Bought two packs from Hooked up tackle. Me and my son went fishing on the Susquehanna and caught 25 the best 5 weighed Right at 14 lbs biggest was 3.96 lbs got home and order 7 more packs . I was using a St croix avid 7.2medium great lure
If you watch some of the videos from the guys at The Hookup Tackle, it's actually designed to be fished as a JIG. But it works as an amazing underspin as well.. It's just an all around AMAZING bait!!
Matt the hook up tackle got those in about a year ago. It’s an amazing little underspin. I fished it all last winter just slow rolling it down on the bottom and caught a pile of bass. This summer I wrecked them with it. I started out with a medium action and had trouble hooking up. I switched to the megabass dark sleeper which is a medium heavy and that solved my hook to land ratio. Great little bait
Thanks for this video. I’ve been looking at these and have had them in my cart a few times but never pulled the trigger. It’s looking like I’m becoming a picasso, Raid, core tackle angler. Raid has some phenomenal baits to be used on Picasso and core tackle rigs/ jigs. Ive been experimenting with raid because they stand out even more than my go to zman and BBB baits. So far been great, I’m still catching a nice average of fish when most are going a few days in a row with zero. Thanks again
This is a great bait. Throws great on spinning and bait caster. Tried several rods, my best ratio for hooks ups Ultra lite with a 1300ss Diawa reel. Retrieve various speeds , works any retrieve. Self thread body is convenient. My only complaint is no replacement. bodies. That body is detailed and soft. I tried ketech small swimmer, just not the same. Thanks for giving this secret away, been using all summer.
🍺There are quite a few decent under spins on the market. (Cool baits, Owner, Dirty jigs) etc. Berkley, and Picasso also have decent ones for noticeable less money, but for me it’s hands down the Gamakatsu underspin with the screw on keeper. I can change the blades, color, and type of blade with ease. I also highly recommend adding a “stinger hook” to the inside cup of your blade when ever you are fishing an under spin and removing the weed guards unless their needed. You potentially may have caught those fish that were likely hitting your blade with the added stinger hook🤠.
🍺Visually at first glance the body of it reminded me of the Berkley power switch but this bait obviously has a small under spin attached to it and a weed guard.🤠
In addition to the action of the tail, I have found that the secondary action of body roll is critical when using any kind of swim bait whether its an under spin or just on a straight head or TUSH rig. Any swim bait that doesn’t have that secondary action ends up in the trash … or I give it to my buddy … lol
Raid has a lot of cool baits. They just dropped a new football jig called the foot master. It reminds me a lot of the keitech tungsten football jig with a bushy skirt and different position of the line tie. I can't wait to try it.
Another bait I have to get now. About to put an order in on TW. Using your code. Caught my PB 5lbs 6oz on a 3” pitboss like you recommended. Your info is awesome.
I've been a fan of the Cool baits Down-under spin for years now- I slow roll it on bottom letting the blade hit the rocks. When you start feeling the blade tink off the rocks- you know to hold on- that's when they bite. Anyway- this looks like it would do an even better job maybe- I'm definitely going to try it. It's not cheap but- neither is the Cool Baits- at all. They're like 7 bucks a pop. Idk why they're so expensive but so far- I haven't really found anything cheaper that works. The Picasso Single Barrel works great- costs about the same. It has a heavier wire hook on it- but it's still the right size for a 2.8- I use it in open water when I think the big ones might be about. But this looks very interesting- I like that flat, keeled design on the head and I really like how short and chubby it is. Thanks for the heads up.
I used these on St. Clair and they caught me bunch of nice smallmouth, largemouth and a couple of pike. It’s has been a nice little underspin. I might head to Champlain tomorrow and definitely going to toss them. If I go I will certainly provide an update if the winds will be forgiving.
@@MattStefanFishing well the bite today was not promising as I had hoped for numbers wise. Though I did land a 3.8# smallie on the Libero. A couple on your former guppyhead and few on a blade. Winds were blowing hard !!! I felt like I was on deadliest catch
He would love it! It's like a chatterbait and spinnerbait had a baby swimjig/buzzbait! Burned or slowrolled it's amazing definitely need to try it! Grass puzzle piece.
The weed guard was causing you to skin hook them in the beginning, I also wonder if you widened the gap on the hook point ever so slightly buy 1 degree. Sometimes a longer medium action can provide extra snap and penetration force without sacrificing the medium action. An extended range of motion also increases the range of your hook sets with maximum leverage.
Talking about fishing, cold, water and hook penetrations. I have heard before that a fishes, mouth or flesh in the mouth becomes harder in the cold water. This kind of makes sense if you think about materials, contracting, and expanding with heat and cold. So I wonder if it takes more force to drive a hook point through a fish’s mouth in the winter versus the summer. Thoughts?
Thanks Matt, neat underspin. Like the keel weight head, it just makes sense to keep the bait at a horizontal plane. Dude those hooksets I expected more from a guy who did so well this year. We will blame the cold. Just messing with ya. Keep up the good work and I expect a banner season next year!
I want some. Especially the 1/4 oz (7 gram) models. I've been catching saltwater fish with the Strike King Trout Magic underspinner, it's good from the pier and under a popping cork in the marsh. Those look even better and the weedlessness (is that a word? 😂) should be great around rocks too. The Trout Magic underspinner is worth trying for bass. And you might like the Redfish Magic spinnerbait because it's like a big Beetle Spin, you can put any jig head on it.
The look is great. The action might just be sub-par bc of upright system/flat bottom. BC of that, you might loose more fish than not on the roof of the mouth. It's basically a Megaass Sleeper or ZMan goby with a blade. I'd go with the Overspin or my variation of said.
Glad to see you using something other than a Berkeley bait. I'm wondering when they will copy and knock this bait off. I've been using those for around 2 yrs they swim awesome and catch fish.
@@MattStefanFishing I know!!! Just giving.you a hard time. I watch a lot of your stuff and it's good content. Thanks for taking the time to put it out.
Would braid be better for that application with the same rod? I use 10 lb braid on 2 different rods, a medium and a medium light. The lighter one isn't good for Texas Eye jigs and hooks buried in plastic but the medium power does just fine. The light one is great for regular jig heads. I don't think light mono or fluorocarbon would be as good at hooking fish with the stuff I use.
Interesting. When will the new Core Tackle Ozark Rig lures become available at Tackle Warehouse? As a military person, I’m eligible for a significant discount. Thank you.

a faster gear ratio also shortens the bow in your line, decreasing the slack in your retrieve.

I have the 7gram, also. It cast a mile on either spin or bait caster rods. The spinner blade is the best for such a small bait.
