      Yea Kelly had a hayday with that one! 🤣 Ice trout are so much slimier. Probably good since it’s hard to handle trout similar to fly fish handling on the hard deck.

    Great first outing. Nice Tiger. Rainbows are the best fighters! "What's that mean? Good day!"

      That’s a great question. I often state that rainbow trout are my least favorite trout to catch. However they fight better than most trout despite that I would rather catch the cutthroat through ice anyday.
      15” bow is stronger than a 15” cutt and tiger!

    Nice videa as always man. I live just down the mountain from here, I was curious how the ice was up there. I'll have to get up that way soon. My boy and I caught TONS this past summer/fall in that same area where you guys are fishing (we were from the shore on the rocks).

      Thank you for your support and valued time! 🙏 that was the first time I fished that area and I literally thought to myself “I need to fly fish here next summer” haha.
      Ice was about 4-5 inches right off the rocks and about 7” where Kelly caught the Tiger.

      We fished Saturday. The edges were about 4-5" and roughly 15-20 yards out was 6+. If you go too far, I have heard many inconsistencies. Dead sticking was the ticket until about 1:00 and jigging suddenly picked up. The first spot with three fish was just off a popular area that many fish. When tent city showed up, we moved about 1/4 mile. I hope that helps and good luck!!! :)

    Not really sure why I partly expected a meme attempt at icefishing with a tenkara rod. This isnt that kind of channel. 😅

    • @skiddyfishing
      @skiddyfishing  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hang onto your belt because it’s coming! I have one lake in mine for that, and I’ve been thinking about it for sometime now.
      I still tenkara fish in the winter and strive to be 70% tenkara based on my channel but it’s fun to immerse in other styles. Keep your faith in Skiddy and ill get it to you!
      The question is what rod am I gonna use? 🧐

    • @coryjs9646
      @coryjs9646 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @skiddyfishing How fun I love that. Like through a normal ice fishing hole and everything? I'd guess a stiff Tenkara would be the choice if you're jigging.
      Im sure you got your choice of rods to choose from. If you need something wildly stiff & short I have some bass rods from Hill Country Tenkara I could throw your way.
      I'm just barely getting into Tenkara during the winter. Excited to see your next videos!

      @coryjs9646 thanks for your support! I have a whole Tenkara playlist so be sure to check that out if you want.
      I have looked at Hill County. Ironically for white bass which is the lake I am targeting mainly produces! I should have a rod for the challenge and it will be with a legit hole in the ice and everything haha! 😂
