  • This recipe uses good old fashioned Boba vs. the quick cooking pearls. If you're a fan of bubble tea, you should try making this at home to add in Taiwanese Milk Tea or for desserts. ***Jan 2015 update: I found this new brand of boba that cooks better. Cooking directions and brand comparison are in my new video: • How to make Bubble Tea...
    It's Bolle brand of Premium Tapioca Pearls. Total active cooking time of 20 mins + 25 mins. resting covered.
    Where to buy: If you can find it in stock at your local Asian grocery store, it's worth picking up a package to cook in small batches. You'll find the best price in stores, but honestly I've been keeping an eye out for months and this brand goes quickly. I'm guessing all the bubble tea shops use this one. ;)
    Online: It looks to be more expensive but Amazon sells it with free shipping. amzn.to/1wtRf4i
    Ingredients: Tapioca Starch, Water, Caramel Maple Syrup Flavor

    Cooked boba is only typically good for the day, so it's best to consume it fresh. If you have to store it for a few hours, put it in a container. Just make sure to cover the boba ever so slightly with a bit of honey/sugar dissolved in a mixture of room temperature water. This will prevent the bubbles from sticking together. (not too much liquid is needed for this) If you refrigerate the boba, the texture will change and it won't be as good the next day (Trust me. I've tried). You can also just use up any leftover bubbles to make Milk Tea and share with Friends. :) Here's my video on how to Make Taiwanese Milk Tea. th-cam.com/video/CU-WVa-f1Lo/w-d-xo.html

    You shouldn't call this video "made from scratch" since the tapiocas was made already, all you have to do was bring them to a boil. Your video is just instructing what is written on the back of those uncooked tapioca band bags. Nothing on this video is made from scratch. Personally I think this video is pointless. *Smh

    why does my boba keep this hard light colored center. Ive tried various "cooking routines" some of which take quite a while so I don't know why it's still uncooked in the center. (sometimes the outside has even started disintegrating) maybe I'm just using a poor brand. I'm using "jumbo boba tapioca balls" which has a yellow and black packaging. the directions tell me to cook them for 40 minutes, add more water and cook for another 40 minutes, yet the results are as I just stated. Some boba expert here that could help me out?

    • @angelwongskitchen
      @angelwongskitchen  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Desiree Dacalos Unfortunately, cooked boba is best served fresh (the same day or within a few hours of cooking). When you refrigerate the boba, the texture won't be the same and it will become almost stale like. If you want to keep it for use later in the day, add a small amount of a water and sugar mixture just enough to coat the boba so they don't stick together, and cover with a lid. And yes, they go well with milk tea. Check out my videos if you need good recipes for milk tea. :)

      I think the only bad thing about it is if you get the kind that has maleic acid in in. (I think that's what it's called) Just make sure the type you get doesn't have it in it, and it's ok.

      Raffy Colis When the boba is cooking, it will absorb the water along with the honey/ brown sugar. Rinsing it afterwards will only cool it down.

    Hi great video. But the boba I bought takes 30minutes to cook. Is it the same as your one? And please teach us how to make peach bubble tea with the peach syrup. Or green apple or strawberry bubble tea with the powder. Thank u!
