  • Replacing front struts on 2014 and up Ram Promaster (Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, and Citroen Jumper). Can you hear a "popping" noise when turning the steering wheel? Then you need upper strut mounts!

    Great video. I get the noise when I turn but also get clunking on bumps. Going to replace these mounts and hopefully that's it. Thanks for the video

    Is there a way to do maintenance on the strut bearings? Add grease ?

    You mentioned 2 hours allowed for the job. Is that for 1 strut or both struts? What is a reasonable amount of time needed to replace a pair of these stunts and bearings from the time you start to the time you finish? Assuming you have the proper tools for the job. Looks like a fair amount of time and effort is expended to just get to them, then put everything back afterwards.

    Gabriel makes a strut kit that has a new spring installed plus that top bearing mount for $135.

      Did you end up using that I see it on Amazon? But the problem is they say that they aren’t as good as the oem so it would be better to just get that top mopar piece to replace those ball bearings.

      @@giannizamora7247 Replaced original with the Gabriel kit and after 12k miles I have a clunk coming from the strut tower. Not clunking while turning the wheel just when going slow over small bumps. Thought it was ball joint but the joint is tight can't emulate the noise when the car is jacked.

    Is it necessary to remove axle from knuckle or did you do that for speed?

    • @hdetmechanicd4911
      @hdetmechanicd4911 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, you do need to put a spring compressor on the quickstrut to install it without having to touch the balljoint or axle nut. I pulled out the sway bar nut to make things easier to put the control arm down to squeeze the compressed quick strut into the bore/ear on the spindle. 3 hr job.

    Don't we have to pump the strut before assembling it (mechanic has told me once) ?

    • @TDRAuto
      @TDRAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just checked the service procedure in FCA Service Library and there is no mentioning of ‘pumping’ before installation. The only ‘pumping’ required as far as I know is on Wranglers for steering dampener.

    2 hrs labor is ridiculous. Customers only see the total bill and have no idea how little of that actually goes to the tech.
