Greed remembered his defeat and cover up his neck just in time, Ling knew that he wasn't a match to Wrath and grasped the opportunity to escape (which he did but Greed didn't do in the past). If they weren't together, they would be dead in this battle. This scene really focuses on them and enforces their bond.

Having it on at all times would probably deplete his stone faster. He also told Edward that he doesn’t like to cover his face with the shield because he feels it makes him look ugly. I noticed in the show that he rarely lets people see him with it on. I think it’s because Greed really wants to be perceived as human by others.

I like how those positions remained from the 2003 fma. Wrath was the youngest and pride looked the oldest. Funny enough fmab's wrath couldve still been pride as he does have streaks of it in his personality.
I like how Pride readied his shadow when Greeling was there because he knows that Wrath is a human based Homunculus and can't regenerate so it's seems logical to put a Homunculus that is powerful enough to defend Wrath.

Okay, so I know I'm way too late to this anime, but I haven't seen anyone else point this out, so I will At 1:32, Greed tries to run for the window, but Wrath throws his sword to stop him. This is just like what he did to Ling when he was fighting him (when he tried to run for to doorway but Wrath threw his sword and blocked his exit) but this time, Greed is actually a bit faster than the sword and it embeds into the wall after he passes it. I don't know if I'm right or not (I'm just another fan obsessed with GreedLing), but i thought that small little detail that almost contrasts between Ling and Greed was really cool.
I don't think he was considering the window at that point in time. I think after Bradley almost chopped off his head he remembered how big of an L he took the last time and even how Ling fighting Bradley turned out, and decided to ditch the fight.
One thing I like about this particular fight is how this is the only time Bradley gets disarmed during a fight, however briefly... and doesn't slow down. It's a small but important detail, that Bradley did have martial training *other* than swordsmanship.
Frank Einstein I think he means that his disposition is of a wise warrior, capable of following the virtues of Bushido despite his intentions as a homonculus. I can see it. Bradley reminds me of what I'd imagine in a shogun sans the corruption.
2003's Bradley only had that one fight with Mustang really to his name, and I always quite enjoyed the very methodical, sinister way the whole thing went down. But Wrath Bradley completely blows him out of the water.
the thing i love about this anime is despite wrath and pride being bad guys you still root for them no matter who their going against and I love how innocent pride acts the entire vid like one of the most powerful humunculis actually acts like a regular kid... astounding worksmanship
Take note: individually, ling and greed couldn’t stand against Bradley on their own, but together they have a fighting chance and Bradley knows it since his fight with greed is different hence the flashback 1:55
Actually Ling could very well stand his ground He did go against Bradley while carrying someone on his back which resulted in him using 1 hand to fight AND it was against Bradley and Gluttony
Now that you mention it. I don't remember him dying either. I'd say that maybe because he's a human based homunculus like Wrath and because of plot importance, he can't afford to die. However, he did get hurt in his final battle with Bradley and was able to regenerate the cut. Ling's agility and speed plus Greed's shield makes him pretty OP. It's already difficult to scratch him let alone kill him.
What's terrifying about Wrath is his fighting style. The moment Greed gets distracted, he immediately attacks him relentlessly. His speed and precision overwhelm Greed so much that he just abandoned his plan right away.
His fight style is about versatility and shocking effect, he is not only swinging a sword, he throws it, he's thrusting with it and in general his movements are not like the jedi, they're taking a long leaps from place to place, and bradley is just going like a machine with speed of a flash.
One of the more underrated fights of the series. Wrath vs Scar, Greed vs Bradley here, Alphonse and Hienkal vs Kimblee and Pride, Scar, Marcoh, and the Chimeras vs Envy, Bradley vs Everyone in the military to get his palace back, Mustang and Jean vs Lust, and Ed vs Greed 2003 are some of my favorites in the series. I also like Mustang vs Pride 2003 and Mustang destroying Envy but those are more beat downs than anything else.
As greedy as he was, he died protecting others without really wanting something in exchange, because from the bottom of his heart, what he valued the most was the friends he made.
Man FMA brotherhood is a prime example of an amazing performance of english dub. The original dub was still good tho ofc, but the dialogue in this scene was much more chilling in English than Japanese, which is rare for me. I know it’s been a years but still, good job to the FMA voice actors
Oh yeah, Troy Baker and Ed Baylock did a PHENOMENAL job in this scene (all of the VAs truly went all out, with Todd Haberkorn as Ling and Jason Douglas as Major Miles as some of my favorite performances in the entire dub). Troy's voice really sold me on how unsettled and emotional Greed was in the moment, while Baylock did a great job portraying Bradley's cold disgust for Greed and his avarice. There's a reason this is probably one of the most re-watched animes of all time.
For people who say they like the sub better, I totally feel ya. For one thing, I think that Ed's voice in the sub suits him much better than the dubbed version- Paku Romi's voice gives Ed a louder, more blunt way of speaking, while Vic Mignogna's voice sounded too smooth in my opinion. I'm not sure which version "portrays emotions better", but the sub just matched my interpretations of the characters perfectly, despite me having watched the dub for all of FMA and half of FMAB. I'm not saying the dub is bad- far from it. Funimation usually does a really good job at dubbing, and FMA/B is no exception. But if you've never tried the sub, I highly recommend it.
sacchiri I found nothing wrong with Vic Mignogna's delivery in emotional scenes, but I still prefer Romi Paku as Edward because she actually had me completely convinced for awhile that it was a 15 year old boy voicing him. Vic's voice just sounded exactly like what it was - a grown man trying to do a child's voice, high pitched and unnatural. Granted once you know it's Romi and listen more closely you can also tell after awhile that it's a woman trying to do a boy's voice, but I still feel overall that she had the better Edward voice. Vic fit more in other roles he did, like Spirit from Soul Eater. Aside from that, the rest of the Japanese voice cast for FMA fit the characters better than the English cast imo. The dub was good, just... the sub is more fitting.

Oneish I've seen videos of Vic at Comic Cons and such and when he speaks normally he doesn't really sound like Ed - or at least, it's a more soft-spoken version of Ed's voice. For example in one where he pretends to propose to Winry in Ed's voice, he made his voice noticeably higher and squeaky in comparison to when he was talking normally. I'm not trying to make fun of Vic's own voice, and I'm sorry if that's how it seemed.
I never understood why Greed, while KNOWING what Wrath was capable of, refrained from going full ultimate shield when fighting him, thus opening himself up to cuts and making the fights harder for himself.
They stopped the ultimate shield thing cus money. Also cus I think they made an in universe explanation for it. It had something to do with messes up Greed's pretty face and I think him not used to going full shield during battle.
Greed HATES using his shield unless he absolutely has to. He and Ling are shown to be extremely self-conscious about how they look (in the manga at least)
Makes you wonder if greed remembers his neck being pierced and if ling synced up with him to activate his defense in response to that memory since ling is such a skilled fighter
I wish Wrath could regenerate. Evil would win but we would have the ultimate badass of history. I mean, even without this ability his awesomeness already burns my eyes. Even if he's overpowered and even if it's only because the plot demands it, it feels just unfair seeing him bleed for the first time. Even dumbasses like Gluttony and Sloth could survive that 50 times.

2 year later response but I think the only reason Wrath is so powerful is because he fights like there is not tomorrow. Basically knowing he can die or be injured permanently he trains himself to be super human unlike the other homunculus who tank attacks because they know they are immortal.
Ivy Green wrath is absoletely my fav homunculus and my fav overall character in the series,he is an absolute badass that doesn't even need regenaration i mean if had regeneration and was the same as he was in the series ,well amestris would be fucked no one would able to kill him i mean this guy is an excellent swordsman,super fast for a guy in his 60's(2nd fasted homunculus behind sloth ,but better since sloth cannot control where he can go,while bradley can),and also has the ultimate eye which when uncovered makes him even more deadly than before ,that's why i believe he is the strongest overall fighter out of the homunculus and 2nd in the series behind father obviously .
Equivalent exchange, wrath's is probably the second most powerful homunculus after Pride, but both have massive weaknesses- pride can't use his powers in total darkness or after a flash bomb, and Wrath can't heal.

He could probably swing the lightsaber so fast, it would fail to cut through something
His fight style is about versatility and shocking effect, he is not only swinging a sword, he throws it, he's thrusting with it and in general his movements are not like the jedi, they're taking a long leaps from place to place, and bradley is just going like a machine with speed of a flash.

One of the more underrated fights of the series.
Wrath vs Scar, Greed vs Bradley here, Alphonse and Hienkal vs Kimblee and Pride, Scar, Marcoh, and the Chimeras vs Envy, Bradley vs Everyone in the military to get his palace back, Mustang and Jean vs Lust, and Ed vs Greed 2003 are some of my favorites in the series.
I also like Mustang vs Pride 2003 and Mustang destroying Envy but those are more beat downs than anything else.

He said stuff, not friends. In the end it isn't friendship or grief that enrages him but greed over what he has.
As greedy as he was, he died protecting others without really wanting something in exchange, because from the bottom of his heart, what he valued the most was the friends he made.
At this point he was still in denial about his desire for friends. So, he did mean his lost chimera friends, not just stuff

Man FMA brotherhood is a prime example of an amazing performance of english dub. The original dub was still good tho ofc, but the dialogue in this scene was much more chilling in English than Japanese, which is
rare for me. I know it’s been a years but still, good job to the FMA voice actors
Oh yeah, Troy Baker and Ed Baylock did a PHENOMENAL job in this scene (all of the VAs truly went all out, with Todd Haberkorn as Ling and Jason Douglas as Major Miles as some of my favorite performances in the entire dub). Troy's voice really sold me on how unsettled and emotional Greed was in the moment, while Baylock did a great job portraying Bradley's cold disgust for Greed and his avarice. There's a reason this is probably one of the most re-watched animes of all time.

For people who say they like the sub better, I totally feel ya. For one thing, I think that Ed's voice in the sub suits him much better than the dubbed version- Paku Romi's voice gives Ed a louder, more blunt way of speaking, while Vic Mignogna's voice sounded too smooth in my opinion. I'm not sure which version "portrays emotions better", but the sub just matched my interpretations of the characters perfectly, despite me having watched the dub for all of FMA and half of FMAB.
I'm not saying the dub is bad- far from it. Funimation usually does a really good job at dubbing, and FMA/B is no exception. But if you've never tried the sub, I highly recommend it.
I watch the dub for Wrath's voice, so chilling.
Interesting, I've always liked the dub because Vic Mignogna makes Edward sound so sexy. LOL ;)
sacchiri I found nothing wrong with Vic Mignogna's delivery in emotional scenes, but I still prefer Romi Paku as Edward because she actually had me completely convinced for awhile that it was a 15 year old boy voicing him. Vic's voice just sounded exactly like what it was - a grown man trying to do a child's voice, high pitched and unnatural. Granted once you know it's Romi and listen more closely you can also tell after awhile that it's a woman trying to do a boy's voice, but I still feel overall that she had the better Edward voice. Vic fit more in other roles he did, like Spirit from Soul Eater. Aside from that, the rest of the Japanese voice cast for FMA fit the characters better than the English cast imo. The dub was good, just... the sub is more fitting.

Oneish I've seen videos of Vic at Comic Cons and such and when he speaks normally he doesn't really sound like Ed - or at least, it's a more soft-spoken version of Ed's voice. For example in one where he pretends to propose to Winry in Ed's voice, he made his voice noticeably higher and squeaky in comparison to when he was talking normally. I'm not trying to make fun of Vic's own voice, and I'm sorry if that's how it seemed.

I never understood why Greed, while KNOWING what Wrath was capable of, refrained from going full ultimate shield when fighting him, thus opening himself up to cuts and making the fights harder for himself.
They stopped the ultimate shield thing cus money. Also cus I think they made an in universe explanation for it. It had something to do with messes up Greed's pretty face and I think him not used to going full shield during battle.
Greed HATES using his shield unless he absolutely has to. He and Ling are shown to be extremely self-conscious about how they look (in the manga at least)

I think King Bradley is one of the best villains i've seen in Anime (& i have seen a lot)....and the awesome part that he wasn't even the main villain

I wish Wrath could regenerate. Evil would win but we would have the ultimate badass of history. I mean, even without this ability his awesomeness already burns my eyes. Even if he's overpowered and even if it's only because the plot demands it, it feels just unfair seeing him bleed for the first time. Even dumbasses like Gluttony and Sloth could survive that 50 times.

He hasn't any regeneration powers, but remember, this guy managed to make a fucking tank flee from him just in seconds. he sliced trough bullets and heavy tank ammo. If he had healing powers, really no one could've killed him for the time being. ^^
2 year later response but I think the only reason Wrath is so powerful is because he fights like there is not tomorrow. Basically knowing he can die or be injured permanently he trains himself to be super human unlike the other homunculus who tank attacks because they know they are immortal.
Ivy Green wrath is absoletely my fav homunculus and my fav overall character in the series,he is an absolute badass that doesn't even need regenaration i mean if had regeneration and was the same as he was in the series ,well amestris would be fucked no one would able to kill him i mean this guy is an excellent swordsman,super fast for a guy in his 60's(2nd fasted homunculus behind sloth ,but better since sloth cannot control where he can go,while bradley can),and also has the ultimate eye which when uncovered makes him even more deadly than before ,that's why i believe he is the strongest overall fighter out of the homunculus and 2nd in the series behind father obviously .
Equivalent exchange, wrath's is probably the second most powerful homunculus after Pride, but both have massive weaknesses- pride can't use his powers in total darkness or after a flash bomb, and Wrath can't heal.
