One thing I love about the anime adaptation of Gear 5 is that Luffy’s heartbeat is actually a Brazilian samba batacuda rhythm. It’s a super common rhythm in the parades during the carnival of Rio de Janeiro. With carnivals being about the freedom to indulge in food, drink, mockery, and merriment, it’s quite special that Luffy’s heart beats with the song of its parades. Luffy’s heartbeat in Gear 5 is the opening act for a carnival of the new dawn.

Simply incredible. You manage to articulate what makes this story as great as it is so eligantly. Truly a joy to see you post another One Piece video. And THANK YOU for not reaching into the manga to pull out more content at the expense of us anime-onlys! Keep up the great work!!
I don't care about comparisons because frankly speaking I grew up with DBZ and its place in my heart can never be disturbed just because grown up me can see the flaws in the story. That said One Piece builds upon that and far exceeds it in every way possible. When I read 1044 for the first time, it dawned on me how much joy Luffy has given to me over the years just by being himself. In my worst of days I've just rewatched old clips on TH-cam to uplift myself. Who could joyboy even be other than him? It would've been a travesty if the title belonged to anyone other than Luffy. This power is so ridiculous, so silly and goofy that it would be out of place for pretty much any other character in the shonen media. Luffy is the only one capable of pulling this off and he's the only one deserving to do so. I can't express how much I smiled watching the episode yesterday. Truly blessed to have been able to follow this beautiful story weekly.
None of this shit is remotely relevant, it's only the way you feel, objectively speaking this transformation is fucking corny, the animation and va saves ot but it's trash

I rly like how well gear 5 compliments luffys character. not only is gear 5 a visual representation of freedom, hope, and liberation, but it also transcends the very laws of nature. luffy is so free that he doesnt abide by the very laws of nature. he now has the power of imagination and can do anything he wants without restriction. I also like the subtle colors that was chosen for luffy. white being symbolic of peace and freedom and his red eyes represent love in this case. Even though I love dragon ball, my biggest problem with the super saiyan is how disposable it has become as a transformation, it has become an irrelevant power and is only used to test the enemy's abilities, Goku no longer uses the iconic transformation that is supposed to be the "peak" of the Saiyan, and I think it has to do with the fact that Dragon Ball has been exploited as a manga (remembering the milked cow meme), to the point that those transformations became irrelevant with the introduction of the "UI" and the most recent one that is "Gohan Beast", which in my opinion is unnecessary and absurd and I say this as a fan, because it seems to be another force multiplier with the only difference that its appearance has changed a bit, at least the UI has a justification but well, I only follow Dragon Ball for nostalgia and for entertainment but for me, Toriyama ran out of fresh ideas a long time ago.
Its amusing people downplay Gear 5 for only being introduced in the Wano arc with the Nika story having no ''proper'' set up before it, when the exact same accusations could be thrown at Super Saiyan as it's prophecy only got introduced in the middle of the Namek saga and it's very obvious Toriyama didn't think about that in Saiyan Saga when Vegeta uses the Great Ozaru form as a ''peak'' form of a Saiyan. I'd say the title is exaggeration but you raise nice points
I wouldnt call it the greatest, but its a DAMN GOOD transformation.
Toriyama perfected making epic moments. The way you feel when Goku arrives on the scene is unmatched. I do love One Piece and Gear 5 though. The great thing about the One piece transformation is how far down the line in the story it is and how much the ability matches what the story is trying to convey with freedom
Luffy's gear V shows us a cartoon, but in the real world. The head actually enters inside itself through the effects of the rubber. This is the power of Nonsense, One Piece is a world where the nonsense makes sense! That is why it is so genious
Easily my 3rd favorite anime transformation so far
great video
