same with concerts, remember how much excitement and anticipation we had waiting for the date to arrive, it was the only way to "see" the musicians actually move, no video only radio, im glad i was around in the late 70s to early 90s to participate in such a magical time, Thanks

I would give my right arm to grown up
In NYC at that time. I’ve been obsessed with NYC since I was 8 years old in 1980.

Great episode!!!.And so true, thingz will never be like what they were. I was on the west coast and Midwest in the 80s and got inside the Whisky, Roxy, Rainbow, Troubadour, Gazzarri's. And the Midwest had a nice scene too. BUT, it'll never be like Sunset Blvd after the sun went down. When the clubs were filled with now-iconic bands!!! And when the clubs were "Nuts to butts", the crowds were on the sidewalks. Bands flyering like Vampires..and when the sidewalks were packed, it went into the streets, and the LAPD did nothing. It was THE BEST, and fuck YESSSSSS we're so fortunate to have experienced it AND LIVED!!! 🤘🦇🕷🎶🎶 -J.s.

You could write a whole book on your club days/NY scene. I grew up on Long Island in the 80’s/90’s and heard stories about the places you talked about. Great to hear about it from someone who was neck deep in it. Great work!

Very well said....the energy part too! Was looking at some Clubs in Vegas. That's when I learned about reserving tables, bottle service etc. A person is basically renting a table & service for the evening. How much fun can that be especially for the price. My son tells me often how much I had it made because the options we had are now gone. Great rock bars, concerts where a laminate was really a laminate & not some trinket you get because you bought the Super Duper Platinum Package. An average person actually had an opportunity to get good seats by standing in line most of the night prior to the ticket window opening. Now it's whoever has the most cash. I had an outdoor concert venue almost in my back yard. You could bring in all the beer, booze & drugs you wanted. None of this $15 bux a beer rip off now. Can still hear those concert announcements that we all heard on the radio. Yeah, that guy with the voice! Not sure if you're aware of what's happening on Broadway in Nashville. It's not Country anymore. It's 70's & 80's rock cover bands with some 90's pop/rock material. Not much metal but they do play "War Pigs".

Thanks for the comment! Yes I know about Lower Broadway in Nashville. Sad. It’s not what it used to be. No more true country except at Robert’s Western World! Yes the golden days are over as far as nightclubs, concerts etc. Glad i grew up when i did . Thanks for watching 🙏

Haha! Another spot I’ve staggered out of a bunch of times. That’s a trip that you were the DJ in the coffee lounge at Tunnel. I’m sure our paths crossed at one time or another. Not that I remember much of those times😂🤦🏼‍♂️. Great times!!!

    Lфve this episode
I am always fascinated by the “club kid” world style of NYC as in those daze I believe was referred-to “ The Vampire State “ an innuendo of the state motto.
I briefly ran away to NYC in the 90’s to go explore the nightlife
I love the area of Hells Kitchen
ST’ Marks Place and Mars Bar
great history lesson you give us, you’re bloody-brilliant music \ life history purveyor.
Can not wait to buy a few copies of your book!
