Unexpected Fallout: New Vegas
How could they even invade the USA as they had virtually no navy? You needed a massive network of transport and warships to send massive armies across the Atlantic, neither of which Germany had. Just look at the USA and how many ships and convoys crossed the Atlantic. The best scenario that the Japanese and the Germans hoped for with the USA was that America would simply lose interest in the war and pull out; however, they were about 20 years too early for that, as that was the strategy of the NVA and China during the conflict in Vietnam. They knew invading or attacking America was out of the question, but they relied on the USA's lack of will to keep fighting to ultimately conquer all of Vietnam.
@@janefelix3821Man in the High Castle requires a lot of suspension of disbelief. If you wish for a more realistic take on a German victory, you can search up works such as the Movie (and book) Fatherland.
@@braziliankaiser8304 Yes, that was 100x more realistic as the USA remained intact and free of German rule even with Germany winning the war as the USA did nuke Japan. However, the biggest fault in that version is that Germany and the USSR were still at war in 1964. So how much longer after the USA bombed Japan did either the USSR or Germany get nukes themselves and started using them? Plus Germany was celebrating Hitler's 75th birthday (1964). Most historians feel that Hitler would not have lived until 1948 as he was deathly ill by 1945. But it is still a good story.
At first I thought i'm cool with fascist taking over Europe, but them taking over America in an alternate universe and being deprived its freedom and having the statue of liberty ideologically raped with Mein Kampft? Bruh. Too dark. xD
I think The Man In the High Castle would have been more interesting if they dropped this silly supernatural plot and instead focused on showing the realities of a world where the Axis won. To me these moments were the greatest and truly unique.
There is so much alternate history story they could have done. But all did for this show is push bullshit political correctness and mostly revenge stories.

Or better, into the fuhrers office which had an AMAZING view in this show.
Having studied and lived on the UBC campus when they were filming there, it was definitely… striking to be wandering down Main Mall and pow suddenly there’s a fuckton of Swastikas and Imperial Japanese flags everywhere
After the obvious concern about just randomly leaving that stuff up between shooting days, they started taping over most of the logos and set out signs explaining that it was a film set

Could they make his name any more American than John Smith? Is it even possible? I bet in Germany they have someone called Hans Müller
No it's Johann Schmidt
That's the point. He was the average American and is now the average German. And John Smith's still exist. Now actual arguments, please.
@@balabanasireti If by average american you mean someone who would deliberately spit on his own freedom and let his brother to die just to arise to power... Hmm, this is not what I call an average american.
I mean in this case it would have made a lot more sense to give this name to an american protagonist, living in constant fear but fighting for his freedom as best as he can, occasionnnaly doing bad but only for a greater good. That way the average american viewer could identify himself with this caracter.
Or at least, IF you gave that kind of name to an antagonist to portray the average american as a coward who would prefer to abandon his freedom in exchange for his life, at least don't make him genuinely evil, make it so that the character had no choice in order to survive. Problem with the John Smith from the series, he is powerhungry, and would betray even his own family for personal gain, this is genuine evil.
I mean really, this series succeeded into making me feel more empathy for the character of Himmler than what is supposed to portray the average American in your point of view, even though Himmler was a horrible man in history.
Texan PlayeR John smith actually cared about his family above everything else. He let his “brother” die because if he didn’t he would’ve been exposed and his family would die.

You'll know in episode 10. But I thought it's gonna happen here
More like under new management
SPOILER
I was really hoping that was what would happen. That Smith would declare independence and use the Nuclear arsenal of the US Reich as a shield to prevent retaliation from Germany whilst also uniting the East with the West.
In an earlier scene Smith said that by joining the Nazis they were doing it to bide their time but it turns out he just wanted an autonomous Nazi America which makes Smith's motives confusing.
Especially as he admitted what he was doing was wrong. But I guess he was so ingraciated in the system and knew that he would need to answer for his crimes if he redeclared the United States as a democratic nation.

Hitler was an asshole, but having to watch a drooling, sweaty, shaky Hitler would have been 1,000 times worse if not for Bruno Ganz' superb acting. Even his inflections to being kind towards the secretary killed it. I hate the memes but now he'll be remembered by generations.

Lol you act as if he's barely making bread.. judging by his imDb he's pretty loaded with work. His performance was great in the show, but there were MANY 'great' performances in multiple shows across televisions, do you expect the golden globes or emmy's to give out awards like candy?
You know, it's somewhat weird, that Himmler, being the leader of a country which subjugated 2/3 of the world, speaks to his subordinate in the subordinate's language, not in German...
Himmled was extremely fluently in Oxford English. In the scenes in which he was directly speaking to germans, he spoke German. Other than that he spoke the language his subordinate could all understand

Suyash what even was that ending? Really felt that the series had a stronger life if the traveling betwixt worlds was excluded. While it would drastically differ from the idea of the man in the high castle, really would’ve like to see the story of this world play out more.
ya, the ending just felt like a let down. Also some stuff i don't remember at all like the BCR. Did they just show up this season with no previous mentions, or did i forget them? This bit of the season I liked, the set up for this scene and what happened i liked. But so much felt like they were in a rush and had to get things down right this instant.
It needed another episode to tie things off. They left it to open ended.
@@colinmcnamara7999 I think they didn't get enough budget. I can be wrong.
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING
It wasn't the worst ending ever but too short and easy for a series finale in my opinion. Also many important things happened off-screen. How did they take over the portal so fast? It was one of the most important places for the Nazi regime, they would probably guard this place with hundreds of soldiers and armored vehicles. Why did the General just give up after Smith died? These people worked almost 20 years for the Nazis, someone else would just take his place. What about the Nazi regime in Europe? In this scenario they had won WW2 quite some time ago, at this point the regime would probably have more military power in Europe alone than most real-life superpowers nowadays. It felt very rushed, they had to tell an ending in 10 episodes that probably needed more like 20 or 30 episodes. They could've showed how the resistance slowly wins over many years, plans, fights and setbacks, the victory was simply too easy and fast. Considering they only had this last season though, I would say it's ok.
Look at that, no cellphones, just people living in the moment.
Yes they seem to be taking it all in.

That final scene with the portal was a big "wtf?????" for me.
Season 4 was so gooooood until the last 2 episodes.
It felt like they tried to condense so much into a couple episodes so it feels rushed and not very fleshed out. Like who were those people coming out of the portal? Why would Smith's successor just reject Nazism after serving its interests for 20 years? What was the purpose of attacking the portal in the first place? What is its significance in the grand scheme of things? It wouldn't bring them any closer to defeating the Nazis if they hadn't killed John Smith.
Also the fact that the Japanese just left the Pacific states arbitrarily. Like if they depended on their Pacific states for the oil to fight in China then they certainly would not surrender that territory for strategic reasons. They would not allow the Nazis to control one of their most vital oil pipelines that is the reason they went to war with the US in the first place lmao. Also the Japanese were struggling in a war against China? And the Chinese were somehow supplying the BCR in the Pacific States? The Japanese owned the seas how could ships carrying weapons make it from China to the Pacific states lol.
Also the Black Communist Rebellion? Really? The Japanese wouldn't let any black person anywhere near high ranking officials as they already know the demographic of their enemy and it would be extremely easy for them to identify them. It's not like the Japanese would be concerned about racial profiling.
