Do you know what it would cool to know at the end of this serie? Your weight before and after this journey. As you mention that you're not used to cycle and aren't in shape, that would be something to know.
I can appreciate how much more you notice when you bicycle vs motorized travel. I used to wonder why ppl came to the Gulf Islands here in FL & lugged their bikes with them. But after bicycling the area I've lived in for over 40 years & driven thru thousands of times, I noticed so many 'new' things. I'm both excited and sad to see the next video. I was looking forward to a different perspective of travel across Thailand. But it seems things were cut short. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Asian open billed cranes. I really enjoy watching them in the mornings while the find warm updrafts just soaring in circles to gain elevation.

My travel tip for the hard beds is to travel with an inflatable camping pad and sliding that under the sheet. It works out great for me.

Paddy your seating position isn’t as it should be. Maybe you could lessen knee problems by Straiten up your legs.
Adjust the saddle height using the heel method
The easiest way to adjust the saddle height correctly is the heel method. The advantage: no tools are required and it can be done during a tour.
Sit on the bike
Turn a pedal with your foot to the lowest point
Place your heel on the lower pedal
The knee is loosely extended: ideal seat height
The knee is bent: saddle too low
The pedal cannot be reached with the heel or can only be reached with difficulty: saddle too high

Well, there are still some hills after Uttaradit (assuming you go along the main highway) in the direction of Bangkok and Chumphon, though not much.
Halfway between Uttaradit and Phitsanulok, there's a hill with a steep incline and descent but it's relatively short, only 2km or so in total. Then it's a gradual descent towards a district about 60km north of Phitsanulok. Then it's completely flat all the way to Nakorn Sawan. Just after Nakorn Sawan there's like 2 small hills, one around 25km south, then a second smaller one about 50km south. Starting 190km north of Bangkok, it's completely flat all the way to Bangkok, though an altimeter will have a reading of 12-15m elevation around there and only 1-4m in Bangkok.
The next hills (assuming you stay on the main highway) are a small ascent west of Hua Hin, along the bypass. Then there's a hill just north of Prachuab. Starting south of Prachuab you start to get rolling hills all the way down past Chumphon, then it's flat for a while. Next significant hill is in the Thung Song area, then completely flat for quite a while. Rolling hills (similar to the Udon Thani-Khon Kaen stretch of highway) from there to Hat Yai. I've never been east of Hat Yai, but I am familiar with the roads south, both from the Sadao and Padang Besar crossings and the one in the national park about 99km to the south/south-east called Ban Prakob.

Awesome journey across Thailand, I saw you caught a train which is encouraging me to do something similar but to avoid a lot of the intercity main road travel. Heat stroke is dangerous and the dizziness experienced has to be treated properly. Frequently drinking and staying out if the heat . Any chance you continue your tour from bkk to the more pleasant scenic areas near the sea? The flat farm land area may not be a great visitor experience . Perhaps there is opportunity for enthusiasts to travel as a group . Cycling clubs often have tours . As a senior it would be good to do it again .
U can do it man ! I am bikepacker too I know what learn and experience every time u learning new things , u should get single air mattress it would help u sleep better .

Have you ever read the book about taking a long tail boat across Thailand ?The writer took two disabled Thai men in his crew and they portaged the boat between the watersheds.Aside from being an amazing feat he highlighted how good the crew were and the casual cruelty of their countrymen re disability.

Found you through "Trudy". My wife and I, retired and in our late 60's, just returned from Batam-Singapore-KL-JB, where Trudy was (Our 7th backpack adventure overseas in the last 2 years). Sadly, we are too old to attempt what you are doing, but appreciate the visuals as it's very familiar to oir last trip. Maybe in the next life, we won't waste years behind a corporate desk. I've never gotten the impression Thais are early risers. Other than in Bangkok, due to the traffic and at some markets, it's dead at 6am. Most Thais are still asleep then. It's not Vietnam, where everyone rises at 430am and the streets come alive at 5. I've been on the streets in Lampang at 6 and it doesn't get really busy until 7am, and that's only on school days.
Before checking into a hotel or resort in thailand. I always check the bed. I always first ask is the bed soft. And yes thaisxare used to sleeping and sitting on the hard floor. So a hard mattress is no problem to them. It is to me. I at leadt suffer as you just did, generally worse.

I like the camera but don't understand. It looks like from a selfie stick where I don't see a stick.
The camera is the Insta360 X3. And this camera has the ability to make the selfie stick invisible.
I has two lenses, and each lens covers a bit more than 180 degrees of view. Therefore, it is taking two videos at the same time, and they overlap right where the selfie stick is. They call that the "stitch line". It's the line where the two videos are stitched together. And they stitch it together in a way that hides or removes the selfie stick, and it disappears. It's a neat trick.
Basically, these 360 cameras can remove the selfie stick using an editing/software trick.

Greetings from david, Malaysia. i could not help but like to follow-up about your Seat Height Correction. A few others had commented and requested you to get your seat height,on an urgent note.
try to sleep on your back one night without a pillow! put the pillow under the back of your knees. you will get used to this, trust me.
Ladies, there is nothing wrong with Paddy's seat height, its just the telescopic camera view makes him look clownish, that along with the pink hat and dreaming about Taylor Swift. My guess the series ends with a flat and he forgot to bring spares :-)
cracks me up how you go for your morning coffee with no sugar and then spend the day drinking what you think are healthy energy drinks but in reality are extremely sugary and full of crap. If you lose any weight, i will be amazed.
