This is something I did to my 1979 Ford F100 big 6 4.9. Offenhauser intake C type,Holley 4 barrel 390 cfm, Hedman headers. It made a world of difference.Plus the truck is blue also.
Myself I would have went with the parts from Clifford Performance. But I'm also a little bit biased. I used to work for Jack Clifford back in 1979 till 1984. It was one of the better jobs I've had in my life. 6=8.
So glad I subbed. I'm new to Fords. Just bought a 79 f250 4wd , 4speed, with the 4.9. I got it cheap, because people always want a V8. They have no clue how good these 300s are. This vid has taught me a lot about taking things apart on this engine. I can't understand why the alt has two belts?
Hey awesome and welcome to the channel! I have no idea, but it sure works well. The 300 is such an under rated engine. The rest of this build will be posted over the next two Fridays!
Often times people would run two belts when using a larger alternator. It takes more tension to produce more anps so two belts won't slip. That's one reason.
I would like to see the EFI intake with a carburetor on the dyno top please. That EFI intake has great looking long runners. Ought to make great midrange,.
@@JeffKopis I think they work to but I know the ones that came factory on a 230 fit for sure. There 1.75 ratio the adjustable rocker 300 fords are 1.6 so it gives it a fair bit more valve lift. Easy little swap that helps high rpm a little. I did it to a 1972 F350,
Yup, this is a really common upgrade on the 300. They drop right in and away you go. Basically a "poor man's" cam. Not nearly enough lift for coil bind or anything. However, they don't work on pedestal rockers, which were used after around 85 or 86. For that, Scorpion roller rockers on summitracing do the same thing.
@@tonylashmit2613good guess, but its actually the carb. It needs to be spun 180 degress since this is a dual port intake. I wont realize this mistake until part 3.
I think the carb should go the way you 1st installed it. I'll be installing mine this way. I have more cam and I want the primaries into the larger port for less restriction. Also consider the fact that the vacuum secondaries may never open up all of the way or not at all in normal driving. Common sense says the smaller port should manage the smaller airflow from the secondaries. When you actually do floor it the primaries DO open 100%. Think about it. You have two choices. Not to mention the throttle cable hook up is simpler.
The Aussie Speed 4v intake is significantly better than the Clifford or Offenhauser 4v intakes. The carburetor location on the Aussie Speed intake makes the fuel /air distribution much closer to equal. My 300 6 got so much better after the switch from Offenhauser to Aussie Speed.
Can't believe the intake/exhaust nuts/bolts come off so easily... I guess I'd better watch a channel where real life happens...meanwhile thank you sharing

Is it true Clifford elevates the hp and tq figures?

This is so cool. Hoping to pick up a truck with this engine. The efi and all smog crap is going in the garbage tho!😂

Nice video man love it.
Appreciate it! This will be the format moving forward most likely.
Nice I subscribed. I’ll enjoy it. I’m seeing the update on it.
A set of chevy 6cyl rockers off a 230 fit perfect on a 300 six ford and give it way more valve lift due to rocker ratio.
Useful info! How about 250 or 292 rockers?
