    It's a beautiful day here today in Bucks County PA, I am going to drain the water out of it after lunch and put coolant in it and probably take it for a nice drive. New tires are on it now and I am loving this truck as much as any other one I have right now!

    I love the Ford 300's my 1978 F-150 has it and they never die. Dentsides are my favorite kind of Ford truck none of that new crap.

      Yeah, I like dent sides as well as my bullnose. I’m working on 86 right now there one of the last trucks that are all metal as well. Only plastic is the grill. All I need to get to driving is a new brake booster.

    Awesome Dent Side, I love the patina. I inherited my Grandfather's 73 F100 Custom, short bed. It has around 100K miles on the original 240 inline 6, 3 on the tree. Very little rust. I put some chrome reverse rims and baby moons. Looks pretty cool too.

    I love it!! I have grown to love the straight 6. I own a 77 f150 that I would love to install an offenhauser intake and new carburetor on. I've read that it really makes a big difference in the motor.

    I drove an identical truck in the early 80s in high school. It was gray in color which got baked in the sun and revealed the red primer. It had the 300 three on the tree as well. No power steering, no ac, no frills. Replaced a head gasket with minimal tools and a Chiltons manual. Sold the truck in 1986 for $3500 to buy an 82 z28. Love the channel.

    I don’t doubt this truck has been parked for a long time but would argue the Sear shocks don’t prove this. They only prove the shocks are old. Cool old rig though.

    • @DentsideDepot

      True, I was just gathering evidence that supports that it was. The plates do have a 1992 registration sticker on them though, so that right there is pretty conclusive. The seller had no reason to lie to me, especially after I had already paid him for the truck :)

      @@DentsideDepot I was wondering, what size studs/part# did you use on the intake for that throttle cable bracket I just ran into the issue that mine were too short i’ve been working on this motor for years and finally got it in the truck and almost ready to go and can’t mount that throttle bracket because my studs are too short

    I love that motor I had one in my 1995 f150. Thanks for sharing this video with us that is a great truck you’re a lucky man I’m hoping one day maybe I can find one like that with that motor that is a great motor I don’t know why Ford ever stopped making that motor.

    • @georgehuerta1990
      @georgehuerta1990 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DentsideDepot yeah that motor is such a classic motor in the truck that I had I was pulling an 18 foot Boston whaler with 150 hp Yamaha and that truck and motor would pull it down the highway and hardly struggle at all and that was a heavy boat with a big ass motor. That’s why someday I’m gonna buy me another truck with that motor in it and have it rebuilt where it’ll last me until I die.

    • @georgehuerta1990
      @georgehuerta1990 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mr-er6fg What about omissions when you buy an old truck it’s grandfathered in the 95 96 trucks had emission controls in them. I would love to see this engine in a modern vehicle I believe that engine would put out probably about 360 hp 400 pounds of torque easily. Maybe even a lot more because back in the day in my truck it was putting out I think 250 hp with 300 pounds of torque. That was back in 1995 it was such a great engine and it never had problems it would just run and run and run that’s all that engine ever did that’s probably the reason they stop making it they couldn’t sell parts for it.

    • @Mr-er6fg
      @Mr-er6fg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @georgehuerta1990 the question was "Why did they quit making this engine". Answer- EMISSIONS!

    Glad I watched, was putting my carb on "backwards" like you did at first, thinking not that big of deal. But after seeing how it affected idle, will now put on like design was intended.

    I just rebuilt my 300 in a 74 F100 short bed and it runs OK but I would like to have headers for mine. I put the elgin RV cam and comp valvetrain components but the engine is only happy pulling up to 4000 rpm with stock manifold, cam and offenhauser intake with edelbrock 500 cfm. I did jet carb to best suit the engine.

    What a great channel I Just subscribed I’ve got a 69 F100 I’m going to be pulling the 360 and replacing it with a 300 I’m in the process of collecting parts for a short block I bought I’ve got an Offy intake do you have a link for that bracket you got off Amazon for the carb? Semper Fi
    I just saw in the video you removed it and rotated your carb I’ve got a Holley 2300 500 cfm 2 bbl I plan on using but my intake is the Offy C so maybe I won’t have issues?

    • @DentsideDepot
      @DentsideDepot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking out the channel! The bracket actually didn't work out for me only because I had to flip the carb around since it is a dual plane intake. If you use a single plane intake it will work, just type in throttle bracket on amazon and many options will come up, anyone will work. So yes, for the type C it should work and that seemed to be a really good setup. Remember to get a throttle cable too :)

    DONT you STILL have the carb 180 degrees out of phase?
    just asking cuz last time i seen a guy mention making this mistake he had it with the throttle cable at the front of the carb, unless its just totally different carbs?
