  • Today I will show you how to troubleshoot and fix a desktop computer which is turning on with led light on and fan spinning, but no display on the monitor, it could be a power supply unit pc issue.
In this youtube video tutorial, I show you how to troubleshoot and fix a very common issue caused by a common problem. This computer turns on but no display on monitor screen. At first you might think there is a problem with the graphics card, or monitor, or cables or even motherboard. In today's case it is a power supply unit issue, although deceivingly it looks like it should be working since there are signs of life.
This video is only one possible way of troubleshooting and fixing a computer. I have created a dedicated series to help troubleshoot all 10 main components of a computer in a logical structure, click the link. For those wondering if I fixed it didn’t. I tried everything and didn’t get it to work so I blamed it on the motherboard. But I looked back on the problem long after I got rid of the motherboard. I looked at a forum and someone had the same problem as me. He found out it was the cpu. I still don’t know exactly if that was the problem but it seemed to be because I checked everything but the cpu. I now built my own pc. That other one was a hp prebuilt

    Thank you for your video!
About 11 months ago I built my first pc, used my old 600w power supply, old 240GB SSD, old case and old liquid CPU cooler, I bought brand new a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard, Ryzen 3600X CPU, 2X 8GB T-Force 3200mhz DDR4 RAM and a Gigabyte geforce gtx 1660 TI 6GB. Been running faultless till today which when I switched it on it had no post, had the red LED lit up on the motherboard, first the DRAM lights up for a few seconds then switches to the CPU LED and back to the DRAM LED and stays there. Only tried swapping the RAM sticks around and tried running it with only one RAM stick and same outcome. Last time I used the PC the night before it was running perfectly and all I used it for was to watch a few youtube videos for about 20 mins and then shut it down. No CPU or graphics card overclocking, just the XMP profile for the RAM to get the 3200mhz. Which has been set and running that way for over 10 months. I'm guessing by your video it's the power supply unit... Hopefully!!! I always check the running temperature's often but also could be the RAM. What you think?

Yea, psu's have connectors like *molex (for extra fan, rgb etc) *sata (for hard drives, you will have more then 1 of those) *6 pin (used for graphics card that need more power then what the mother board can provide)

Step 2: if the PC case ain’t fitting the graphic card right, like you have to push hard at the PC case’s back panel in to make the screw hole align with the graphic card, or there are gaps you need to insert cards to fill them, the graphic card is installed into place, but after a few weeks later there’s no more display. The solution is to replace the PC case or find another way to install the graphic card without putting to much “strains” on it, so it’s fit into place and be installed more freely.

I upgraded my cpu and WiFi adapter, and now my monitors won’t have signal, and my mouse and keyboard won’t work even tho the pc is on and has the motherboard lights on, help?
Edit:I fixed it, so basically I upgraded to an and ryzen 5 3600, and that messed it up because my bios was outdated so I just had to update it. Here’s a step by step on how to do it
NOTE:make sure you put your old cpu back in in order to do this, then install the new one after you do these steps
1.) search up your motherboard and search up the latest bios update for it
2.) download that file and put it in a thumb drive
3.) hold shift while pressing restart on your pc
    4.) click on startup settings
5.) press restart and IMMEDIATELY spam f2 until your computer restarts and starts up the bios network
6.) click tools and then click the top option
7.) insert your thumb drive and click on it when it appears then click read
8.)it should read and then you’re good to go

Make sure that your output cable is plugged into the right socket in the back of the computer. Some sockets are input the computer is receiving information like a keyboard. Some sockets are output only, the computer is projecting information out, it has to be in the output only socket. When I plugged the cable into the right socket, it all worked!

I just opened it up and checked all the components and cleaned them including the ram sticks, ram ports, ssd, hdd, fans, pcu and its always had an issue booting and takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours to boot into windows. Now i am getting an issue where the PC turns on but the monitor or USB devices dont turn on with it giving me a black screen with no signal and no indication of being alive other than the pc lights and fans going. I have been doing everything i can think of for the last 2 hours trying to get it to work. Im not a youtuber or tech enthusiast with a fat wallet so i cant use these fancy tools to check the components.

Hey guys I just wanna share my experience and hope it helps someone out there. So I’m new to building PCs and built my first one. Everything seemed to be working fine. The fans were spinning, the lights were glowing, etc. I plug in the hdmi cord to my monitor and nothing happened. It said “no signal” after doing a lot of research I thought my motherboard was broken BUT that wasn’t the case. Okay let me get to the point. What I did was turn everything off, unplugged the outlet cord and held the power button for 20 seconds then I unplugged and plugged back in the cords from the motherboard (the ones from the power supply such as the power cord, the cpu cord, basically the cords that come with the power supply but I disconnected them from the motherboard and connected them back) I also took the battery off the motherboard for 15 seconds (the little coin looking thing on your motherboard) and then put it back. NOTE: I did this all at once so idk which one was the problem so I recommend doing all of these in one go. I didn’t do this one but it could help you, I read that disconnecting the ram and putting it back also helped or it could also be that you put the ram on the wrong slots (for me it was slots A2 and B2 which were recommended on the motherboard manuals that you should read. Also the slots are labeled in most of the motherboards) another thing was connecting the PCle cable onto the graphics card itself and not on the motherboard. Anyways hope this helped some of you guys.

Thanks I will try this in the morning, I have had the same issues but I have tried different types of cables and like tried stuff with the RAM and other stuff but I sure will try this out because I have spent some days trying stuff. One weird thing that's helped me a few times is having a second cable to plug in...I just got finished swapping a power supply out and everything was working fine with one cable prior, I was only upgrading.. After I put the new PSU in, I turned the PC on and the display worked for a split second but then went black, I tried everything in the videos..but when I swapped the cable it worked just fine...I know the other cable isn't broke too...This has happened to me at least 3 times with this type of motherboard. Maybe this is someone else's problem too, so figured I'd post a comment. Hope I helped.

True PSU faulty is usually undermined because people would think that if psu not working, PC should not be able to turn on. In my case, my pc was able to turn on but monitor will display no signal. Most of my friends told me, it might be GPU or Monitor issues or cable. AFter checking everything, i found out my cable from GPU to PSU (PCIE) had burn mark. I replaced them.
It was working fine after 1-2 weeks the issue came back. Checked cable everything was fine. Decided to change to new PSU then it was working fine with heavy gaming until today. Moral of the story as in the video not every symptom is the same for every problem, should diagnose 1 by 1. Just sharing. 😁😁

Step 1: remove the suspected graphic card from the PC and install a lower profile graphic card into the PC, or try another graphic card by smaller physical size. If the lower profile graphic card works, then install the suspected graphic card back into the PC and see if it gives display or not. You might think it must be the suspected graphic card that’s faulty if another graphic card works in the PC, but that’s not always be the case, in rare some cases it takes another graphic card installed and be able to display, then install the suspected graphic card back in, then if the method works, all the pc startup works fine with the suspected graphic card unless it has been removed from the PC, if you did removed the graphic card and installed it back in again and again there’s no display, then you need to repeat the quoted steps - to try another graphic card in the pc before putting the suspected graphic card back in.

My pc was working fine this morning but I decided to clean out the dust as per my routine, I took it apart and put everything back as I found it after cleaning but when I powered it on, my monitor said "No signal - check video cable". I then opened up the case again and everything was plugged in correctly but the monitor still gives that message and goes black afterwards. Can you help?

My PC doesn't show display with you but works without gpu. when I turn it on with gpu the monitor keeps saying no signal.when I try to open bios it shuts down and then turns on again but doesn't show the display. But it works completely fine without gpu. I know it sounds like it is a dead gpu but no. Some times I managed to turn on PC with gpu after attempting like 4 hours out of dump luck and gpu works fine but when I shut it down or restart it goes back to no showing display sign.
    I tried every thing.
    1. Cleaned and reseated the ram.
    2. Reset bios.
    3. Cleaned motherboard.
    4. Changed 3v battery.
    5. Unplugged all peripherals and HDD just to give maximum power to motherboard and gpu.
    6. Motherboard is also fine because it has worked some times with gpu as I mentioned.
    7. Checked all HDMI cables.
    8. Both monitors works fine.
It is kinda like a glitch of motherboard.
It works completely fine but doesn't show display with gpu installed. And all components are completely fine.
I used this PC for 2 years and had no problem with it and 2 days ago it doesn't work. How??? What happened??...
I don't have money to buy another PC or graphics card.
    My spec's:
    CPU i5 3570
    Gpu GT 1030 2gb ddr4
    Ram 8gb
    3 HDD
    PSU 320watt
    Motherboard HP prebuilt
    PC HP 6300 pro tower.
    Sorry for my bad English.

Hey all, I've got a similar issue with my PC, it turns on, fans move, mouse lights up, and everything appears to work. However nothing displays on the monitor and the computer doesn't beep when it turns on. I've taken out the graphics card and used the integrated graphics, same problem. Replaced the hard drive, used only one stick of RAM etc. NOTHING worked. The computer has been sitting for a year and a half or so, however I'm not sure if that really should effect too much. On a side note it won't turn off until I use the power switch on the back. The front one won't work at all. Should I replace the PSU?

I know lot of tech expert around the globe but this guy is the first one who is broadcasting his religion ahead of his talent over all other religions this is not accepted relegion or faith is a personal thing and it should be remain inside house like every tech guy does but by doing this ie showing your beard with cap promiting talibani jihadi style and shows your subordination to other religions specially Christian

I had an old Intel Pentium 4 Compaq desktop with windows xp....
    Troubleshoot:
My monitor shows no signal when I connect to the socket... As I connect it to my PC with a VGA cable and press the power button then it goes blank(fan spinning and cabinate's light blinking)
Will this work with my problem
