I met Craig when he was gigging with Vinny Peculiar I think. Lovely bloke, bought me a pint. I mentioned Ask, and to his credit he was really polite about the song. Considering he claims to have composed the basic chord progression. Whatever the truth, down to earth bloke. Cheers for the videos btw
Yes I met him a few times but he was a friend of a friend and I can’t claim to have known him properly. Yes I agree he always came over as down to earth and unassuming and he’s got a great cv when you look who he’s played with. Thanks @pcalf101 and glad you’re enjoying the videos, I appreciate your support 🙏🤓🎸
@@GuitarGary. Yup sound bloke. Mike Joyce was gigging too btw. I ended up having to buy him a pint. Enough said. But he was funny and friendly enough too. I didn't mention the court case, which was fairly fresh at the time. I just kept asking him about top of the pops for some reason. Ah well
@@GuitarGary. Well said Gary. Yea good time though. Time marches on as they say. I think I need to listen some melancholic and melodic songs. If only there was a band that could help.. cheers pal
Amazing lessons! Thank you very much! I just miss some videos showing you playing the full song with your guitar over the original record. Please do it! Cheers from Rio!
Thanks so much I’ll take that on board. Sometimes there’s copyright problems with using the original records and so that’s why I don’t do it. Glad you found my channel and thanks for your support 🙏🤓🎸
I was just watching it back and I forgot to mention that after each verse when the lyrics go to “Ask me ask me ask me” - you are just playing a strummed G once and then two quick strums on C before going back to G - it’s the same as the very start of the live version if that makes sense but let me know if anything’s not clear and tell me what you think when you’ve tried it. 👍
really appreciate the work that's gone in and would like to put a 'simpler' version of this down. For the 'break' bit is it e-D-CC, e-D-CC (strummed second time). Just wanted to clarify the point. Thanks - and a fantastic walkthrough.
Thanks Gary, it’s always a balance when there’s so many layers of guitar isn’t it. I have a Smiths songbook / tab and some of it is wrong in my opinion on certain songs. I just have a Boss RC3 but they’ve come on a lot since! Thanks for supporting my channel 🙏🤓🎸
I was at that Salford Uni gig and the Free Trade Hall a couple of months later.
This is my favorite smiths song, thanks for doing this one
Yes it’s a great song isn’t it, one of my favourites too, thanks Sneakysnakesullytv 🤓🙏🎸

I have the sheet music to this one your version is a lot better i think i will have to invest in a loop station to get the best effect
