Yes you can turn on navigation buttons in Display settings area, i see you got it. Really, most of Samsung features went from Google, and it is just polished Pixel features, so you can do everything the same way (exception: Dex)
Or Smartthings....never really used it much when I had my S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro, but now with my Fold 6 and S24 Ultra, I use it every day. It's so convenient with my 75" Samsung Smart TV.
The protective foil on the camera might end up creating unwanted glares when shooting towards the sun. Just something to keep in mind in case it does come up and you're wondering if the camera is just being finicky. Also, if the foil is covering up the temperature sensor, you will not get correct readings from it. I couldn't tell from the video if the foil is actually covering the sensor or not.
I'm kindof in the same boat as you. I currently have the Samsung S21 FE and I am thinking of getting the Pixel 8 soon. I have always gotten Samsung phones and I finally need a change.
@@Jarvis2077 The S23 FE is also an option. But from what I heard people are saying to avoid it (not because it's bad) but because there are better options out there. I'd wait for the Pixel 9 Pro/Pro XL to release.
@@JohnJacksonFreezewould defo avoid S23 FE. The S23s can already be bought at heavily discounted prices, and even the S24s can be bought for half MSRP over on Swappa
Depending on what you do, it will. If you aren't getting any heating issues, you live in a cold climate, or only use your phone lightly (phone text) and light social media. Some gaming and recording video can make the 8 Pro heat up. Not like the 6 Pro. 6 Pro felt like it was going to melt. lol.
I always wanted to get a Pixel but recently I have decided to get Nothing Phone 2. It's good with almost stock android like pixel. And I am happy for you for selecting Pixel, congratulations and all the best. BTW I went through your channel and your videos are so good so soothing I'm subscribing to you. Keep making videos.
if you want to experience true pixel os, you can flash evox or pixel star rom. They are almost same as the pixel os. Even the rom spoofs the phone as pixel 8 pro. As an np2 user, I'm using Evo x rom and it almost identical as pixels. Experience is way good.
I love Google smartphones. I plan on getting either the 8a, 8 Pro, or the upcoming 9 series. Their software is clean and is almost as fluid as iOS. I currently have the Pixel 6a.
Unfortunately the pixel 8 had a worse finger print sensor. Pixel has an optical sensor (not one of the best ones either) so it needs light to work The Samsung has an ultrasonic one so no light needed plus it is faster. (This is what is being used on the pixel 9)
I believe all optical fingerprint sensors need light to work which is why they shine their own light. Also not all samsung phones use the ultrasonic fingerprint. The cheaper samsungs use the optical readers...... Ultrasonic sensors are nice but one disadvantage of them is that they don't work well with Glass screen protectors unfortunately. I use glass screen protectors on all the phones I had except for my galaxy note 10+
The Samsung phone mentioned at the beginning of the video was the Samsung s21 (which the original poster of the video mentions they had before switching to the pixel). It has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
The Google also has the little buttons you don’t need to keep it on the swipe although I find that much better lol just go in to settings and you can change it from there x
Google phones are the definition of being the "smart" in smartphones. It's just an overall high-tech phone. Albeit, the features being sometimes experimental/seasonal. But you still get the coolest stuffs nonetheless.
the s21 uses ultrasonic fingerprint so that's why its faster and more responsive. it doesnt need light for it to work. the google pixel uses optical fingerprint which requires bright light for it to scan your fingerprint. ultrasonic is superior to optical fingerprint. you can find underdisplay optical fingerprint being used in cheaper smartphones (around 300 price range, like samsung A series smartphone)
It's a good phone but i'd watch out since the phone tends to overheat a lot. I've had the pixel 2 and 7 and 7 seems to just overheat doing normal tasks.
@BarrelTitor91 why not? It's a product that costs pretty penny. I expect phone from Google to work without issues that's running operating system made by Google.
Great choice you're going to really enjoy it. I've had my Pixel 8 pro since it launched. I use it as my backup phone my daily driver is my Samsung S24 Plus.
If anyone use Pixel and prefers 3 button navigation instead of gesture navigation then do that - Go into Settings, then Display and then Navigation mode and click on 3-button navigation.
I prefer buttons. I always disabled gestures on my previous android phones. But I was playing around with the pixel settings and figured out how to change it from the default gesture navigation to button navigation instead, so it's all good. I have the buttons on the bottom of the screen now.
Marques is a shill not a tech youtuber. Its his job to sell it to people. Worst time to get into Pixels, Google offers the worst trade ins for their own phones. Only reason you should buy Pixel is Graphene OS.
You shouldn't get a pixel because of trade in value ? There's a reason these phones have 7 years of updates now. And this gripe is odd , I never hear people saying this about apple. In fact the only brand I know that goes over the top with trade in deals is Samsung. Even one plus doesn't go over the top with trade in deals.
@@omarreid7222 Whats the reason? My two 7 year and one 9 year old smartphones get updates. Why are you bringing updates into this? Update wont upgrade your battery or cpu.
I love Google Pixel smartphones. They have the most advanced photography algorithms in the world! Thank you for the video.
Huge respect to people who don't do social media much.

Sweet! I'm contemplating getting the regular Pixel 8, and coming from Samsung I was concerned about the UI change. Good to know I can make it similar.
Turn on the AOD and you'll be able to place the finger on the fingerprint
Congratulations🎉
Welcome to the 8 Pro family.
that's a well thought out purchase you made ....congrats 👍 it's a great phone
Best of photography and software.
Congratulations! You got the coolest colour.
Pixel 9 series is launching today...
Honestly, so far, based on initial reviews, the Pixel 9 Pro isn't worth the upgrade from the 8 Pro. Let's see what they do for the 10 Pro.
As long you enjoy your purchase and it adds value to everyone life its a great purchase... Rest of the negative comments you can Ignore... ✌️
The image processing of Pixel phones is at a different level. I'm planning to get one too.
Congratulations 🎉❤
Enjoy it, its a great phone
Congrats
Got mine a few months ago & still testing the camera

Very good choice!

Turn always on display you can directly use fingerprint without screen on

You’ll need to enable always on display to unlock without tapping the phone
Same here! I got the 8 pro a month ago. I love it!! How is your experience so far with the pixel?
The pixel 8 pro is fantastic but i absolutely love my s24 ultra ❤
for the fingerprint thing you don't like you can turn on always on display and it will fix that:)
Great video. I’m still debating on getting the 8 pro or the Honor magic 6 pro any help appreciated. Anyone ?
do u prefer samsungs one ui or googles stock android? for me i dont like oneui , stock android beats everything , even ios

Porcelain looks the best imo it just looks clean
128 GB or 256 GB Storage ??? If you opted for 128GB then plz explain why ???
Should've waited for the newly released Pixel 9, either get that one, or an 8 on sale.

Its the network usage. Try wifi or use firewall. Or install Graphene OS and your phone wont spy on you.
@BarrelTitor91 well, it overheats browsing the web on wifi. I didn't come here to ask about privacy 3rd party ROMs or how to do it.

waiting for the 9 to go on sale, 'cuz that thing got gemini written all over it .....
tbh i like my nothing 2a :3
Pixel 8 pro has old chip comparable to s21 from Samsung. Pixel 9 pro is like s22
Good choice, i went with Samsung and i completely regret my decision because i cannot stand OneUI at all

Samsung also has gestures 😂 u were only using buttons

Why don't you use an iphone instead?
iPhones are probably the most overrated phones out, they’re good but u can do so much more with flagship android phones
