One of my favorite things about you both is the community of people that you've attracted. I could have spent a month talking all things sailing with you both--3 hours wasn't enough time 😅--but getting a chance to interact with you both finally in person and meeting up with fellow patrons and cruisers was such a wholesome and enjoyable experience. Definitely a highlight of my sailing adventures! (pro tip: if Nick asks you "how much do you know about meteorology?" before explaining something weather related, unless you have a degree in the field, the correct answer is "very little" 😂)
Thank you for connecting us and bringing us along with you on your journey. Greetings from Albion 🦮 & Michael on Endeavour,..hope to see you out on the water again very soon. 🙏💛⛵
P.S. @HollyandRay I know we were upwind, but I'm pretty sure we could smell those tacos cooking...that looked amazing 😋

I'm new to your channel and only watched a few episodes, I'll go back and watch the earlier ones as some point, but I subscribed so I could watch as you search & purchase your new boat and then follow your upcoming adventures. However, I really enjoyed this episode as I'm from the Kitsap Peninsula and knew all the places you visited in the video. More then that, while you were on the Liberty Bay Marina Pier in Poulsbo looking at the trimaran, my old office was just over your shoulder. The first floor window under the staircase heading up to the second floor was were I had my desk. I'm sure you can attest by how beautiful the view is from there, that you would understand why I never got much work done as most of my time was spent looking out that window. Thanks for the memory and good luck with your search. I'll be watching 🙂

We were coming off a great weekend, six adults on a 34' Catalina and decided we needed something a wee bit bigger and started looking, and looking, and... then, frustrated, on a Saturday about a year in hubby says "we'll make do, get a composting head, do this, do that--- stop looking" and I'm like o.k. Next day he casually walks by and says "I think I found our boat". We bought her sight unseen with a survey but due to Covid, health issues, and a sudden move from Ontario to Nova Scotia, hubby is only seeing her this week for the first time- in Rhode Island of all places- I am at home and haven't seen her yet! You do weird things to follow your dreams, try different avenues and along the way magic happens. Hubby reports that our 1979 41' CC Ketch is better than he thought it would be by far and he's met the owners who had done all the heavy lifting on her for 20 years. You'll find that boat that speaks to your spirit and in the meantime we get to live vicariously through you and tag along with your adventures. Great content as usual!

Well worth putting on your bucket list if you get the chance. Good luck with the search. You will eventually find what your looking for even if it's not a boat.. 🙂 Thanks for the video. Search On!

O'Kelly's hi from Calgary Alberta. I can't believe it this has to be some kind of record however I'm sure that's no comfort for your disappointment and frustration. You're such great people and all this BS to find a boat. However I respect your ability to know when the number isn't right or there is just too much work to bring a boat up to your standards. It's a great lesson for others be able to walk away. But the upside, when and you will find your next boat it is going to be so GREAT.

I love Grenada. I hope to sail down there by end of summer if my friend can find parts for his Sherman tank diesel engines up in Toronto. If you are still there, take a cruise up to Les Tantes islands. There is a tiny island that has broken off from the large island - North of it. The small island has a really neat natural pool, actually 2 others, but this one you can swim in. The pool was created by the rocks that have broken off from the main island that created a 'wall' from the crashing Atlantic waves. Approach the island from the South of it, because it has a nice little bay. Use a dingy to get in, not a boat. If you do this trip, then bring some fresh water for the squatters on Rhonde Island. You don't need to beach - they will come out. Excellent fishing there too. West of Les Tantes is 'the spot' to catch them.

I must have missed something, I waited to the end and still no boat 😢. Keep looking, there is one out there. Andy UK

My little 2 cents worth. Well meaning Patreons could be chatting up a seller about you and what great people you are and knowledge of sailing. Sellers might only hear YT channel and think ohhh those people have a lot of money they can spend on a boat and see $$$$. Not the patreons fault but unintentionally putting you at a disadvantage before you get off the plane to see the boat. If nothing else, you are providing valuable lessons to new boat buyers to not jump in too soon on a boat.

Who knows. I'm sure everyone means well. Just not a lot on the market in the design category we are looking for, and what we are finding is that what is for sale frequently isn't in good condition.

Well that was a bit of a damp squb! More time discussing the merits of sour dough tortillas than the merits of the various boats. Quite watchable but I can only take so much tension on a 'sailing' channel. I may fast forward to the end of the next one.........!

I'm curious about how much you've spent in your search for your new boat? Do you sometimes consider buying a new boat like a Seawind and save yourselves from all the hassle? (aka Ruby Rose 2 and Tula's Endless Summer)

    • @TheOKellys
      @TheOKellys  ปีที่แล้ว +3

No, we'd never buy a new boat. We might design and have one built one day.

@@TheOKellysnow that’s a boat I’d be very interested in hearing more about! After such an exhaustive (and exhausting) search it’d be awesome to hear about the design brief.

Awesome to get an update! @0.40 "We do have ""Clarity"" on it 😉. Surprised you guys haven't been flat out with charters, or at min others asking you join them on a crossing. Would have liked the last couple of cats vaga been on, perhaps outta both our price range tho (unfortunately). Now Nick... don't want to hurt ur feelings, but we need to discuss that hat.

Oh man the bait and switch on the price on the Seattle boat would have had me furious! Your zen is admirable 🫶🏻. The Granada boat, the 41 questions for the seller, I wish there was a way to get those answers before you had to fly all the way down there 😢. On the upside, it was so great to see you both happy and out sailing again! Hopefully we’ll meet in a sunny anchorage someday, appropriately anchored far away from each other 😅

Lol, we don’t bite. With these old boats, you don’t know what questions to ask until you get there. You can’t smell the cat urine until you get there…and he broker certainly won’t tell ya!

Hi you two boat searchers. I can’t recall if you have searched “ Just Catamarans “ ? They have a nice selection of boats on their website and they are located near Fort Lauderdale.

Continue continue (yes, I know I said that twice) to love your channel. Just curious though, in hindsight, do you ever wish you would not have sold your previous boat? Regardless, I think great days are ahead. Thank you for the adventure.

At times we really miss Clarity, but a lot of awesomeness came of that decision, so, no regrets
