One issue I find with most of the 2 strokes I tune is the float level too high. Once I reset the float it makes quite a difference. I recommend making sure the float is set correctly before changing jetting.
Really? I am a bit of a bike rebuilder and flipper I guess. I’m 13 bikes in and have 3 in my inventory as well as a 2 stroke quad and I haven’t ran into too many float issues other than on a 95 Suzuki rm the float had micro punctures so I plastic welded it all shut and adjusted the float accordingly, other than that though most bikes I run into are dirty carbs with ethanol gas or blown engines due to rider and not the bike. All too often Timmy is excited to have a “fast” bike and pins it down some straight before just closing the throttle and all lube to the cylinder. I love little Timmy he makes me lots of money
Didn't really detail anything about actually tuning the carb. Didn't offer any tweaks. Sure you showed the jets/ needle, which may be helpful to someone whom never opened a carb.
Tough to put out a short concise vid on such a deep and nuanced topic. I was frustrated you mentioned the slide as one of the four ways to tune the carb but then did not mention it further. BUT, I love your content and watch it often. Please keep it up!
Hey again boys, how important is it as I got a few questions but I did buy a random needle as the bike I brought as a project was missing it it’s genuine and for the bike but not sure if it’s correct or anything main thing is I can close the air fuel screw and it still runs good lol and I’m super rich mid throttle 🤷♂️
I also noticed after riding and revving she sits high but near idle after dropping the throttle all the way shut then she drops further down ( like lower rpm’s)
Ok l have a 2019 sherco 125 l ride hard enduro l have changed a few ergos , gear and jetting. l currently run 40 pilot 165 main my slide is stock 5.5 l have a N1EH on 3rd clip riding from 200mtr to 500 metres average elevation l will try 2nd clip and may even change needle to NECH witch seems to work well with 250/300 all running 36 mm carbs it does run a lot better but still room for improvement jetting and gearing changes have made the map switch far more effective
My pet complaint is how seldom a two stroke comes with the right throttle slide. My two YZs have and 8 and a 9 (stock is 7). My '17 KTM came with a 4 and now has a 5.75 from a CR125.
I have a 5hp outboard 2 stroke boat engine.. and i change the main jet from 0.82 to 0.99 dimension and i want to change the needle jet atomisor with one with more holes to mixt beter extra fuel .. do you tink i will get little more power from it? I also bore the intake wall inside.. from 17mm to 19 mm now.
Hello, your video is good. I have a question. I have a beta xtrainer 300 2023. I recently put a jetting main 162 pilot 38 needle position number 4 That would help me to have a good response from the bike in the mid and low ranges.
SHERCO's jet chart is only for reference and does not provide optimal Settings. It is still necessary to rely on the status of the spark plug and throttle feedback to adjust.
I bought a used bike, idiot previous owner... i had almost the same situation, ktm sx 200 2004, smaller main jet #148 instead of the factory #192 size. The needle clip was in the pos 5, instead of 3. This results lower-mid rpms get normal or too rich (because needle clip pos 5), high rpm (not enough fuel) dies and weak.
i have a 2000 rm 125 and i cant figure the jetting out. it barely idles and it kinda smokes alot out the exhaust and i see alot of unburnt oil coming out too. my carb is clean i just cant figure out what sizes to use if anyone knows what to do pls reply

I'm stressing so much lately. My bike is running exactly like 1. symptom of being rich, it really struggles to get into the powerband, except I thought it was too rich and I got a larger pilot and main.. now the idle hangs and it still bogs like it's too rich.

@@MichaelSpencer-m3l Yea bro turns out my float wasnt set right since it would starve of fuel, and the jets were too small I switched to a bigger ktm SX carb, 180 main jet and 45 pilot and the bike rips like never before. the original carb was a nightmare. probably good for someone who idles around in first and 3rd gear all day.
Thank yall for actually listing the symptoms clearly, I've been searching for hours trying to find a list as clear as that.

The slide isn’t usually adjustable, changing the clip position on the needle, which sits in the slide, does change your fuel mix tho
what if its runs rich but take a long time to come down to normal idle after a throttle burst?
throttle burst, meaning holding it wide open while riding and coming to a stop?
Should go more into detail on needle taper an position. I think this is a very overlooked detail.

How to fix number pilot & main jet to use in the carburator? maybe jetting start from bla bla bla....😅
Do you guys like the J.D. needles? I own a 2022 Sherco SE 300 it's close but not 100% yet.
That's what they put in my bike.
As i open the throttle it takes a while to get the full performance
Did you guys follow the Sherco jetting chart or did you go leaner?
SHERCO's jet chart is only for reference and does not provide optimal Settings. It is still necessary to rely on the status of the spark plug and throttle feedback to adjust.
Such a helpful vid. Thanks!
How much will it cost to have someone rejet mines i have vforce3, fmf fatty pipe and vhm mx head
What if it runs good mid throttle then when you get high rpm it gets really weak and dies out doesn’t really get to the power band

So if my bike is pinging when I let off of wot It would help to go up with my needle position correct?

HI!
Google...

Pilot Jet 48
Needle STOCK
Clip Position 3RD
Air Screw 1.25 out
Said you were gonna show how to access the carb and then literally didn't shot how to access it at all. 😔

you want to go smaller so there’s less fuel
