Trapping season gives me a nice break from chasing deer. I will also take a few days and rabbit and squirrel hunt! Always come back to the stand fresh and ready for more! Good luck Ethan! I love that younger hunters are passionate as many of us ol timers were at that age.
I am ate up with it! Weirdly enough, this is all I've ever wanted to do. I enjoy hunting coyotes with the thermal. That seems to be a fun way for me to take my mind off of whitetail mode!
Its been dead here in Southern MN for us. Deer moving at night. Hoping this cold coming in gets them moving in the daylight more. We r going to hunt the food and evening sits. Keep hunting hard, you're due! Loving the footage, keep er comin bud
I gave up chasing bucks that lived on neighboring properties. Hunt the best buck that lives nearby that moves during shooting hours. That big 8 back in October comes to mind! You've had some awesome encounters - been a great season. Good luck the rest of the way.
Hey Ethan, I got a 15 pointer this past Friday evening, at 4:30 pm. He was traveling a creek bed, assuming that he was trying to scent check the thermals looking for a late estrous doe. It did not hurt that the farmer across the creek was finally combining his corn, but he was still 300 yards away, and this buck did NOT come out of the corn. I slowed him with a few grunts, but when he dropped out of site into the creek bed, I snort/wheezed and he popped right back up, into site. He was a mature buck, guessing 4.5 years of age, and weighed 211 lbs., field dressed. To you and your viewers I would like to wish a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Wow, that is awesome to hear! Congratulations, you deserve that one! Was he traveling the downwind side of the corn field? It's always cool to hear of these Late November successes! With any luck, I can add my name to the pot!
The one thing that has worked for me is humbling but sometimes works. I have 9 stands or blinds, once it feels like I am beat I will pick the stand that has not been hunted or hunted the least. And go spend two full days hunting that spot. Throwing in the towel and admitting my thinking has not worked, so I give the spot I have no faith in a real chance, and sometimes that pays off.
Im a mobile hunter and seek fresh deer sign to choose my spots in all parts of the season. Super difficult to sit in spots hoping without facts. I am a follow-the-evidence kinda guy. I might start in a set stand for a morning, but I tend to scout my way in a certain direction to get out of the woods and if I find fresh sign I set up there immediately. If I do not see fresh sign then I simply scout my way back to my truck. I also tend to do a lot of 1st sits which means I bounce around. for me its all about adjusting to the current sign.
I do a lot of the same. I scout a ton during shed season, and use that general knowledge and “lay of the land” in my strategy when I’m choosing to push in during the rut.
I focus on the few scrapes that are being refreshed. There's usually a couple of new rubs nearby. Stay after it.
I tend to see a lot of nocturnal movement on my scrapes. It’s great for inventory!

With the rut it's either good action or it's not, keep after it Ethan! I feel a big buck is about to slip up for you.
I hope so! Thanks for watching!
Busted.
For sure!

New spots usually bring new hope!
@@ethan_stubbs When the location I have no faith in works I hear that Redhead from Game of Thrones in my head , "You know nothing Jon Snow"!
