No Way Home matches it only because of the crazy comeback things that happened, the plot of NWH is nearly weak, main Peter Parker is the only one who has a character development and the soundtracks are basic

Ashley Tuchin I know right. Especially when the video compared it to Josh Trank’s response to the studio screwing him over. Really shows the difference between a humble director who respects the source material, and a self center director who only cares about his own ideas.
Raimi did not deserve the hate he got for Spider-Man 3. He handled Sandman, Harry, and venoms influence perfectly. If he had saved Venom/Eddie as a villain for the next movie, it could have been perfect. Harry is proof that a story spanning multiple movies is very effective. This idea of characters evolving and a sub-plot building over an multiple movies paved the way for the MCU.
Raimi has been brought on to direct the next Dr. Strange movie so he's at least Spiderman adjacent. We'll see where they go with this whole multiverse malarkey.
Agreed, the "villain overload" makes Peter feel like he's spread too thin from all the enemies he's making, after Spiderman 2s internal battle ended with him deciding to fully devote himself to being a hero, 3 is sort of "is one hero enough" Actually gives stakes to Harry's change of heart too. Raimi SAVED spider-man 3. Look at how messy the Amazing Spider-man films turned out under the exact same pressure from sony and avi arad. its amazing how cohesive spider-man 3 is despite what Raimi was dealing with. I love the movie and he’s a class act.

Amazing 1 was alright but it was a facsimile which Marvel managed to avoid (instead making Spider-Man dependent on Iron Man which kind of ruined the whole idea of him being a solo hero but never mind) but Amazing 2 was a complete mess by the end. He latches onto a fellow Avengers member in each movie, which makes sense as he is the youngest and least experienced Avenger. I get that it may be a little more interesting if he were completely solo, and I agree with that, but I feel like there is a method to what they are doing.

As a kid in 2007 I thought Spiderman 3 was excellent, looking back as an adult I can definitely see why it would've confused and maybe upset the wider audience but at the same time I still really do enjoy the third installment to this day from both nostalgia and a part of me that still loves that bad ass black suit.

Everytime I think about Spider-Man 4. My heart hurts even more. I remember myself being so hyped for the Lizard and Carnage to show up. I actually loved all the Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies.

Haven't seen the newest reboot, but the old movies are actually good. The middle reboot, not so much. Just make sure your kids see the best movies first.

when i saw this movie as a kid i had no idea who venom was, so i had nothing to be let down about, so, i adored venom in this movie, i thought a dark reflection of spider-man was awesome, and the monstrous look of venom had me enthralled, and the emo peter parts were just hilarious to me. definitely my favourite out of the trilogy

I find it very interesting that Sam Raimi didn't attempt to deflect blame entirely by saying the production shouldn't have forced Venom into his script. Although he alludes to it as an issue, his still takes responsibility for his part in it. I think a heck of a lot more of him for that.

With the MCU having a Spider-Man and Sony's Venom, this movie, if it even would be made, would have to be made after The Venom Trilogy (it'll probably be a trilogy, with Carnage being the villian of 2 and all the colored symbiotes being the villian of 3) and after Phase 5 of the MCU which will probably be the last. By them, Tobey will be to old to play him. It won't happen.
I remember sitting around with my friends and fantasizing about what we would see in the 4th movie. Most of us thought we would see Carnage from the 1994 cartoon on the big screen, since our assumption was based on the idea that if they introduced Venom, the next antagonist was going to be Carnage, which made sense in those days. We discussed all sorts of possibilities, like more violence and blood and stuff, considering that Carnage had weapons that could cut off body parts. Unfortunately, that movie was canceled, and at that point I didn't even know about it due to lack of information, so we kept discussing our ideal movie until someone said, "Don't you know that the movie has been canceled?" When we heard this news, I was devastated because it felt like something precious had been taken from me. A few years later it turned out they were going to reboot the movies, so that last hope was lost. Boy do I miss the good old days when we used to predict the plots of upcoming movies and bet on it.

Even after being forced to put a character he didn’t understand into his movie, he still managed to create a fluent and well woven story. I’m the kind of person to overlook a movies flaws if it’s worth doing so. Spider-Man 3 was a great movie! :D
If they didn’t force him into putting venom and just allowed him to make Spider-Man 3 in his own vision. And giving him time to bring venom into Spider-Man 4, thus giving him time to study venom and understanding the character more the whole reboot would’ve probably never happened :/

Brandon Wood true but Sam raimi really wanted to make this the best Spider-Man movie ever which implies he didn’t give it his 110% on the previous movies. He probably would have put a lot more effort into this film in terms of writing and getting Spider-Man right. Plus, the quips Spider-Man made in Spider-Man 3 were pretty good.
In some alternate universe, raimi got to do his movies as he wished and the series continued well into the 2010s. Finally, Toby's Spidey would join the cast of civil war, having the greatest cinematic crossover ever and landing the film above 2 billion $
Yaniv Avizrats eh, if you rewatch the movies without nostalgia clogging your eyes, they're a little dated. Tobey's Spider-Man was actually pretty selfish and only helped when he was forced to because it directly affected him. Basically, he was a reactive character instead of a proactive character like Tom is.

Yea I just read about it, whereas I think Spider-Man 3 was great. I don't understand why 3 villains were too much, of course it was for Spidey but Harry swallowed his pride to help his friend and I thought it ended well(not for Harry). I haven't read the comics much so there might be a reason people don't like them but all the Batmans ain't the same either and I dunno why should it be automatically reason for hate. I just watch them as movies of my favourite superheros and Raimi's movies we're by far better IMO. I didn't like Garfield - not sure if it was he's fault - and I definitely didn't like the CGI in second. Somehow for me it looked like they didn't have enough money for the film. Tom Holland seems a good Spider-Man but Tobey just somehow nailed the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" attitude so well(not with the symbiote of course). But it's just my opinion. :)
I know right. It sounds like the perfect casting. I'm not sure though if because of his cameos in the previous movie he would have had to keep the helmet on and just use his voice or they could have gone with mysterio's original back story and made him a struggling actor which would explain the reason he's had so many different jobs around NY throughout the trilogy. That actually could have been a brilliant way to go with it
The Vultress thing is weird to me because I remember reading an interview once where Raimi said that Felicia Hardy would’ve been the Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 and not an entirely new character. Maybe Raimi changed his mind on the Vultress thing or maybe that aspect just got mixed up by her working for him.
I think I can see where Raimi's coming from there, it genuinely doesn't seem to come across as glossing over the studio interference (especially since everybody knows about it anyway). He just narrows his perspective to what was under his control. The director couldn't stop Sony/Arad from inserting Venom into the movie, but he then has control over how he handles that insertion. It's a tall order of course, but a filmmaker like Raimi who clearly holds himself to a very high standard will absorb the blame for failing to spin the situation into gold. Class act, that guy

I don’t think Tom Holland is a bad choice for the character and I don’t think his movie was bad but I just am very sad not seeing Tobey in the role anymore. Wish I could have seen the 4th movie go out with a bang 😔
Raimi was too hard on himself about Spider-Man 3, it really wasn’t his fault. And the movie was not that bad...don’t know why people hate it so much. It’s way better than a lot of other movies.

I'd say 1 and 2 are in that 9/10 range. 3 is a 6 or 7. Average, enjoyable. Not bad. It wasn't amazing, but God damn if I don't watch it with a smile on my face. It's a hilarious film, Raimi is good with comedy, and I loved Sandman. Way better than Amazing 1 or 2 though, those films make me cringe. I prefer 2000s cheese than whatever those films were.
Steve Smith personally if they left Brock getting contaminated by Venom and him being revealed at the end to hint at the 4th movie instead of how they did it, it would’ve been a outstanding movie. Them rushing Venom in with 30 minutes left in the movie was a bad idea, but Raimi was forced to by the studio.

I think people hate it cause it introduced and killed off Spider-Mans greatest enemy Venom in the span of an hour. Comic book fans were pissed. Without Venom, I think the movie would not have been shit on by fans but they would consider it the least greatest of the trilogy.
I love the trilogy. I love how in each movie, Harry character gets more deppresive and is losing his mind over his father death. That's character development, in the other hand venom was rushed. Just think about it, in the trilogy all the characters were on point. As if they were born to play those roles. Like goddam J.K simmons is literally J.J Jameson. And Rosemary looks exactly like aunt May. The small scenes in JJ Jameson's office were hilarious, the receptionist was a nice touch and the fights between Hoffman and Jameson killed me. Even Willen, Alfred and Thomas killed their role. Just amazing. The music is marvelous, it sounds so superheroe like and honest.

For me. What killed that movie was like the ending scenes where Sandman and venom joined together and kidnapped marry jane. On top of the news castings that they had in the movie. It made it super corny for me.
Lets be real, it is kind of both. Sony is obviously going to want a Venom movie, Raimi is the one that overloaded everything by overestimating what he could accomplish. If Raimi had just taken the L and produced a Venom only movie it probably would've been amazing even if he was a little bit lacking on Venom knowledge.
I remember reading *SOMEWHERE that one of the plot lines of Spider-Man 4 would’ve been the Daily Bugle being bought out by Adrian Toomes. I believe Raimi has also stated that Felicia Hardy always would’ve become Black Cat had the movie been made. I don’t know how convincingly fearsome Malkovich would’ve made the Vulture, I think Ben Kingsley would’ve been a much better fit. To hear that Raimi and Jeffrey Henderson thought this would’ve been the best Spidey movie yet makes it even more tragic it got cancelled. Raimi in particular really seemed like he had one more great Spider-Man movie left to make, but for whatever reason, I think Sony were gonna go with their reboot regardless. I remember when I learned that we would not be seeing another Tobey Maguire Spider-Man film, nothing has left me feeling more crushed to this day.
@@williscri Yes sadly despite the fact fans have never given up hope, it probably won’t happen. However, I would not be opposed to Marvel adapting the unmade scripts into comic book form. DC have had a good run recently of continuing the story of Michael Keatons Batman in comic form, why not have more stories for Tobey in comic book form. Garfield could have a similar treatment!

I always thought venom was actually quite well incorporated into the story. Peter Parker’s downfall tied very well into the theme of forgiveness that we saw both in sandman and Harry
It makes more sense without venom though. Eddie Brock isn't meant to be the shadow of Peter in terms of revenge; Harry Osborne is. Sandman caused the death of uncle Ben, and Spider-man caused the death of Normon Osborne (insert butler scene here). Eddie... is angry Peter exposed him as a fraud

It most likely would've been the intro to the movie. Bruce Campbell decides to rob a (insert place here) for (insert reason here), but he's obviously not super in any way. So he decides to make himself seem super as the Mysterio, but when Spider-Man comes, he finds it's all smoke and mirrors and then captures him. That's probably why he's overweight. I swear I've heard this idea before, but I can't remember what it's from.
Mysterio was one of his main villains even a member of the Sinister 6. He also inspired old actor character in Ironman 3 but was called The Terrible Tinkerer, which being old was a disguise and he later called himself Mysterio. Mysterio with The Wizard took on Spider-Man and The Human Torch.
Mysterio was gonna be villain of spiderman 4, if you see all his cameos in the 3 movies, he gives hints. Especially in spiderman 2 when he says, “that’s part of the illusion” or something like that

Sony messing with Raimi is juste unbelievable to me.... The guy made two of the best super-hero movies of all-time and they kept trying to screw everything and interfere with his vision x) Spider-Man 3 is the weakest, but far more superior to 90% of today's blockbusters, with some great directing, I would have lovedto see this Spider-Man 4, a true conclusion to Sam Raimi's Spiderman franchise
Like Sam himself said, he didn't want to include Venom at all, and Harry was still a developing character. Sandman was to be the focus, and it shows with the final product. The only bad part about the sandman plot was the lazy connection between him and Spiderman. He killed Uncle Ben? Give me a break. Not sure if I'd blame Sam for that move, or if the studio meddling to include Venom made the Sandman plot suffer. But after that story line, everything else is way too over the top, out of character, too far in the cheesy direction, and sadly poorly acted. It's a disaster of studio involvement.

I think the only ones who truly put the 3rd that high up were those who were young enough upon it's release for the movie to make it's impact. Any of those who grew up with the franchise from the 1st movie on would argue otherwise.
Vultress was a rumour by the media. Several people involved in the film, namely Sam Raimi, confirmed no such character existed and Felicia was always meant to be Black Cat.
I remember when I was about 6 or 7 I got to meet the stunt double on the set of Spider-Man 3. My uncle was part of the crew for the film so I went to Central Park for that celebration/parade scene and the part with Peter and Mary Jane on the bridge. I got my picture taken with the double in full costume and to this day it’s just so cool to me that I got to meet the closest thing to the real spidey in person.
C'mon do you really think the younger audiences 8-15 year olds that was the DESIRED AUDIENCE for the film would look at spiderman 3 and say "The script seemed sloppy and the character development wasn't cohesive, the pacing blah blah" FCK WHEN I SAW THIS AS A KID I SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS IN THE THEATER WHEN I SAW HIM FIGHT MUTIPLE VILLAINS. It was an awesome experience for me and my thoughts haven't changed. Movies shouldn't make what critics want.. They should make what fans want. As a kid in 2007 I thought Spiderman 3 was excellent, looking back as an adult I can definitely see why it would've confused and maybe upset the wider audience but at the same time I still really do enjoy the third installment to this day from both nostalgia and a part of me that still loves that bad ass black suit.

I find it very interesting that Sam Raimi didn't attempt to deflect blame entirely by saying the production shouldn't have forced Venom into his script. Although he alludes to it as an issue, his still takes responsibility for his part in it. I think a heck of a lot more of him for that.

With the MCU having a Spider-Man and Sony's Venom, this movie, if it even would be made, would have to be made after The Venom Trilogy (it'll probably be a trilogy, with Carnage being the villian of 2 and all the colored symbiotes being the villian of 3) and after Phase 5 of the MCU which will probably be the last. By them, Tobey will be to old to play him. It won't happen.

I remember sitting around with my friends and fantasizing about what we would see in the 4th movie. Most of us thought we would see Carnage from the 1994 cartoon on the big screen, since our assumption was based on the idea that if they introduced Venom, the next antagonist was going to be Carnage, which made sense in those days. We discussed all sorts of possibilities, like more violence and blood and stuff, considering that Carnage had weapons that could cut off body parts. Unfortunately, that movie was canceled, and at that point I didn't even know about it due to lack of information, so we kept discussing our ideal movie until someone said, "Don't you know that the movie has been canceled?" When we heard this news, I was devastated because it felt like something precious had been taken from me. A few years later it turned out they were going to reboot the movies, so that last hope was lost. Boy do I miss the good old days when we used to predict the plots of upcoming movies and bet on it.

Tobey's Spider-Man was actually pretty selfish and only helped when he was forced to because it directly affected him. Yea I just read about it, whereas I think Spider-Man 3 was great. Tom Holland seems a good Spider-Man but Tobey just somehow nailed the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" attitude so well(not with the symbiote of course). But it's just my opinion. :)

I'm not sure though if because of his cameos in the previous movie he would have had to keep the helmet on and just use his voice or they could have gone with mysterio's original back story and made him a struggling actor which would explain the reason he's had so many different jobs around NY throughout the trilogy. The Vultress thing is weird to me because I remember reading an interview once where Raimi said that Felicia Hardy would’ve been the Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 and not an entirely new character. Maybe Raimi changed his mind on the Vultress thing or maybe that aspect just got mixed up by her working for him.

While i love Raimi's honesty, Sony is the one to blame.
I think I can see where Raimi's coming from there, it genuinely doesn't seem to come across as glossing over the studio interference (especially since everybody knows about it anyway). He just narrows his perspective to what was under his control. The director couldn't stop Sony/Arad from inserting Venom into the movie, but he then has control over how he handles that insertion. It's a tall order of course, but a filmmaker like Raimi who clearly holds himself to a very high standard will absorb the blame for failing to spin the situation into gold. Class act, that guy

It’s so hard for me to like the new Spider-Man when my whole childhood was Sam Raimi’s trilogy. I don’t think Tom Holland is a bad choice for the character and I don’t think his movie was bad but I just am very sad not seeing Tobey in the role anymore. Wish I could have seen the 4th movie go out with a bang 😔

Raimi was too hard on himself about Spider-Man 3, it really wasn’t his fault. And the movie was not that bad...don’t know why people hate it so much. It’s way better than a lot of other movies.

It wasn't amazing, but God damn if I don't watch it with a smile on my face. It's a hilarious film, Raimi is good with comedy, and I loved Sandman. Way better than Amazing 1 or 2 though, those films make me cringe. I prefer 2000s cheese than whatever those films were.
Steve Smith personally if they left Brock getting contaminated by Venom and him being revealed at the end to hint at the 4th movie instead of how they did it, it would’ve been a outstanding movie. Them rushing Venom in with 30 minutes left in the movie was a bad idea, but Raimi was forced to by the studio.
Anime Deamon I agree. The movie was great in my opinion. Really a huge part of my childhood and I can’t help but smile every time I watch 3 and just the whole trilogy.
I think people hate it cause it introduced and killed off Spider-Mans greatest enemy Venom in the span of an hour. Comic book fans were pissed. Without Venom, I think the movie would not have been shit on by fans but they would consider it the least greatest of the trilogy.
I love the trilogy. I love how in each movie, Harry character gets more deppresive and is losing his mind over his father death. That's character development, in the other hand venom was rushed.
Just think about it, in the trilogy all the characters were on point. As if they were born to play those roles. Like goddam J.K simmons is literally J.J Jameson. And Rosemary looks exactly like aunt May.
The small scenes in JJ Jameson's office were hilarious, the receptionist was a nice touch and the fights between Hoffman and Jameson killed me. Even Willen, Alfred and Thomas killed their role. Just amazing.
The music is marvelous, it sounds so superheroe like and honest.

For me. What killed that movie was like the ending scenes where Sandman and venom joined together and kidnapped marry jane. On top of the news castings that they had in the movie. It made it super corny for me.

Lets be real, it is kind of both. Sony is obviously going to want a Venom movie, Raimi is the one that overloaded everything by overestimating what he could accomplish. If Raimi had just taken the L and produced a Venom only movie it probably would've been amazing even if he was a little bit lacking on Venom knowledge.
I remember reading *SOMEWHERE that one of the plot lines of Spider-Man 4 would’ve been the Daily Bugle being bought out by Adrian Toomes. I believe Raimi has also stated that Felicia Hardy always would’ve become Black Cat had the movie been made. I don’t know how convincingly fearsome Malkovich would’ve made the Vulture, I think Ben Kingsley would’ve been a much better fit. To hear that Raimi and Jeffrey Henderson thought this would’ve been the best Spidey movie yet makes it even more tragic it got cancelled. Raimi in particular really seemed like he had one more great Spider-Man movie left to make, but for whatever reason, I think Sony were gonna go with their reboot regardless. I remember when I learned that we would not be seeing another Tobey Maguire Spider-Man film, nothing has left me feeling more crushed to this day.
My dad is trying to get my hopes up, telling me THERE WILL be a Spider-Man 4, but everyone knows thats a lie.

DC have had a good run recently of continuing the story of Michael Keatons Batman in comic form, why not have more stories for Tobey in comic book form. Garfield could have a similar treatment!

It most likely would've been the intro to the movie. Bruce Campbell decides to rob a (insert place here) for (insert reason here), but he's obviously not super in any way. So he decides to make himself seem super as the Mysterio, but when Spider-Man comes, he finds it's all smoke and mirrors and then captures him. That's probably why he's overweight.

Mysterio was one of his main villains even a member of the Sinister 6. He also inspired old actor character in Ironman 3 but was called The Terrible Tinkerer, which being old was a disguise and he later called himself Mysterio. Mysterio with The Wizard took on Spider-Man and The Human Torch.
Well when mysterio's identity got revealed in far from home, everything got pretty much boring to me.
Mysterio was gonna be villain of spiderman 4, if you see all his cameos in the 3 movies, he gives hints. Especially in spiderman 2 when he says, “that’s part of the illusion” or something like that

Like Sam himself said, he didn't want to include Venom at all, and Harry was still a developing character. Sandman was to be the focus, and it shows with the final product. The only bad part about the sandman plot was the lazy connection between him and Spiderman. He killed Uncle Ben? Give me a break. Not sure if I'd blame Sam for that move, or if the studio meddling to include Venom made the Sandman plot suffer. But after that story line, everything else is way too over the top, out of character, too far in the cheesy direction, and sadly poorly acted. It's a disaster of studio involvement.

I remember when I was about 6 or 7 I got to meet the stunt double on the set of Spider-Man 3. My uncle was part of the crew for the film so I went to Central Park for that celebration/parade scene and the part with Peter and Mary Jane on the bridge. I got my picture taken with the double in full costume and to this day it’s just so cool to me that I got to meet the closest thing to the real spidey in person.

C'mon do you really think the younger audiences 8-15 year olds that was the DESIRED AUDIENCE for the film would look at spiderman 3 and say "The script seemed sloppy and the character development wasn't cohesive, the pacing blah blah" FCK WHEN I SAW THIS AS A KID I SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS IN THE THEATER WHEN I SAW HIM FIGHT MUTIPLE VILLAINS. It was an awesome experience for me and my thoughts haven't changed. Movies shouldn't make what critics want.. They should make what fans want.
