This is far from my conventional form of tenkara/keiryu fishing but as I got talking with Keiryu Rod Co, this was one of the ideas I wanted to experiment with. I plan to fish a popular tailwater very soon with the T100 but I hope you enjoy my first take and impression of this VERY long rod.
Great video Skiddy!! Thanks for taking our T100 out on the lake and showing us its versatility! I think you've proved the mini-jig concept :) We also second your takeaway on the line length; keeping it to the same length as the rod (even a little shorter is fine too when on a tube) is definitely recommended. Look forward to the next T100 or TN Provo adventure if you're up to it. Tight Lines!!
Absolutely! The original plan was to bring the T100 and the TN Provo for a side by side comparison and that is next on my list for these rods! I can't wait to get them on the water. Thanks for the support David! :)
Skiddy!! Great video, brother! Those last 2 fish you caught were beautiful and good sized! So cool watching you catch em on that giant Tenkara rod! 🤙🤙✌️🎣
Thanks brother! The feet were 🥶 when I was done lol. The adjustment I would make is shortening the line up a few feet as those cutthroat don’t fight as hard as rainbows so If it was a bow, id be doomed hand lining that 😂
That's the rod I started out with! I've moved toward a more standard Euro setup, but I'll still pull it out for super cold weather when I don't want to bother with ice in my guides. The TN Provo is also fun for heavier nymphs/streamers
Great video and fish and sweet looking rod! Fixed line fly fishing with an 18 ft rod on a mini jig?!! Looks like fun and very effective. Great to see tenkara, keiryu being used in innovative ways, the American way :).
Glad you saw it through my lense. Ill admit I intended to have more streamer fly uptime and mix the artificial jig only about 30% in but I lost a $5 streamer and wanted to save the rest for an upcoming fly fishing adventure. The results ended up being pretty affective haha!
Nice video and review of the rod. I have their Inyo rod. It's a great rod, caught some big fish with it, and a great rod for euro style fishing. Very well made and finished.
@@michaelcapurso I am interested in the Inyo too! Id love to fish it sometime. I actually have the Ansel too and very much looking forward to that as it’s my ideal tenkara length! Thanks for tuning in! 🥹
I love to fly fish here in Northern Utah. I am just average at it but would love to get better. I love the videos. If you ever need someone to go fishing with, I am always down and know one or two other people that love it as well.
“Non traditional” (for you) for sure! Like you I’m not a fan of fishing a line longer than I can net the fish. That length even gets a little shorter when you are sitting IN the water huh? My hand lining skills always look like a train wreck! Kinda like me trying to do ballet! 🩰Fun video. Keep em coming! Neil.
Not my type of fishing (peraps i've already tenkara fished from a kayak for many years) but for the sake of science i would tottaly give it a try. Thanks for sharing 🙏

@skiddyfishing haha! Man, it looked chilly in that water! 🥶🥶🥶
Hell yeah! Looks like a hoot
Thanks for tuning in friend!

I am excited to fish this and the TN Provo right on the Provo in weeks to come! Thanks for tuning in!

Good info Skiddy. Nice looking pole. Nice catches on it. With my short arms that would be a workout to land a fish.
It was certainly unique even with my long arms but totally in a fun way!

Pretty sweet footage man. I just got a wasatch rod - and they recommend your channel. Doesn’t disappoint
I love my Wasatch family! They are great people and I have some upcoming content with their line. Which model did you pick up? So glad you enjoyed! 🥲
Also, I’m local here in SLC, maybe we’ll have to exchange some spots - I’ve got some “secret” ones that would make for some great content

@@WrecKeyDuhLaw thanks for the support friend! I am sure we can work something out and fish sometime.

Haha I suppose the ballet makes us better! But yeah I am an even line with the rod or maybe a foot shorter kind of guy. Thanks for the support! :)
i’ve used 1 weight maxcatch fly line with this rod to great effect (100 feet or whatever for $9 on amazon!)
I’ll take a look at it! 😌

The child in me said "that's what she said" probably 37 times by 1:30.
