I buy flagships so the powerful processor can do everyday tasks easily and smoothly without heating or lagging and will be able to catch with years of major software updates without the hardware being outdated. Also, a powerful cpu will be more power efficient doing everyday tasks, whereas a mid or low cpu will be pushing its limits to.

Doesn’t this phone do most tasks easily and slowly? I understand that if you game or do lots of demanding tasks maybe but surely the Pixel 8 pro works fine for everyday use. I use phones for basic use and for photography.

You see a phone that uses their OWN software and its created by them with bigger mah batteries can barely last like a phone with 3800 battery. It is a dogshit exactly because they refuse to use the best manufacturer in the game and thats Qualcomm. No excuse to price it like flagship, but put a mid range "heart "inside. I never game on phones myself , but good enough is not a phrase u want to use when they charge you like other brands that put only the best inside their products period.

    • @connorburke5761
      @connorburke5761 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

A lot more goes on in the background with faster processors that you don't notice until you use them. Everything is slower on my Pixel compared to the S23 Ultra (app switching, core app loading, animations, etc), to the point that its actually annoying. Not to mention the fact that faster processors *process faster* meaning they are inherently more efficient since they are running at higher speeds and power for less time. Also other mobile CPUs have extra chips on them to help things like AI and camera processing and stuff (which was the whole reason google switched to using their own anyway. And I guess to be more like Apple and hopefully have a perfect android phone with perfect optimization). So yeah the Pixel 8 Pro is decent enough in most cases but you definitely notice the lack of efficiency and power pretty much all the time. Its a Galaxy A55 competitor with flagship cameras.

I feel like all tech has stalled, it's just small incremental improvements now that the average users are not going to care about. It's fast every time they make a new chip, it literally makes no difference anymore.
And eventually everything will slow down anyways as updates nerf performance, making you buy new phones

If you're obsessed with having the latest and greatest I guess this would matter but I got the Pixel 8 Pro this week and I gotta tell you this thing is zippy as hell. Does far more than I need it to do and I appreciate that as I tend to keep a phone long past their release.

Yeah thats true. My pixel 6 pro was at use quite few years and i droped it few days ago (rip matrix, fuck curve screen). Camera is op of course, but the productivity is kinda underwhelming. Still good to use but i expected much less small bugs, inconveniences and all that stuff from google. Fingerprint speed is a flaw too. Ill wait for pixel 9 to release anyway but am heavily considering xiaomi 14 rn. It has all that good stuff in terms of hardware, not that expensive and camera seems to be decent too

I bought a Google pixel 8 couple of weeks ago with 2-3 weeks. I observed that there is a scratch below the display panel. However, the phone is not been dropped anytime or there is no physical damage or mishanding. I was surprised to see this scratch when I took it for the service center to get it checked and the worst service center in India - Bangalore which they denied saying that it's physically damaged. Surprisingly, how can someone go below the display and damage it and it's not a crack? It's a scratch which is visible only when the displays off and viewed from a particular angle. I tried explaining them and even to the Google support team which do not have physical access to the phone, they were just sticking to physically damage term, Surprisingly they are also depended on the local third party vendor who has taken the Google phone service, I am totally disappointed

I have used the Pixel 6 Pro for almost 3 years now, and I can tell you the battery life is terrible when using data. However, Pixel phones are still the kings of point-and-shoot photography, especially for moving objects, and that matters to me more. I am using the iPhone 15 Pro right now, and the display, battery, and everything else are miles better than the Pixel 6 Pro. But the camera, especially for point-and-shoot photography of moving objects, is where the Pixel 6 Pro beats it convincingly. This is where I miss my Pixel 6 Pro; I just can’t get used to the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro. I don’t care about benchmarks as I don’t play games at all. I didn’t have any issues with the Pixel 6 Pro except for its horrible battery life on data, which was a maximum of 3 hours of screen-on time. I am sure the same battery life issues will be present with the Pixel 8 Pro as its reviews aren’t good, mainly due to the Samsung Exynos modem Google has used. I think the Pixel 9 series will have the same issues. The Pixel 10 may break free as it will be from TSMC .

This phone does well for being cheap for sure, pixel 10 is confirmed to be on schedule for their first in house made tensor google chip
This will truly be their make or break moment as to whether or not they can truly compete against samsung on benchmarks, software, and hardware usage
Quick edit: the reason the current tensor chips may not be as efficient as google wants to promise or hope for is because it's actually a samsung chip, google does not have a way to make their own chips yet

I get what people are saying about the power but here are some reasons why a more powerful soc actually is important:
    - Opening and loading in apps is faster, this is obviously nice but also decreases the Time-To-Idle time, meaning the soc can get back to a power saving state faster
    - photos are quicker to take. Ever notice how iPhones can just tap the camera button and always take a photo instantly? And they can keep tapping to instantly take more photos. Pixels often struggle here outside of perfect lighting conditions.
    - more advanced photo processing is possible
    - more advanced AI is theoretically possible
    - apps can have more advanced graphics and animations
    - if the SoC achieves greater power output for the same energy usage, it will use less power and have better battery life

I bought the phone and had to return it 7 days later, because it kept freezing, the camera lagged, you’d be watching a video and try and pause it none of the keys would work. The battery absolutely drains in like 10 min when you hotspot with it, and the back of the phone is made of cheap material and scratches easily

I don't like about the pixel and what I can't believe you didn't touch on is the heating issue and the battery due to the crappy chip they're using with Samsung. The pixel won't be a true flagship in terms of Chip battery, heat management, etc. Until they get away from partnering with exynos for the tensor
