Due to a health scare in 2017, we decided to start enjoying life more outside our business. We bought a Lodge on the east coast of England and started vlogging our daily adventures

My youngest daughter has very recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has spread to her liver & spleen. It’s breaking my heart but I’m so glad that we got to do our dream Disneyworld holiday together in November last year (we stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort) together with her Dad (my hubby of almost 50 years) and her partner so I understand what you mean about being glad you got to share recent trips with her and making such special memories. Even though she’s not even 40 yet we’ve made such happy road trip memories in different American states and I shall always treasure these. Love your vlogs xx
I saw my dad in the chapel of rest and I freaked out as it looked nothing like him and that feeling takes a long time to fade.
Enjoy your trip we did a similar road trip in 2015 and loved it.

Lived my whole life in NY until 18 months ago when we moved to Orlando...hopefully you had a blast and cannot wait to see the fun you get up to with the Bazzas!
Hi Nick & Leigh, firstly so sorry for the loss of your lovely mum. I can so relate to how Nick felt about seeing his mum in the Chapel of rest. When I saw my mum in the Chapel, even though I always said I never would do that, I just wanted to see her face again and say one final goodbye. I stupidly even rubbed her hand to try and warm it up. The things we do when we’re grieving, trying to make sense of what has now gone but I’m so glad I went now. I just needed to see her one more time ❤️
Nick said he would never go see anyone but it changes your mind when it's a loved one and you know its the last time you'll see them.
It's part of healing for some people to want to go where their loved one went . There's nothing wrong with it. My oldest daughter and I want to go back to Florida because that was our last family vacation with my youngest daughter before she passed away.
Hey Nick & Leigh, lovely to hear that you have booked New York & Florida. It is much needed in the healing process. Gail will love to see you visit her special venues. When the time arrives, enjoy every moment.

My dad passed last Feb & my heart is broken into 1000 pieces....& I'm sure you feel the same Nick, taking time out for yourself will slowly put the pieces back & each piece will hold fondness & warmth.

For the last 3 months I had to watch my sister go through what I went through with my late partner. My heart broke for her knowing what was to come for her. Her partner passed away from cancer on the 22nd of March. Today is her 51st birthday. She is totally heartbroken. 💜💜
Totally agree about the chapel of rest. When my mum passed I went to see her because I wanted to see her at rest (she had a terrible passing) but that didn’t happen she still had the look of the trauma. I thought the undertaker would be able to make her look peaceful. When I lost my dad last year I didn’t go the the chapel I wanted to just wanted to remember him with his smile on his face.
This sounds like an amazing trip! New York is busy but you feel like you’ve been there before as so much of it is recognisable from films and TV. I don’t think I could go to the Edge but I did love going up the Empire State Building both at night and in the day. Both different experiences . It’s so lovely that you are following in your Mum’s footsteps in New York. I did go on an Amtrak train many years ago from Florida to Georgia . It was a very relaxed way of travelling- they even had a piano onboard!

Charleston is beautiful. Look for garden tours of the old homes while you are there. They are nice to visit.
Super-fab travel plans! I look forward to your Blue Ridge Parkway vlogs - I live nearby, but 145 miles to the south of Fancy Gap, and have never seen the section you will be traveling. Take it slow and enjoy the scenery and flow of the roadway. 🌲🚗🌞
Look at doing the ride RiseNY it’s like Soaring while you are in New York we loved it ❤ always have your camera ready when in the elevators going up and down the skyscrapers as the ceiling and walls have projections running. We did all the skyscrapers and it was amazing 🤩 the Highline walk is relaxing and takes you to Hudson Yard where we had champagne on The Edge xx I have a video on my channel showing some bits of my trip last year, definitely want to go back ❤️ have fun you guys xxxx
I’m late to this video because I used to watch them with my mum. She died in April after a month long battle with cancer. My dad died last October after a 3 month battle with cancer. They had a flat together in Bridlington and we used to love seeing all the familiar places in your videos. We had all been to Florida many times as well so there are so many parallels. I’ve only just been able to bring myself to start watching again and it’s a strange mix of pain, comfort and laughter. I’ve had so many of those “we used to do that” moments and I’m sure there are more to come as the first anniversaries roll around. If you like podcasts you may find Anderson Cooper’s “All There Is” series helpful. He shares his experience of losing his mother and interviews a variety of guests about their experience of loss.
So sorry to hear of your loses. We think about it and Miss Gail every day. It does get easier but youll never forget. Hope your videos can help put a smile on your face at some point

To feel your mom spirit around you again, it’s a lovely sentiment. It’s not silly at all. New York is like London, just dirtier 😅 I wish you both all the best. Your trip sounds fantastic. Can't wait to see it! The prices are so high in Florida because March thru Easter is American Student's Spring Break. We all try to get to the beach at the end of a long, cold winter.

Been to Savannah to meet family and enjoyed the trolley tours that showed some great spots and told us history about the area
How lovely to visit the same places as your mum . Someone l know said they went to summit One observation deck in NY it looked an was sensational if you get time or it might already be on your list . Can’t wait for your trip x

Boys when you go to the west coast consider Treasure Island (Johns Pass area) or Siesta Key (number 1 beach in USA). We’re back in Siesta Key in May after Orlando. Tropical Resort is our favourite with a free trolley bus into the village all day. Beautiful place.

You and your Mom were so very kind to share her cancer journey.. but also the continuation of grieving and your feelings. You are right that often it is not spoken about. You are helping myself and so many others; comfort in community, sharing and understanding.

This will do you so good I did the same after my mom passed away with the same her last trip she did was a cruise so I did the same cruise and I felt like she was with me felt so close to me ❤❤
Take a beautiful ride north of Boston to Newburyport, Massachusetts. Scenic drive along the coast taking rte 1.
I had seen a few of your florida vlogs but nothing regular, but on your road trip your talking about here, I started watching when you got to Orlando area and Leigh.s mumand dad and aunty arrived from then I was hooked. The sad video popped up on my recommended where you explain about Nicks mum passing so I have watched from that video to this one. You are both such genuine people and I love all your videos whether its at The Lodge, The Appartment or on your travels. Just to say my mother in law passed away 20 years ago now but she was in a hospice and I get what Nick means because when we saw her in the Mortuary it was like she was a waxwork, well thats how I saw her, even though the night before she looked herself. Anyway Im going to keep going with your plans and your little trip to Liverpool
We used Viatour think that's what you said, and booked the city tour including the water tour around the bay. This was a few years ago and we honestly thought yeah if this is for real it's a really good price. And it was. It included the hop-on hop-off buss which we basically used as a sightseeing bus, but there was a parade for an athletics team so the bus took a different route and it was brilliant to see things not on the usual route

Your trip sounds incredible, and I find a couple of things particularly exciting about it. For one, Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment is just down the street from my cousin’s. 😯 I haven’t been to New York City in many years, but I have always enjoyed my trips there and look forward to seeing what you got up to when you get into North Carolina you’re going to be in the state next to mine, albeit about 400 miles away. I have been to both Charleston and Savannah, and I took one of the Old Time Trolley tours, though the horse and buggy one sounds like it might be a bit more comfortable. Both cities are very atmospheric, and I’m sure you will enjoy seeing them.
Cancer is a terrible disease. My mom is going through chemo now and it is so hard to watch her struggling. I hope you guys enjoy New York and I love the idea of following in Nick’s moms footsteps.

Nick, you could grate the cheese from the freezer or grate it then freeze it, it will then defrost quickly and you could use it straight from the freezer x

It’s true what they say the city never sleeps & if you stay there long enough you can watch the world go by.

I would say rather than doing both the Empire State Building and Rockerfella Centre, just do Rockerfella. You get a much better view of Central Park and you can also look back at the Empire State Building which is the most iconic building in Manhattan! 🗽

Hi Guys just a few suggestions for your trip a long the Blue ridge parkway it’s really beautiful if you get the chance check out Chimney rock park it’s where they filmed last of the Mohican’s, and when you go to Savannah try the pink house for a great meal , also Forest gump was filmed there in Savannah , the opening scene on the bench in the park ,Have a great time .
Wow, can I come too? We have been to these places, loved them. Also blue ridge mountains, Shenandoh National Park....fabulous. if you go to North Carolina visit the the Wright brothers museum. Can't wait for the vlogs to come. Have a stupendous time 🎉 xxx Also, try and visit AMI, even if its for a day, we love visiting when we stay in Bradenton. X

I also go to places where my mum has been & I sit quietly & think of her so not strange at all to hear you want the same to be close to your Mum. The one good lesson we all learn from losing a loved one is to treat those we love with kindness and care because we never know when they will be taken from us. When you look at it that way you realize that meaness, pettiness, and holding grudges are such a tremendous waste of precious time.
I plan my holidays exactly the same way. It's just an easy way to track what's happening 🙂
I like you all the time, not just at the Lodge or in Florida. 😊😊😊
Ugh myrtle beach lol it’s interesting. I’m a NC native and live in Charlotte and we all call it Dirty Myrtle. Charleston you’ll love! Super jealous and hope you have a great time though!
Guys - Loving your plans. I hope it heals your wounds from the last few months. Your trip last year inspired me to plan our own journeys across America. I know have North, South, East & West road trips being planned. Let me know if you want me to share any info.

Looking forward to the vlogs as we have been to the places you are going when we did an Easst Coast fly drive. If you are into the American Civil war there are loads of historical sites especially in Virgina. If you are into The Waltons visit the Waltons Museum , we have been twice. In Savannah sit on the Forrest Gump bench. Enjoy whatever you do

Hi guys I am in New York at the moment on a 5 day stay.... Whilst the city is busy times square was the most crowded and not my favorite place. Top of the rock in my opinion had better views than the empire state building. Hope on off tour bus was an easy way to see a lot. South Street Seaport worth a visit. Have a great time

Go to the south street seaport and then walk down to china town. The seaport is very relaxing and gives you a break from the people!
I watched someone’s vlog in New York …an they were in that building with glass bottom floor an big windows …& I felt so sick just watching it ..I couldn’t do it 😂
The Biltmore home is at the end of the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Go see America's castle.

So pleased you are doing another road trip, you deserve it, and when you get to Florida, take the time to go to,Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, Nick says it’s too expensive, which it is, so stay on the mainland, Sarasota or Bradenton, plenty of decent hotels, much cheaper, and it’s only around 10 to 15 min drive to the island, it will be so worth it, it’s my favourite place to go, and if you have any spare time whilst you are there, go to Myakka River State Park, it’s a drive through nature park, a very different experience. 🐊
Today I am just catching up on the your videos, after having spinal surgery, my heart goes out to you and your family 😢 Sending u both massive hugs and love, I’m feeling every bit of your pain my heart hurts everyday with the loss of my mum who passed away 16 years ago, it’s still doesn’t seem real, but if I keep talking about her, it gets me through each day 😢, your mum would be very proud of you both, remember the beautiful memories you made with her, she will always be with you, sending hugs ❤️xx

Definitely visit Chelsea Market when you do the high line.. I would highly recommend Katz Deli and the Big Gay Ice Cream shop in Greenwich village. Enjoy NYC

I always wanted to take my dad to nyc but he died before i could so my sister myself and my mum went 4 months after he died and everywhere we went we always had an empty seat so we always said he was with us in spirit its comforting

I went to NYC in 80s, but my sister in law did a NYC Gangster Mob Tour , she side it was great, they take you to where the gangsters hung out, etc

Great Vlog we are going to florida July 22nd to August 22nd so are looking forward to seeing what you get up too on this trip. This will be our 3rd trip there in just 14 months. I would love to see a Lodge Guys Cook book as I think that would be a best seller including Food from around the World .Love the Jones Gang
How many points do you normally use per flight per person and how much tax do you have to pay?
New York is Great we did a helicopter trip and went up the top of the rock
we might have a helicopter tour booked too :)

Not sure if it’s too late now but i saw that undercover tourist have some great discounts on all sorts of things all over the US so might be helpful for you
Sounds a great trip you're planning, looking forward to watching it. Add the New York Public library and Bryant Park to your SATC list and take a trip to Grand Central Station. Times Square will be rammed, I hated it as there were so many people around
Hi guys i went to New york over 23 yrs ago for my brothers 40th it was in February and bloody freezing i remember going up the world Trade Centre and standing on the roof cant wait till the vlogs.

Went to New York in about 2010 we got the New York pass gets you in to loads of places. Did alot of off the same places on our 2019 trip, lots of museums in Washington, we loved our trip down to Savannah.
Sounds like it’s going to be a great trip. Can’t wait for the vlogs. Just got back from 4 nights New York and 4 in Seattle. The Edge is insane. Couldn’t even look at it never mind go up it.

Sounds like an amazing trip! I love Savannah and have been many times. The Historic district with all the squares is lovely. There’s also river walk which has bars/restaurants including roof top bars. Would recommend the Slow ride bike to see a bit of the historic district and particularly the pub crawl one! There’s an open container law in Savannah so you can walk about with your drink 🍺. Would also recommend O’Connells Irish bar. Great people. Have a fabulous trip 😁 xx
