@@chuckheahfort1399 Right? This one and the NGAD one? I could totally see myself getting into this, modifying the models to test some ideas... It makes it seem very accessible! 😃
used to make functional paper airplane models out of kits back in Ukraine growing up.. one day ran across an article about one of the early F fighters with top down view and side view.. happened to be typical model size, so I just copied the outlines to cardboard.. got the center of gravity right.. thing flew amazingly well. Since nobody's calling about this.. makes you think what the hell else they're working on at skunk's lair.
The fact that the model flies so well, lends some credibility to the vehicle seen in the movie being a little closer to reality. Not just a movie prop or counter-intel spoof.
To have a good flying RC model: 1) CG in the right place I.e. stable 2) Plenty of Control Power I.e. big control surfaces 3) Plenty of thrust to weight. Either low weight or high thrust or a combination. You have that here. Congratulations
@@aw_dev True, but without those three things it still will be a bitch. I have 4 full autonomous flight controllers gps etc and love the safety factor they give to bad planes.
Your videos are so satisfying. Maybe because I have probably over 3000 hours of remote control flying time over 45 - 50 years. Problem is: The time came in 30 second chunks. 💥
I hear ya! 1st you start off and inevitably, crash. 2nd you get cocky after getting better, and crash. 3rd you start modifying your crashed items, and building weird craft, inevitably crashing them during tests and late afternoons after a few drinks showing off your flying lawnmower or car... 😅😅
I’m 54 and broke. The local library has 3D printers to use and if you use the 5” drone motors instead of the expensive ducted fans you actually get higher speed for $10 a motor.
Great plane, it looks sweet flying around so easily. As you saw with your scale model, the shape and aerodynamics work. This is the shape of the future of flying.
Exactly the Spec I wanted to see! Awesome build! Keep up your amazing work and channel! Wish you was in the UK 🇬🇧 would be awesome to see it fly in person
I really enjoy your positive, upbeat attitude! I have several rc planes, but no batteries or receivers yet. (Mainly, at 71 years old, I'm afraid of crashing/ruining them...). I will use SMC batteries, as the test results show them to be top notch, and more honest about their battery specs. I am SO glad you finally made a right turn; as fast as this Darkstar was clipping along, and the fact that here in the Northern Hemisphere, vortex phenomenons rotate counterclockwise, I was concerned you were going to generate a tornado; thank goodness you negated the vortex effect with the right turn! ;-)
I am so impressed with this model I have bought a 3D printer so I can buy and download the STL files to print this. Thank you for introducing me to this exciting and new part of the hobby 😁💪
3D print bought ✅ STL file bought ✅ now I just need to understand the printing process 🙈 a bit more info on the purchasing site on that would be great especially for newby's to printing like me 👍. I have joined your Facebook group too 👍.
awesome! Never thought I'd see one of these fly irl, model or otherwise. Would be cool idea for a future video to get some of the original designs from the Ace Combat games to fly
As soon as I turned on this channel I thought it was real, keep up the awesome work and content!!! I have eighth scale Caltrain Athearn and gas RC Trucks ❤️to👀!!!
Very Nice! It's a lifting body airfoil that requires minimal control surfaces for maximum controllability. I wonder how much it would need to be scaled up to incorporate retractable landing gear.
I’d like to lay this up and only one alteration, well I’m sure it’d take a couple things. First, pov cam for goggles and recording video preferably 4K. Fantastic design. Great plane!
My twin 64mm Foam Board DarkStar didn’t fly too well. I think I had some issues with the thrust angle. I’m glad yours works better, makes me want to try again with a larger airframe. But, by no means am I as fast at building as you are!
I only recently discovered your channel, which is a damn shame as I really wish I was here since the beginning. I really enjoy your videos and how you test different air frames. I would love to know what printer you're using to print your models. My plan is to purchase a couple off Cults3D to build for myself.
Good flying creation. Could you provide information for the edf units you use. 3D printer materials used...etc I would like to try my hand at printing planes. I have been in the hobby for 50 years, Just new to 3d printing.
This flies amazing well .Now that you’ve done proof of concept, could it be designed with retractable landing gear? Not sure if there’s enough available real estate inside . Or maybe it would have to be scaled up a little to accommodate landing gear
I would guess the darkstar is an actual flying design or very close or at very least a design that got a long way through th process. That it naturally flys so well like that - it's the real deal.
How were the panel lines done? They appear to be cut into the model and not painted on. Are they printed like that or did you cut them carefully with a hot knife or other tools? Whatever the case may be, they look really well done and make the model pop.
I watched a few of your assembly videos and was thinking... (Dangerous 😆) Anyway, do you think adding locator bumps and divits would help ensure that pieces were perfectly placed for gluing? Is it even possible? 🤔
of all the nice builds you have made, i realy would like to see you to recreate the German WO2 Horton 229 the beautifull first flying wing jet design and see how this old design holds to these magnificant models.
You may not be interested at all but, I saw a video of a pterosaur recently uncovered and as pterosaurs go, this one is `rc plane size`. Maybe the size of an average sailplane. So, with a little measuring this ancient flier could be made to fly again all be it as an rc. Not only would it be just cool, palentologist would probably showcase this model and feature it in a few `first flight in millions of years` videos. Just a thought.
A really fast flyer! If you could place two batteries in the fuselage and hooked up in parallel, would it fly twice as long? If the turbines would take it and hooked with series batteries and series turbines would it fly longer and a way lot faster.? Series turbines and batteries mean that the turbines run at the regular voltage. Could you check if the controller can run twice the voltage? If you get an electronics designer (or yourself) to make secondary controller that can run at twice volts and battery controller that would use transistors to run the higher voltage to the turbines. I really want to get you to fly the wings off that plane!
51 missed calls from Lockheed
😂🤣😂🤣
Well, whatever you do, DO NOT PICK UP THE PHONE!
And 72 emails from some Chinese "company ".
And 2000 downloads from Ukraine 🇺🇦 ❤😅
And just one from me in France 😜😁
Congratulation for your creation
Man...
I'm not a plane guy (although I love the SR series)
I'm not an RC guy...
But these, all of them, are amazing! 🤩
Same!
Ditto!
Amazing! Your videos of the thrust vector model and the dark star model inspire me to want to peruse this as a hobby. Outstanding air frames. 👊🇺🇸🧂

This thing is flying TOO well.
I'm sure someone in the Pentagon is sharing this video.

This version looks even slicker, and it appears that the increase in control surfaces is giving it greater maneuverability.
I am genuinely surprised it flies it looks fantastic flies really well looks really good and I love the sound of it
The fact that the model flies so well, lends some credibility to the vehicle seen in the movie being a little closer to reality. Not just a movie prop or counter-intel spoof.
The prop was actually made by Skunkworks.
My man is out here pushing the hobby into a new era
The whole thing is a wing! What performance!!!
There have been "flying wing" aircraft since 1940.
Thank you for making me feel like an excited 11 year old again--you are amazing.

I love the real jet sounds in the background. While you're flying the wine of those jet engines and the sky makes the rc plane sound awesome
i like the sound of the airliner above your head at 3mn20s ... it sounds like this is your rc plane sound ... 🙂
I can experience the exhilaration as you launched this beautiful beast! She's on rails! Amazing work of art!
Could you make a video on how to assemble these beasts?

Just made my Monday morning! Superb. You have made a stunning bird - the handling is unreal.
I remember flying the real Darkstar back in the 90s, your version really moves like the real thing! Good job!
Sold! I'm going to build one. Excellent work and thank you. I'm interested in NGAD too! Your one of my favourite channels.
This is sick might have to print this thing up it kooks super cool

Nice work, Kyle. Always good to see my "baby" (NX radios) being put to good use!
Hard to comprehend this radical design toys so well. Thanks for the video, I will have to print one for myself.

That’s very cool, this puppy was on rails. Very impressed. 👍🏻
