    Casual meal prep today - should I do a more formal one next time? (I.e. more specific recipes, portions and step-by-step voiceover.) Next meal prep I will save my receipts and show you how cheap this can be! Hope you all have THE BEST weekend. ❤️❤️❤️

      She has a recent sandwich recipe where she mentions how to do it. Stuff everything inside a mason jar: julianned carrots and daikon radish, chopped coriander, chili, then fill the rest of the jar with vinegar to the top (it shouldnt be a lot since it is already stuffed with veg). I think they are ready to eat in 24 or 48 hours (keep in fridge).

    Love this meal prep!! Got a few tips for you too: If you are worried about your hands smelling like garlic, just rub a metal spoon over your hands on the areas the garlic touched. Not sure how it works but it neutralizes the smell completely! Pre-chopped salads are indeed more expensive. The less you have to do to food from a grocery store the more you pay for it. Lastly, the object you used on your knife is called a "honing steel". It won't actually sharpen your knife but instead keeps your blade straight. Every chop you make with your knife, it warps it slightly and the steel makes it straight again. If you want to sharpen your knife you can use what's called a "whetstone". They come in all sizes and colors and are very easy to use! Didn't want to come off as sounding mean with this comment, just a foodie helping out. Love Ya! :)

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen
      @SarahsVeganKitchen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! I did know this. I've watched so many videos on how to use a whetstone but I'm scared I'll mess up my knives doing it myself! So I usually just take them in occasionally to get professionally sharpened. But since you say it's easy maybe I'll give it a try! Or maybe practice on a cheaper knife. Thanks for the comment! :D

    Thanks for sharing, I learned two new things. The chickpea curry in a slow cooker, and using a rice cooker to make 'un-fried' rice.
    A hint if you find your spices go bland in the slow cooker. Whole spices can be cooked from the start but get stronger in flavour the longer you cook. Ground spices are best added around 40 minutes to the end. They don't lose their heat or bright flavour. Worth a shot at least?

    Some really great ideas. I should be doing more prep so I don't eat so much junk. Thanks!
