    I tried cauliflower rice two times, really not my thing sadly. It just happens to have this boiled cabbage test even if it's fried. I haven't tried to mix it with real rice, but I don't know, there are many other usages of cauliflower, so it's fine. I'll def try the wraps, look amazing

    The chickpea scramble looks great, Sarah. Nice tips on preparing babaghanoush in an easier way, as the eggplant is traditionally roasted whole on an open flame to give it that distinct smoky flavour. The method you showed is much simpler for inexperienced cooks, such as myself. Thanks for sharing these recipes.

    Subscribed! You really love cooking vegan food and it shows. I have been vegan for 20 years. I stopped buying anything in a metal can a few years ago because of the BPA. Some cans say and are BPA free though. You should try soaking and cooking a pound of garbanzos though, it will be like having 10 cans of them for only $2.50 and they will taste way better. Keep up the good work - I will keep watching.

    Sarah!!! Tell me your secrets! No but seriously, I was wondering: How do you learn to like/love cooking? You're always so motivated in your cooking and you have great imagination! I want to tell myself I like cooking but everytime I do it, I am so stressed out by the cooking process, lose all patience, get really frustrated...and I always find myself having to follow a recipe. Almost every time I try out a new dish for the first time I hate how it tastes when I've made it but love how it turns out when others make it :( I have 2 things that I find easy making and I've even stopped following a recipe but everything else is so stressful...Was there ever a time in your life when you actively disliked cooking? Or you didn't really fancy it? If yes, how it did change? I'd love to know if you have any tips for learning how to like cooking. Perhaps a video would be interesting? Or if you have time to reply here that's be brilliant too! Thank you so much

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen
      @SarahsVeganKitchen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will try to make a video on this soon! But I have pretty much always loved cooking, mostly because I grew up with a dad who loved cooking and was in the restaurant biz. However, I can totally relate to getting overwhelmed/frustrated at times in the kitchen. On most days, I will only cook one meal that requires prep and everything else will be very simple (like oats, baked potatoes, salads etc. or leftovers) -- I definitely feel a little frazzled on days when I record 3 recipes.
      One-pot recipes or crockpot recipes are a great place to start if you want a home-cooked meal that is very easy and doesn't require much cleanup. Frozen veggies are a lifesaver too for when you don't want to do a lot of prep work!
      I've gotten to a point now where I can eyeball things and make up recipes on the fly, but at first I would always follow recipes to a T. This can help you get a feel for different cooking techniques and how to combine ingredients without measuring. I would always look up recipes that had lots of ratings. Allrecipes and Epicurious were my favorite sites; I would search a recipe and sort by rating, and then read reviews to see if other people had recommended any ways to improve the recipe.
      Nowadays, unless I'm filming or hosting a dinner, usually I will only cook one dish. (I used to go overboard and try to cook several things at a time and it was so frustrating and cleanup was a disaster!) So I will focus all my energy on one dish now and serve it with very simple sides -- steamed rice and veg, or pasta, etc.
      Also, just remembering to salt your food (if you're not avoiding salt) can make a huge difference! Sometimes recipes don't explicitly mention salt and you just have to remember to add that to taste so that the food isn't bland. :)

      Yeah, I've eaten them raw before and my jaw was just so tired haha. I really enjoy them slightly cooked.

    Looks delish. I'm jealous you have time to cook 3x day! I also highly recommend La Tourangelle Avocado Oil for cooking. This stuff is expeller pressed and made by hand. Avocado oil, unlike olive oil, is not heavily processed and has a naturally long shelf life compared to olive oil. Also it's got a higher temperature for burning, so I don't need to keep an eye on sautéed garlic and such nor continually stir all the time to prevent burning veg.

      I don't cook 3x on weekdays but I definitely love to test out new recipes on weekends when I have more time. :) I have never worked with avocado oil but I will look into getting some for sure! I usually use coconut oil but I've been looking for something with a higher smoke point.

    The breakfast scramble so sounds good. Think I could substitute hummus for the baba ganoush? I'm super lazy and don't want to make it, haha! And I couldn't find it at my store.

      Probably, yes! I think the point is just something creamy to bind it all together. :)

    Your vids always give me a little bit of inspiration when I've started to feel like my diet is kinda stagnant, so thank you. Do you track your macros and if you do what kind of plan do you follow? I've recently started trying to tone up and I'm really struggling to eat a balanced vegan diet while also trying to lose fat and build muscle- I'm always starving!

      Hey there! I don't track macros at the moment but I am mindful that I eat a good amount of whole grains and legumes to get in protein. Those help keep me super satisfied and I have been more or less maintaining my weight for the past few months. The only time I really gain is when I start to eat too much processed food. I try to add in more non-starchy veg (salads, steamed greens etc.) when I want to lose that weight back.
      I might start tracking temporarily because I am currently working with a coach who would prefer that I put on some weight to get stronger.
