Can You Beat Bioshock 2 With Only A Drill? (in text form)
I forgot that I was supposed to be making a video and spent 15 minutes browsing PSN’s Holiday Sale, bought like 10 games, and Bioshock 2 begins. I’ll be honest, even though this is supposedly the Remastered version, it looks rough. I got to see the final stage in Bedrill’s evolution insert itself into a gentleman’s shirt, that was actually a deleted scene in Detective Pikachu, and I finally got to experience what it’s like to end yourself. The best part about this is that you can’t prove that this isn’t what happens when you end. With infinite universes and an infinite amount of time, there’s bound to be at least one dimension where you control a Big Daddy in Bioshock 2 after you end.
The upside here is that unlike Bioshock Infinite, I get the drill right at the start of the game. The general goal here is similar to the goal of the first Bioshock, help someone get out of Rapture. I got into combat for the first time, drilled a drill-sized hole into someone’s chest cavity, read some numbers backwards, rode the lightening, and yellow-eyes got kidnapped by an Olympic Sprinter. A slight annoyance is that I can’t put down my left hand. Much like a mummy in a cartoon, my arms are up whether I want them to be or not. Now, the purpose of this playthrough is to beat Bioshock 2 by only attacking with the Drill. The Electro-Bolt plasmid is required to Mountain Dew Kickstart a generator, but that’s okay because you’re not damaging an enemy with it.
Outside of the tutorial area, I tried to get my cousin’s attention, eviscerated two more Splicers, and had to pick up the Rivet Gun to proceed. It’s worthless, so after I put a few people to sleep, I wasted all the Gun’s ammo. Early on, just like in other Bioshock playthroughs, I tried to waste all the ammo from weapons I couldn’t use to prevent any accidental discharges, but I gave up after a little while because it was more trouble than it was worth.
The kidnapper revealed herself and handled me pretty good. She had molotov cocktails lodged in her keister that she used as a weapon against me. I wasn’t worried that she would kidnap me. My face is a natural deterrent to that sort of thing. Big Sister fled the scene before Rapture PD could catch her, but her evil knows no bounds, she Titanic’d this entire building. If nothing else, it gave the fishies a new place to swim. I think all the sadness and destruction was worth it. Our little aquatic friends deserve some happiness from time to time.

@Subpar1224 Yes, but the important part is it locks you to use only the drill (and research camera), therefore making it the best for a drill only challenge (or a normal playthrough where you want to use the drill and plasmids)

Personally this was my fav bioshock i loved the story as it was even more terrifying than the first in a way and the role reversal of YOU as the big daddy oh god AND THE DRILL!!! AAAAAAAH AND MINERVAS DENNNN

@@calebross8174 there is one thing tho, thee ending of the first game it's not particularly good, there is no WYK plotwist to change that.
People tend to forget there is more game after the plotwist and it was not good.
Doesn't make it a worse game than the second, but nitpick the first game and it's not the perfect piece many make it to be. And after that, give the second game a more fair shot. It is not perfect, but the story has some good points. At least it's mostly solid the whole game.

I was thinking the same thing, but considering he can't use plasmids it wouldn't really do anything since it limits your arsenal down to the drill, hack tool, and camera while making plasmids take less EVE to use. If it increased drill damage or made fuel more efficient, then he'd probably go right for it and make the drill even more broken than what it already is.

To be honest I enjoyed Bioshock 2 more than Bioshock 1 and ive only played an hour of bioshock Infinite
Bioshock infinite especially doesn’t live up to its hype. To this day, it boggles me how it got sparkling critic reviews all across the board. It was fun, gameplay wise, but nothing incredible. And the story had a lot of rough spots, particularly near the end where it just becomes a convoluted mess.
@@BatKitKat I feel like had they stuck to the original vision, it would've been a lot better. Now, the last 1/4 of the game just feels like they didn't know how to wrap it up and just said "Multiverse Bro."
@@_zoluz it really would have been. But I guess they wanted to try and have a bit of bioshock 1 and 2 in it. Had to have some big twist in the end… but it was a convoluted mess of a twist. I honestly just wanted to see more of the world as is.
I played 1 and infinite for the story. But I didn't like the gameplay in infinite and bioshock 1 is fucking long. So I replayed bioshock 2 because while having a mediocre story, the gameplay was the best.
@@BatKitKat the base game is great, its just not a bioshock game. Aside from the plasmids (now vigors) and some other gameplay similarities the base game doesn't connect to the Bioshock series at all. And I agree, the ending is a mess and appears at such a random time in the story. It's difficult to understand what's going on without looking it up.
However there's the DLC "Buried at Sea" which does a great job at tieing the events of Infinite into Bioshock 1. You get the best of both worlds as you play as Booker and Elisabeth in a Rapture before its collapse, where Fontaine faked his death and now undercover as Atlas waits for the arrival of the Ace in the hole. You see how Rapture and Columbia communicated and shared their progresses (Plasmids and Vigors, Big Daddys and Songbird, Salt and Eve etc.).
You find out more about characters from Bioshock 1 and Infinite like Atlas and Daisy Fitzroy.
And most importantly, you witness how Elisabeth sets the plot of Bioshock 1 in motion by helping Atlas in exchange for a Little Sister.
Shame that this is a paid DLC as It's very important lorewise.
When are we getting Mitten Squad Mittens. Every night I go to sleep thinking of the sweet, sweet warmth of Blue Mittens branded with your heavenly yellow logo. The thought plagues my dreams, taunting me for what I seemingly cannot obtain in reality. As I look down at my cold, red, freezing hands, I shed a tear and pray that one day, one fateful day, I can have the godsend of Mitten Squad Mittens.
You should also be able to buy a Mitten Squad Mitten Squad so you have backups if they get worn out.

I am genuinely SHOCKED to how good it was.
the sound effect when you drill dash into another big daddy is one of the most satisfying things In any shooter imo. I love that in this game you are essentially a seven feet tall mech who can just body anybody.

Actually you can, you just have to bait a Brute to throw some shit at the barricade but it's only possible after you learned the Drill Dash so the game lets you proceed.

I remember playing when I was like 14. My game got glitched and the only weapon I could select was my drill for some reason. Was forced to do a drill only run and got the Brass Balls achievement in the same run! Always been proud of that but never had a place to put it before so there ya go
Its not a glitch.there is a drill upgrade that makes it twice as strong but can only use the drill

I have a game recommendation for you Mitten Squad, Its a game called Dying Light, its an open world game overrun with zombies, its a lot like the games that you normally play and do challenges on, it has a straight forward story with fun gameplay and parkour. it has a skill tree with interesting skills and many capable challenges and over a hundred weapons that you can make and craft into over a thousand different weapons. the majority of the weapons are mele but there are some long-range weapons, different zombie types, and a DLC that contains an entirely new main quest line and map. You may or may not see this comment but I hope you do and I hope you try the game and maybe even put it on your channel. Dying Light is also coming out with a sequel soon that is supposed to be good.

Bioshock 2 is literally my favorite game ever I love it so much and I made me feel so happy and so sad it's so much better than 1 and ifinate and I can't wait to play it again because I'm so inlove with the game
I wouldn't say it's necessarily *better* than 1 or infinite, but it really pisses me off when people pretend like it doesn't exist simply because they didn't like the storyline or whatever. All of the Bioshock games have their own unique flavor.
I catch myself playing the Bioshock series including dlc at least once a year. Beating it more effeciently then the last I started to notice. Playing Bioshock 2 I feel like a Delta from the commercial. 5 splicers catching a rivet to the face withing 5 seconds on the hardest difficulty. Plasmas flying all over the room. Good times.
