 2011 version. Togashi helped write the filler and approved of it
