Yes, one of the boy passed away while attending a school in Britain. However, very limited information was released by the British govt. about what actually went wrong and they ruled it out as suicide but his family did not believe so because he adjusted quite well being there and they talked everyday. So, what really happened we’ll never know 😢
The lead diver in the rescue John Volanthen lives in same little town I come from in England, if you watch the film 'Thirteen lives' his son has the school jumper on in which I also went to. The film is well worth the watch if you've not seen it.
Me.and my wife went to the cave three weeks ago. It's such a sobering place. When we left to drive back to Chiang Rai just past the house with the tyre animals, the road does a sharp left. There's a restaurant in a person's garden. It was amazing food cooked by a wonderful family.
Admirable--please be careful the most dangerous things in Thailand are the roads and drivers -play it as safe as you can--2 other things- check you saddle height--looks a bit low and I would highly suggest getting clipless pedals--SPDs with shoes you can walk on pavement and trails etc.. this will conserve and help with leg muscles-- flat shoes is kind of one dimensional pedaling with lots of stress on your quads--- Get them as soon as you can and practice with them-- life changer--Bon Voyage
NIIICE! This is a fabulous intro to this series. Good to see the cave and how that's been fixed up in the past few years. You look like a champ (for now) hahaha
Geordies on tour! Hope you’ve got some shelter for the next 24 hours as we are in Chiang Mai, about to head to pai tomorrow and it’s currently thunder and lightening! Good luck! Love all your videos!
Really looking forward to watching this series . What a beautiful location to start in Chiang Rai in Mae Sai ( I have been fortunate to have been there also ) You looked good wearing your Toons top ..
so looking forward to this paddy....................keep your spirit and soul way up there🙏🚲please get a hi vis sticker on your back/helmet somewhere mate....your toon shirt blends in with the road from a distance🙏
Hey Paddy, as an AVID cyclist I’d recommend you raise your seat an inch or two so your legs ALMOST fully extend on each push.. this will save you some knee pain.. have a great trip!
I was going to say the exact same thing, raise that seat a bit. Some cycling shoes with cleats will make your trip so much easier on your body as well. Good luck and very excited to watch your next adventure. A stick to fight off the dogs too, I have been taken down three times by dogs. @@PaddyDoyle.
Be careful, cycling in Thailand is too dangerous with high rate of accident.
Pretty impressive. I've enjoyed your videos since Motorcycling every province in Thailand. It's intriguing and fun to see something different that other aren't doing.
Hey Paddy, I don't know if you read this, but it was wonderful seeing you yesterday. I hope your tour to the floating villages today was wonderful. You absolutely made our day. One question we still had is, how often are you being recognized? All the best for you Marius and Cosima
Another fantastic video! The 360 camera offers an incredible perspective! Summer heat and the rainy season are approaching! Be sure to cover up and protect your skin from the harsh sun!
I'm so so so looking forward to this series! Well done what a great trip. Also agree with you on cloudy weather, i love it and no one ever agrees with me 😆
Hey Paddy I've been a cyclist for ~13 years & following your content for 3+ years. It was fun watching you ride Dreamy across Thailand but wow is it a surprise to see you taking on a similar challenge by bicycle! Good luck on your adventure! Cheers!
Just starting your series so maybe you’ve already figured it out. Komoot is awesome for routing/navigation, especially if you’re looking to get on smaller roads and not just stick to the highways. Also your seat looks low, hopefully you figure that out before too long!
Yes those boys are all an inspiration as is the Thai diver that died trying to save them. Thanks to the Aussie 🇦🇺 and British team who remarkably got them all out safely along with the Thai authorities.
As an endurance cyclist who has ridden extensively in Thailand I recommend that you mix 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt into your bottle of Gatorade/electrolyte beverage. Do not rely on water alone for hydration, once it gets super hot you will sweat a lot of salt.
I'm excited to see your bicycling adventure unfold. The tour with Dreamy was fabulous but this is quite daring! Wishing you the best of luck and safe travels!
I knew a Dutch couple that used to fly to Chiang Mai, then pick up their 'stored' bikes to ride around Thailand for their vacation. One year, they rode from C.M. to Phnom Penh and back. Another year the rode from C.M. to Penang and return.
When I cycled across Thailand eventually I got comfortable cycling 100k each day, and trying to get out of the sun by maybe 2pm , but I always liked eating breakfast with the locals in small villages and towns so good luck I hope you enjoy your trip
I cycled newzealand a few years back, pedal clips helps if you don’t like cycling shoes, 27 speed gets you over the steepest hills but you do work hard. Good luck, I guarantee it will be you best achievement so far:-)
Sorry to be cynical, but is Paddy only back in Thailand to try and garner the views that he’s not getting visiting Antarctica or riding a pointless electric tuk tuk around Sri Lanka. He captured something special with his visiting every province of Thailand on that tiny little bike that doesn’t seem to translate to trekking through Switzerland. His motorbike riding in Laos and Vietnam were epic too. I’m not sure he gave Cambodia a truly fair shake though.
Good to see you back . I have more than 20 yr relationship with that cave some great pics from deep inside. Nice flat great cycling area. And such a nice climate. Looking forward to the series. Cheers
I love that you are putting this out there. It will be useful, honest and admirable. Can’t wait to see how this lays out👍 Mae Sai was super busy when we were there, beautiful!
This is an awesome challenge! I've been looking forward to this new series. It will be interesting to revisit some places from your earlier travels, as well as some new things. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us :)
Awesome ! Mae Say is a great start Paddy, i loved that you enjoyed Myanmars tea leaf salad, it`s the best ! Woowing about your power and your will to endure this new challenge - it is a long distance down to the south ! Keep smiling Paddy your next level is first class and top notch 👍i love it !💯❤
So awesome, I need to do something like this and get back in to shape myself (well, maybe not across the entire country but you get the idea). Great and inspiring start mate, keep up the good work!
Awesome challenge! Make sure your seat is at the best height. Your knee should just bend a little when your leg is fully extended. Most efficient that way.
Brilliant.....ive done a few little tours on my brompton in Thailand. I can only say i have 3 bits of advice. - Try to stay off the main highways - Try to start earlier (around 6am latest) due to the temperature - And bring something to deter dogs.....they can be aggressive as you probably know. I bring a Dazer II to prevent them chasing me. This will be epic.....
Hiya Paddy. Great intro. Lunch looked good. You should definitely feel fitter after these adventures. Perfect weather for riding. That was something else the story of the boys. How scared they must have been. Good call with the padded bottoms. I bet you can not wait to See T S. Great video. I can not wait for more.
I'm a non-cyclist, but I loved your first day on the road. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the journey. Do you have a name for the bike yet? The subtitle typist referred to you as Patty and I thought for a minute that that was the bike's name. Good luck with the rest of the big adventure.♥
Amazing footage that you are able to film yourself on the bike without a selfie stick! Wow! And one thing not mentioned is the talent you need to keep having interesting things to say whilst cycling in stretches of road with nothing new to see nor explore. Well done! Looking forward to episode 2 already!
You don't look like an inexperienced cyclist. Your fitness for the moderate paced riding will quickly improve, strength and high end cardio for the steep hills not so much. Your 'sit bones' will also toughen up quite quickly. Good luck!
Cycling tips from lifelong ex top road racing cyclist Tires check daily set at 50 psi Gears do not push big gears Eat & drink often to prevent bonk Cadence very important What is an ideal cycling cadence? Generally, a good cadence in cycling is between 80-100 rpm. Beginner cyclists often pedal rather slowly, around 60-85 rpm. Racers and more experienced hobbyists usually average between 75-95 rpm, and pros can sustain over 100 rpm during attacks or more than 110 rpm during sprints. Good Luck and Keep Safe🙏
Welcome back to Thailand looking forward to see more EP in Thailand. Stay safe paddy , I follow you since you travel in Thailand by motor bike . Cheers from BKK.🎉
Hey Paddy, good luck, you can do it and I hope your videos are as great as the rest, I'm really looking forward to it, but on the bike wow respect dude👌👍
Wow that’s amazing Paddy, that’s some mission and I’m sure a sore arse just a little bit off feedback. Try to raise your saddle up little bit so your legs are nearly straight when the pedal is on the 6 o’clock. This will help you pedal and be more efficient, less effort. Wish you all the best look forward to following your journey.
Oh my!! Paddy, please be careful❤❤❤ I love this, planning to do it too. Perhaps, with E bikes as the body might not be as fit, haha. Good luck Paddy!!❤❤
Good start to the series Paddy. Was loving this video till " I have tickets to see Taylor Swift" Never took you as a Swifty. Just pulling your leg mate. Have a safe ride.
Tune in everyday this week as we attempt to cycle across Thailand 🇹🇭
SUBSCRIBE now and never miss an installment of the adventure! 🚲
For weight loss on a long bike trip, I'd recommend going on a KETO diet as well. No Carbs and No Sugar. :)
Fantastic idea Paddy, loving it!
🇹🇭🚴♂️🧳🍛🥳
Can't wait to see this adventure. This is something I have been thinking of doing, but NEVER without a pedal assist.
Cycled from Pattaya to Laos in 9 days alone too, this brought back some nice memories, thanks for that.
Im no expert, but i think you should adjust up your seat on your bike, have a good trip man!
Yes, that will be more efficient and prevent knee injury.
Yes ur too low in the saddle be much easier for u 👍😎🇹🇭
You should try further down to Singapore, last country at the end of peninsula.
I hope those blessed children are doing well in life. It was an amazing story of courage and inspiration while the whole world was watching.
It 's unfortunately 1 of them was pass away in school in England in last year.
Brave boys! Proof I can do it, won’t say no anymore. Blessings to you!

Feels like our good ol Paddy is back. Great challenge in deed. See so much more of this country that we love when we slow down.
G'won Paddy!!
Best of luck matey. Stay safe please.
Enjoy the adventure...

Paddy. Your bike seat looks like it’s set a bit low. You’ll get more power if your legs open a bit more - but not quite straight. Give it a try.
Get a bright green reflection vest and some blinking lights . Seriously!
NIIICE! This is a fabulous intro to this series. Good to see the cave and how that's been fixed up in the past few years. You look like a champ (for now) hahaha
haha cheers Beverly
Hey hey 😊 cannot wait for this series 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Enjoy 😅
I love when you go off on a lark! This is a next level adventure!!!
Great too see you back in Thailand riding around again even though you will be doing it a bit tough I think your up for it Paddy
Geordies on tour! Hope you’ve got some shelter for the next 24 hours as we are in Chiang Mai, about to head to pai tomorrow and it’s currently thunder and lightening! Good luck! Love all your videos!
stop at 7/11 for the cloth ice packs(carry in baggies , wet cloth is best way to cool off while outside
Once I watched you and Dreamy, look forward to watch your news adventures. Have a safe trip make yourself visible, many crazy driver in the road.
This series is so exciting. But it would be nice to see more of what you see. (More of the road, the cave, and the 360-degree view)
Good luck with your bike trip. I've been cycling more than 16,500 km in Thailand without any accident so I know it's double.
Good stuff!! Cycling across Thailand is definitely an interesting challenge!
Cheers!

Looks like you should raise the saddle a bit...When you are touring with heavy luggage it is preferable with light gears and a bit higher cadance❤❤❤
Another inch higher would be more efficient.
You need a couple of mirrors coming off the end of your bars so you can see cars sneaking up behind you.
You are going to be handsome and fit. And we the audience will see magical Thailand. Sounds like a lot of fun❤
Big respect to you Paddy 🙏
