Seeing Bellamy cry after fighting luffy made me feel things. And it's great that luffy wasn't even mad when he fought him for the first time, because it wasn't worth it, but in the second time, he was mad. Not at him, but for him.

I think that one of the reasons why Luffy did not engage Bellamy is because of the fact that Bellamy did not believe in dreams. If you see the scene again, Luffy was ready to fight, but the moment they started laughing at Nami when she asked about Sky Island, Luffy asked Zoro to not fight. I feel it was almost out of pity for people that have no dreams. As they already lost. At least that's what I thought when I first saw the scene.
To be fair usually Luffy crushes his enemies dreams as punishment over taking their lives (tho that sometimes happens as well).
Unfortunately not everyone has luffy plot armour so makes sense they give up on their dreams.
It does make sense cuz luffy's believes living without a dream is worse than death! And since bellamy didn't believed in dream, There was nothing worse he could do! Man oda is genius!

It's just something about the way a protagonist can turn an enemy into an ally. It has a whimsical feel to it.
Just GOAT things honestly. Look at the list of enemies turned borderline allies. Katakuri is my favorite example. It took ten hours for mans to have complete respect for Luffy. Even Kaido, diametrically opposed to him on a moral level but you could see the respect growing with every punch.

Yeah, that concept of storytelling is awesome. That’s why I wish they would have done more with mah girl Perona. Not only adorable, but also mysterious. I know I’m playing this up a bit, but it would have been cool to a have a backstory for her. Literally a princess like Vivi or the other ones. Anytime protags can get turn an enemy into sort of a friend maybe, it’s usually great.
Off topic but am I the only one who thinks EVERY single chapter after wanos end has been top tier in terms of action, theory crafting and world building? That one month break oda took really was crucial

Wano was awesome. Not perfect at all. But the longest arc in OP. Wano was longer than many entire anime. And now we are getting answers we've always wanted in action packed/funny chapters, placed in a future world. So it's hard to argue its not amazing lol. And expectations also play a part. I bet many of us didn't expect a ton of content on egghead. Grab the doc and off to elbaf. But oda seems to be preparing a marineford level event, potentially at least. So it's more than a lot of people were expecting from egghead is my point. And I agree, it's fire.

Can I just say that the editing moment at 10:05 is a really nice touch to this video. Where we as the audience would expect Luffy to be the angel and Doffy to be the devil, having it be the reverse because it’s Bellamy’s point of view is great.
also something i love about bellamy as a foil: his powers are the exact opposite of luffy's. luffy being made off rubber means his physical strength come from his limbs contracting while bellamy gets his physical strength comes from expanding his spring limbs. it's such an elegant way of bringing in their, at the time, complete opposite world views into their very fighting styles. it's so good.
Always loved Bellamy since I started getting into the series, he's just a really interesting character who stands out a lot in his own ways. Would totally love to see him again and allow him to reunite with the Strawhats

I notice quite a few yellow hair characters came from rich families but end up in adventurous lives, Bellamy, Doflamingo, Sanji, Sabo.
But then again, many other characters do
Bellamy might not have joined the grand fleet when it was created but he was part of the cover stories about what the Straw Hat grand fleet was up to. In it we see him creating a new Jolly Roger so I fully expect him to join eventually because Eichiro Oda literally implied it by having him as part of that group of cover stories
I'd like to know Kaku's backstory. It seems when he's in front of Lucci and others he's an obedient government killer, but when alone with Zoro he regrets his actions on Water 7 and doesn't seem to want to be an assassin; even Zoro felt bad defeating him as Kaku honored his word and gave him the actual key to Robin's Sea Prism Stone Handcuffs ... he's also never shown in flashbacks on the Cipher Pol Island (or Kalifa). I feel he wants to be a good government ally, like Smoker, but keeps up an appearance as obedient killer when near other stronger, and more violent, killers like Lucci.
Lucci just like Who’s Who and Eustass Kid would get oneshotted by Shanks no difficulty at all, so clearly Lucci picked the wrong position of power to work for, and he should’ve either permanently retired and worked in a zoo until he could develop Conquers Haki far far more powerful than Shanks, or he should’ve worked with the Pirates, Revolutionaries, or Bounty Hunters themselves, but him and Lucci picked the wrong people to work with because the Marines nowadays aren’t the best people to work with, and I feel no sympathy for the Marines both in real life and in the world of One Piece.

@@evilovesperry , Luffy has only two Emperors to defeat before he can bring down Imu Sama once and for all, and he’s more of a Yonko Level threat to the general world of One Piece than Kaku and Lucci are, and if anything they’re more like low to medium range Warlord Level threats, or them being on the same scale of the Titanic Captains of Black Beard’s Crew, but both Kaku and Lucci got oneshotted by Luffy and Zoro no difficulty at all, so clearly they’re no fit to serve and protect the work of the New World just like Smoker, and they should’ve been only protecting and serving the Four Blues and the Paradise Islands that aren’t near Enies Lobby and MarineFord as well any area not owned by the Revolutionaries because Smoker, Tashigi, Kaku, and Lucci aren’t fit for the New World like the rest of the New Generation Pirates are.

The journey he went through in Dressrosa was phenomanol and i really hope we see more of him. He went on a Journey and to me it feels like Bellamy was more set free by Doflamingos defeat than Rebecca.
I just realized that Law and Bellamy show the different paths they took regarding being Doflamingos underling.
One realized what a tyrant he was and that he didnt care for anyone, while the other had the illusion of someone he could look at as a mentor and king that followed him until the end and ended up betrayed.
Bellamy is still relevant to the story !!!!!

I remember seeing Bellamy getting punched for the second time. I was half closing my eyes and even wanted to cover my face with my hands. Contrast that to quite a different reaction to punch number 1 and you’ll see why Oda is such a great writer
Bellamy has one of the most fascinating arcs in all of One Piece. I hope we get to see his flags waving on the Grand Fleet later in the story!

Luffy screaming Doflamingo after beating Bellamy was one of the most satisfying things that happend in Dressorsa anime.
I really hope if we have another big government war arc thatDoffy gets released to work for the world government and Belamy comes to help the strawhats, we get a Belamy vs Doffy fight. Think it would be a nice arc to the character being able to beat the person who he use to idolize

When I first got introduced to Bellamy in One Piece, I was expecting him to be what Katakuri kind of was, The evil Luffy equivalent. At the time, the spring power was basically the same as Luffy's rubber power, so I thought there would be a fight between them where it would be a repeating stalemate because they would keep using very similar techniques against each other, basically cancelling them out. The fight would end with Luffy eventually overpowering Bellamy in a 2-fists-colliding scenario because Luffy had the extra drive to prove dreams were real.
I was a little disappointed when it didn't happen, but the very satisfying face punch (which was later overshadowed by the satisfaction of the Saint Charlos face punch) andf this video made up for it
It'd be wild to see our reformed Bellamy return later with his own fleet in service of The Straw Hats, or more specifically Luffy.

I think a “what makes a character ….” Where you go into what makes a specific character stand out would make a great series. “What makes a character a great foil” for katakurri for instance.

was it just me who was worried while watching the scene where bellamy says "one piece is just a myth" like i thought it was gonna be "the friends we made along the way. which made the black beard speech much more emotional and touching for me.

first Helmeppo, then Mr. 2, and now Bellamy. oda may be foreshadowing a villain who the straw hats defeated and then sought redemption for their ways and joined Luffy's crew. before you say Robin, Robin was more like a slave under Crocodile because the world government was out to get her then a villain

Are you me? I've literally been in a weeks long binge of Bellamy content, talking to everyone who will listen what an incredible character Bellamy is and how he's one of the people in One Piece who deserves a happy ending more than anyone else.
I honestly don't WANT him to get involved in any more pirate shenanigans because I don't want him to get defeated or possibly die. I want him to have a nice, satisfying life with a career he chose for himself, finally.

Bellamy went from a character you loved to hate, to a character you felt sorry for, and ultimately want to redeem himself. Even after being beaten by Luffy, and proven wrong about the world, he still lived in Doflamingo's shadow post- timeskip, mostly out of pride. But Luffy had planted the seed of hope in him. After Doflamingo's defeat, Bellamy finally became his own boss.
Bellamy is my favorite character in the series!
I hope we see him again someday!
The last time we see him is he is making the flag of the straw hat grand fleet, now this is important in the future because we all know he will join the grand fleet, very obvious because he is one of the guys who take Luffy's vivre card.

Post timeskip it just hit me the way he got so annoyed by the fact that the Luffy he was sent to capture was fake, he has my respect because he got so annoyed in our behalf, imagine not even chopper recognized him but Sentomarou did inmediatly after seeing him and was so dissapointed, it was great, I like him.

The part in Dressrosa where Bellamy is ordered to kill Luffy and when he was being controlled was so poignant and emotionally tense to me, it was frustrating it was so good. It was great development for Luffy and Bellamy imo.
