  • Hey, I'm Bubble Tea Kristin! In today's video I will show you how to easily cook 3 & 5 Minute Boba, aka Tapioca Pearls. I say 3 or 5 minute because they're both the same product for the most part... and what I found personally is that even the 3-minute type tastes better if you cook it 5-minutes! So... best if we simply cook the 3 or 5 minute type for a full 5-minutes in length! 😂 But if you're really needing those extra 2-minutes to spare, then cooking the 3-minute type for 3-minutes is totally fine!!! 😂😂😂😂
    👉🏼Remember to use a 1:10 ratio... 1 part boba to 10 parts water.
    👉🏼Bring it to a boil BEFORE putting in the uncooked pearls...
    👉🏼Once cooked, rinse in running water or put individual pearls into a bowl of water to stop the cooking process...
    👉🏼Place cooked pearls in a sweet solution for a bit before consuming (if you want)
    👉🏼Consume right away or within 4-hours for best quality and taste.
    👉🏼Best NOT to reheat these once cooked... because they're already in a pre-cooked form.
    👉🏼Store un-used un-cooked pearls in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
    In my video for the 1:10 ratio I use
    1/2 cup or 4oz (US) : 120ml or 40.58oz (US)
    double would be
    1 cup or 8.12oz (US) : 240ml or 81.15oz (US)

    Perfect timing! I went to an H Mart Korean grocery store in NJ 2 weeks ago and bought a bag of these. I have no excuse to mess them up after watching this video 😅 I wish I would have bought different kinds I was concerned they would not be good. Next time I know! ❤ Ps you’re such a great teacher and you explain everything so well.

    How do I preserve left over tapioca pearls to use again another day, and how do I prepare them after it has been cooked once?

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Best to just consume them right away.😉 They're so fast cooking... Unlike the ones that takes 1.5 hours 😭😭😭

    How long do they stay good in the fridge after the bag has been opened ?

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't put them in the fridge personally... Better off putting them into an airtight container with an oxygen absorber, and putting them into the freezer.
      They can probably stay there indefinitely as long as they don't get freezer burn...
      This is for at-home use of course, not for a shop. 🤔😉

      I don't have a link, but I did a Google search for 'quick cook 5 minute boba' and I saw there's some for sale on Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and other online retailers. Hope that helps!

    Hi Kristin, when I cook the tapioca, it is soft and chewy, but after I put it in the cup and add the other ingredients, it starts to harden. Do you have any idea why this happened?

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Naturally tapioca pearls will become hard in an ice cold drink when left for any period of time. This is why when we did events, we gave the client the option of adding the tapioca pearls just before serving it to the customers.
      There are some ways to possibly get around it hardening so quickly, such as trying out different brands and types. The other option might be cooking it slightly longer so it is more chewy, and therefore will take less time to harden in an ice cold drink.
      Hope this helps!

      The idea is that when I make it at home and add it to a cold drink, it hardens, but when I buy it from a boba shop, it is added to a cold drink but does not harden.😅

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chadimakrach It probably has to do with the brand. Are you using the quick cook type at home or are you using the kind that takes an hour and a half to cook?

    What is the different of normal tapioca pearls and instant tapioca pearls

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you google the ingredients for both Instant and long-cook type, you'll see more in the instant. Not to say the long-cook are healthier, but they're more raw and pure. The short cook ones have been processed different so you only have to cook them for a short period of time out of the bag. However, the chewiness (QQ) is different. Short cook type are more like a gummy bears opposed to the long cook type which tends to be a hard/soft marshmallow. It's all personal preference really. Most people can't even tell the difference!
      Hope his helps!😇

    • @BubbleTeaKristin

      Price per gram compared to a 3 kilo bag of long cook type? Definitely 😅 But with supply and demand... We may see the wholesale price come down in the future.

  • @nocando17

    Why would boba shops use the 30-45 mins boba when you can just use these boba balls?

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great Question!
      1.) These are WAY more expensive price per weight. 😂😂😂
      2.) There is a difference in QQ. The chewiness of these is about the same, but the bite is different. It's difficult to explain if you've never had them side by side.
      side note: I went to a boba shop in California the other day and could easily tell they were the new 'ready' type... although tasted similar, the tongue texture was different. They were the type you simply put into a slow cooker, brown sugar and all, warm up for a few minutes. But 99% of people won't notice the difference. But the shop was more concerned about speed and easiness than quality.

    • @nocando17
      @nocando17 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BubbleTeaKristin so you would they the quick easier to make boba is lower quality?

    • @BubbleTeaKristin
      @BubbleTeaKristin  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@nocando17 No, just different. Like two different types (brands) of apples.
      Premium pearls have a more premium taste to some.. but if the younger generations haven't ever tried premium pearls... They would never know the difference.
      But true boba connoisseurs who have traveled the world and had bubble tea at hundreds of Boba shops would be able to taste the difference. 😂🤣😂🤣
      But if you've never had Pink Lady apples over Granny Smith spples... Which one is better?! It's all personal preference 💯🧋😎

      😫 !?
      Could be:
      1.) The water wasn't boiling high enough.
      2.) They're not instant pearls but in fact long-cook type.
      3.) Put the lid on to keep in the heat.
      4.) You're at a crazy altitude and may need to cook longer.
