    your cooking always looks so appetizing, i see so many vegan youtubers that just dump plain rice and beans into a bowl with veggies and salsa and call it a burrito bowl

      Haha I do that sometimes too when lazy, but I think it's worth it for sure to add the onions, peppers, spices. :)

    Sarah, I cannot tell a difference between red/green bell peppers; HOWEVER, my six very picky Guinea pig ladies definitely can! My little fat fats will not touch a green bell pepper slice. But, if I put out red bp slices, it's like walkers with a body! 🐹😂

    investing in a small pressure cooker can be a huuuge time saver for cooking beans and dals and even harder veggies like potatoes (and you wont have to worry about spill over :) ). I think it takes me 5 minutes to cook a cup of black beans after soaking overnight. thanks for this awesome video!

      Sarah I have had an Ipot for some time and it has completely changed my life. So worth the investment. There are some wonderful Ipot creators on TubeYou, mŷ favorite being Jill McKeever on Simple Daily Recipes. She and her family are vegan and she makes consistently wonderful recipes. I have been grateful for the Ipot since the moment I started using it.

    Love your videos and this one made my mouth water! Just as a note, while black beans aren't such a problem, be careful with cooking dry beans in a crock pot. There's a toxin in some dry beans (particularly red kidney) that needs to reach a certain temp to be shut down, and a crock pot doesn't reach that temperature.

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen
      @SarahsVeganKitchen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Wow, I had no clue. I will remember this! Thank you.

    • @DarkSerena
      @DarkSerena 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sarah's Vegan Kitchen I only learned about it recently myself! Definitely google it, you can soak the beans, discard the water, and boil them briefly before therowing them into the slow cooker to shut down the toxin and make them safe.

  • @elizabethcoale2569
    @elizabethcoale2569 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    i only use green bell pepper when I'm making Cuban food bc the sweetness from red pepper throws off the taste. Otherwise I think green bell pepper is the trash of the capsicum world 😂😂I'm fine w cubanelles and poblanos and banana peppers and other green colored peppers but green bells... noo thank you.

    • @bshepherd6901

    • @elizabethcoale2569
      @elizabethcoale2569 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Try using other types sometime! Red cubanelles are my favorite, because they're the cheapest peppers where I live. I'm also fond of Anaheims and red bell peppers, though. There's a place near me that sells red bells 3 for $1 in season so I buy loads of them, dice them, freeze them, and use them every time I'm cooking xD

    Hi, I hope you don't take this comment the wrong way but I'm 17 and I have really bad anxiety and suffer from panic attacks.. I was on the verge of one earlier today and I forced myself to just watch recipe videos on youtube (I like them a lot) and I came across your channel and your videos. I just wanted to say your videos are really nicely made and your voice (this is where I hope you don't take it the wrong way) is really calming, especially in your voice over parts. Also I am a vegetarian so don't worry, I am totally going to try out these recipes and I'm even contemplating becoming vegan now that I've seen the dishes you can still make. I look forward to more of your videos!! Thank you ♥

      @SarahsVeganKitchen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey. :) I'm sorry to hear you're going through that. I also struggled so much with my mental health and had panic attacks for years. I talk a little bit about it in a previous video of mine. I'm glad that I can help calm you! Don't give up hope; I have faith that things will get better for you!

    Yummy! I've found a trick for my peppers and onions if I'm going to make a fajita type dish, I put them in the freezer after I've sliced them and somehow they caramelize so much better when I cook them. I make a bunch of my "fajita packs" with mushrooms to store in the freezer and they cook up great every time. Love your channel!

    Another cool video I think would be "depression meals" where basically if you don't have energy or appetite - much like people do when they're going through depression - having things to eat that would be fast and low effort because the struggle is real and computer light isn't a meal. (If you like this idea but need suggestions, I have a few go-to things)

    When you have extra guacamole, it will keep in the fridge well if it's packed in a bowl with about an inch of cold water over the top. Drain water out when using again. It really helps it from turning black.

    Love this! Prepping Mexican food is really too easy and so fudging delicious!
    Also I LOVE Vietnamese spring rolls and if you haven't made them yet I strongly recommend it! The prep is just as easy as Mexican and it's SO fresh and amazing! I usually fill mine with thin rice noodles, sriracha marinated tofu, a shitload of veggies, coriander (as it is called...lol) and then dip it in this AMAZING peanut butter and sriracha dip. (I can't even talk about this without getting hungry! You must try!)
    Also I love red peppers and I hate green peppers. Lol.
    Keep up the good work and thank you for amazing inspiration and videos!

    Hey Sarah! Growing up in a Chinese household, corn dogs are not a stable. I've been wanting to try corn dogs for the longest time but instead of frying them, I wanted to bake them. I recently came across a baked corn dog recipe from The Vegan Dad and was wondering if you could test the recipe out (vegandad.blogspot.ca/2012/01/baked-mini-corn-dogs.html)
    Thank you!

    Hi Sarah, you should invest in an Elite electric pressure cooker, its 40-60 dollars and you literally dump the dry unsoaked beans with water, seasoning, press the beans button and done in 40 mins. You can forget about them as it will be on warm mode after it's done. Very efficient.

    Green peppers have such a distinctly different flavour from the red ones. When I cook with a lot of red and sweet vegetables I like to throw in the green ones just to contrast the flavours a lil :)

      Sarah's Vegan Kitchen haha nah, I only have an excellent sense of smell/taste, I'm way too lazy to cook elaborate and sophisticated often, haha! I'll eat almost anything as long as it's vegan :D.

    I always say the same thing. 1 block of Tofu is not enough....2 blocks is like enough to feed the whole neighborhood.

    i make my beans in a pressure cooker and they take only 30 minutes, starting with completely dried beans. Adding a little olive oil to the beans, will greatly reduce the amount of bubbles they make! Looks awesome! :D

    OMG, I love cooking with chipotle peppers, they are great in veggie chili and in Mexican based sauces. If they are too spicy you can remove the seeds and only put the actual pepper in your dish so it's not as hot. Yes, I too can eat a whole block of tofu in one sitting, it's so delicious. Just a tip when one block of tofu isn't enough and 2 is too much, I buy the sprouted organic one from Traders that you can actually break or cut half of the actual package off while leaving the other one in it's package, these are the best for when you want 1 1/2 blocks. Btw, I also love that you love cilantro, it's so rare to see people liking cilantro these days. I guess you either love it or hate it.

    Unfortunately green peppers give me an upset stomach, but I’ll use red orange and jalapeño. Thanks for sharing 😊

    Green bell peppers can be really bitter, actually, so...no, I don't like them and I don't really feel like they're interchangeable with red or orange. And I prefer orange. :)

    you honestly rival hotforfood as my favorite vegan cooking channel. you actually use spices! you taste things along the way and adjust what's needed. i can see the ease in eating simply as many vegans on youtube do, but i'm all about flavor and you always bring the flavor with your recipes!

    Hi Sarah! Love your videos! Just noticed that around @8:10 to @8:17 the cutting board starts to slide. Try putting a damp rag or a damp towel/napkin under it to give you more friction and prevent the board from moving.

    Thanks for doing this recipe video. You’ve inspired me. I did this meal prep and added the Chipotle copycat recipe for corn salsa. I feel like the thing that would push this over the edge is some vegan queso!

    I love bell peppers in general, but green peppers are my favorite. I feel like they have more flavor. Which is unfortunate because I'm the only one in my family that likes them 😅
