I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
What!? Did this man come up with two different ways to fish for bass in two years!?... Outstanding sir! Well done, and keep 'em coming!
Haha! Thanks!
It’s something in the bridgeford beef jerky. That’s what happens if you eat American grown food!
Holy crap I can’t believe you brought back some OG fishing with no technology. I will watch that all day. Let’s bring it back to why we love fishing. Great job Matt let’s make it a regular thing.
Thanks for watching
In the last few years I have taken noticed of how poorly many amateurs and pro’s handle fish and have since unsubscribed from them but you my man, I’d like to commend you for your treatment of each and every fish! 👊🏼🎣
I bought the Ozark Rig as soon as it came out. I bought the red ones when they had them. I tied on a small one with a Berkley Chigger Craw. I was shocked when I flipped it into a lay down. I watched that bait change directions 3 times as it floated down. Then as it cleared the trunk of the tree it backed up under the trunk. And just as quick Mr. Big Mouth couldn’t resist it and I brought him from under that tree. And yes it was hooked right in the top of the mouth. It is now a must have on the deck of my boat 90% of the time.
i love the ozark!
Thanks Matt for sharing the new Ozark Rig with us. Seeing you catch fish is a bonus for believing in how well it works.
You got that right!
Found out the H2O tackle in Edwardsburg MI carries all your jigs, new favorite shop!!
Right on!
I found these in a little tackle shop in Mountain Home,AR. Can’t wait to try these.
youll love them
Great video MAtt. Good to see you on the water. Dig the boat. I will do an Ozark Rig video soon.
Awesome!
This dude is one of the most innovative anglermen out there, his ideas make me go.."oh yeah why didn't I think of that" beautiful paradiox, simple but also complex..
Thanks for the support!
@MattStefanFishing well thanks for all the videos. I don't think people actualy realize how lucky we are, I mean , to get fishing tips and lessons from a real pro at the touch of a button is truly awesome! for your time and sharing your knowledge I'd like to day THANK YOU!
I remember your first videos, kind of quiet and understated. Now the Stefan Storm is brewing up big!
Haha! Thanks!
Those are good fish anywhere in the country, especially in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin guys are going crazy now. The Ozark Rig is a great little invention. Looking forward to what Core Tackle comes up with next.
You dont know anyone that lives in Wisconsin stop acting silly
I found a good lake!
This is now my go to bait. Today I tried Chatterbaits, Crankbaits, Swim Worm, Lipless Crankbait. Broke out the Ozark Rig and started catching. One 7+ and one 5+. Plus another 10 from small to 3 pounds. You guys did good. Thank You brothers!!!
Awesome! It will be my primary bait this week on Santee cooper!
Looks like several winners there, new hot spot lake and a great rig to catch some serious northern quality, outstanding video!
Thanks 👍
Greetings from Pewaukee Matt. Have been loving the hover rig. Excited to try this one out as well. You’ve taught me so much about fishing in the northern clear water lakes.
Rock on!
Really like the look of that bait, and lake! Looks like a great Yak lake, and another solid bait from Core Tackle!
Thanks!
Cant wait for mine to arrive!
I'd be willing to pay more for tungsten versions of these... Imagine less mass under the bait, and louder knocks on hard structure...
tungsten will probably be coming as well!
Me too, I'm hoping the Tungsten version comes out by early August 2024, before I head to Canada.
Matt, I love this. I been fishing a bellos gill all summer long on a ewg super line hook. The glide is where it’s at. Just like a fluke, you get bit on the glide. Owner has a swim bait hook with a screw lock and weight that helps that but blows out the face. Can’t wait to try your new hook. Outstanding Job! Loved the new lake
thanks!
The wife calling is almost always good luck. I'm excited about the Ozark rig. I lt just makes alot of sense. As an NW Arkansas native, i love the name too.
Right on
I think I saw a really short 2-minute video that you and Johnny had made about this bait and I immediately jumped on it and ordered a handful of them and can't wait to get them in because I can see how much more efficient you can be with so much incorporated into one bait .. I'm really glad you made this video because I was going to wait until mine got here before I did a really big deep dive on this bait. But just that 2 minute video grabbed my imagination completely and I had to jump on a few as soon as I saw them!! CORE TACKLE is going to do big things there already doing things that no one else has thought about...
Thanks for the support
Where can I get the hook
Can't wait for mine to get here, I watched your video with Jonny, and order them! Thanks Matt
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome new presentation! I will be getting some. Thanks Matt!
Right on!
I love finding these quite little lakes. It's almost like you own the place! I bought some of the 1/8 & 3/16 rigs and I'm thinking they should work well on Bull Shoals & Norfork lakes. Great idea!!
Yep!
The on the water demonstration is great. Your bait is spectacular. I’m sure you will be back with your little fishing buddy. As always I say thank you for the information.
Thanks!
Definitely will be trying this rig out next season. It will fit the way I like to fish perfectly!
Good luck!
Matt, you're my inspiration ! my wife rides her horse today and I go fishing !!!
Love it
That’s sweet y’all just keep the innovation coming 🎉
Thanks!
Seriously talk about back to back game changers
Man your bundled up, it was T-shirt weather today here in southern SC. Only lived down here 2 years now from living in Ohio my whole life. Winter fishing in the kayak is very comfortable down here. Definitely be trying out your new rigg
Thanks for watching
That is awesome!!! Will be placing an order soon to try out the Ozark Rig!!! Fishing Coach Jimmy really likes them as well!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!
They are so
Good
Thanks for the video and presenting a new rig! Awesome day of fishing, no doubt. Put my order in asap. Love everything from Core Tackle.
Awesome
Just ordered 4 packs of the 3/16 oz and subscribed. Can’t wait to try em out. Thanks Matt!
Awesome! Thank you!
Very well done. Great innovation coming from you and Core Tackle.
Thank you very much!
Impressive- can't wait to try it. I'm a kayak angler and these kinds of rigs where the weight is combined with the hook makes rigging and tackle storage much simpler when on the water- which is the name of the game when you're on a kayak. The fewer pieces of terminal needed- and the simpler it is to rig up- the better. Can't wait to add these to the arsenal. You guys make a wacky/Neko solution, and an underspin, and I can just about fish Core Tackle exclusively.
Wacky rig coming!!!!
@@MattStefanFishing Can't wait- I saw someone talking about swim jigs too- I'm excited to try all of your stuff.
I ordered some for a tourney that’s on the Sunday after thanksgiving. Hoping it makes it in time. I plan to use it on a Hellgrammite bait. It’s a cold clear river that has smallies.
You should get it!
Wow. I gotta order some of these. Your really creating some awesome new baits that I know will catch em up here in P.A. right now as well as probably anywhere in the country. I think the possibilities are endless with this hover rig style technology. Can't wait to try it.
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the video with only the boat and your skills and experience.
Thanks for watching!
Nice job, Wisconsin has so many hidden jems. Cool hook design.
yep!
Ordered some yesterday. I have my own ideas on how to use them in certain situations. Looking forward to trying them out.
Hope you enjoy!
Dang Matt thats awesome! I think you nailed it on that rig! I'm definitely going to try it out. Thanks for another great video. You da man bro!
You bet!
I've had dreams about fishing that weren't as this good! What an awesome day man! New lake, flipping for big largemouth, all by your lonesome. The dream!
For sure!!
Great to see some product demonstration out on the water, I have a feeling that this is going to be a hit. Will enjoy trying it out here in East Texas, around some timber and grass.
Awesome!
So much fun seeing you slay some bigguns in the cold on a bait like that. The berkley creature/bunker hawg is my go-to Wisconsin flipping bait as well. It even caught me a surpise of a 35" pike last weekend.
That’s a good one
Hey Matt so that means this bait has a cam action when you set the hook that's awesome good job bro I'll have to pick some up that gliding fall is what triggers those big ones. Thanks for the video and God bless.
It hooks them so well
Very Very cool. Bait and lake. Thanks for sharing. Order coming soon.
Hope you enjoy it!
I'm liking that lake a lot too. Gonna go fishing with ozark flipping hook from core tackle
Appreciate good stuff.
Good luck!
Great alternative to the Texas Rig and looks to be easier to fish in structure and grass. I like the tip about using it with a swimming worm.
it works great!
I was going to ask with a swimming worm. That's a staple for me. Nice
Awesome video, and definitely will be ordering some Ozark rigs to try soon.
Right on!
Great video! Love the little rig, sweet setup.
Thanks! 👍
Love the “rig”! Always like flipping tubes with internal weights. Love the glide and spiraling action it creates.
Awesome!
Check out the Owner tube ewg hook. Or make your own with any spring lock hook and a bullet weight
Nice bait, nice batch of bass, good video Matt 🤛
thanks!
Who’s #1, this guy and the ozark rig! 😂 can’t wait to get one!
Haha!
Solid day even when it’s cold. Love the vids.
thanks!
@@MattStefanFishing I struggle bad when it’s cold. Last year I went 2 and a 1/2 months without catching a bass and probably went out 8 times. I’m going to try this method because you’re a pro and you say it works. Tight lines.
I am absolutely adding this to my arsenal ASAP. Same with the creature hog. Thanks Matt for another great vid
You bet!
Good video! Nice bunch of fish, I would be happy with them in a tournament!
Me too
Can’t wait to get some of these lures to try this technique on my lakes in south Mississippi.
should work great!
Man those look great. What smaller size did you say were coming out. I’m going to wait for the smaller size to drop before I make another order. You guys are dropping some awesome terminal tackle. Thanks for the video,Matt
there are two sizes a 3/16 (i used in the video) and an 1/8 oz. both out now on the www.coretackle.com website
I just placed another order and can’t wait to use the Ozark rig.I found some Yamamoto hooks that have the weight( rubber coated) along the shank, but this is designed much better 😊 there’s plenty of smaller lakes in the Raleigh NC area to put the Core Tackle to work 😜🍀🎣🍀
Good luck!
I'm pretty sure Hover Rigs will work anywhere. I catch saltwater trout and redfish and flounder with them.
I’ve been looking for the weighed hook like the ozark. Perfect
Awesome!
I've been home making a version of this to use with Z-man plastics for years. It works great. I hate to see the secret getting out.
They work great!
Yep, not sure why he called it Ozark unless he learned there. Because we've been doing this by nail staking for years.
It does simplify it for the guys that don't like to fiddle. When U read the title I thought he was going to show off the no weight swivel rig.
Never heard of this before but I like it for sure... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Thanks! Will do!
The lakes I fish don't have a lot of grass. Mainly rock and lay downs. This looks like it will work just great. I love the hoover rig.
It will!
I ordered mine last night. Gonna try the TUSH also.
These look great and I bet a 12" magnum worm would be a decent setup to try on this too. I will have to get me some of these and nice catch!! Thanks Matt!!
Yes they do
Amazing rig been catching fish like crazy in 40 degree weather in Illinois on this
Very cool
Looks if it works. Thanks for sharing 🎣
it does!
It’s like a flipping hook but BETTER just ordered three packs of each wgt. I fish very small highly pressured lakes but produce trophy’s! These core tackle baits target the niche for these specific areas! Great stuff from you and the gang Matt keep it up!
Hooks sorry lol
Best of luck! Thanks for the support!
If I didnt know better I would have thought you were in Texas or something… good looking head and I need to try some of those!!!
I found a good lake!
Real fishing with this great boat! 😍
Thanks!
I've been doing a similar thing with those black and blue creature hawgs except I just use a weighted hook with a keeper
sounds good
Just got mine in the mail and performed well in the test tank. Can’t wait to take it out to the home lake and start pitching with it.
Question - threading the lure on was pretty straight forward, but how do we take it off without damaging the lure?
you can stretch it back down the hook but easiest way is to cut the line and pull the bait up over the tag end of the line.
Ah ok. Hopefully the number of catches justifies the retyping. Thanks Matt!
Can't wait to get the ones I ordered! Also, just got those gloves! Thanks!!
Glad you like them!
Sweet 😎🤙🏽 Haha reminds me of the Flying Lure! 😃😂
Thanks for watching
@@MattStefanFishing Of course man I watch all your content it’s great! 👊🏽😊
Well, Matt - looks like you found a new play pretty! That lake is going to get familiar with you. 🤣
Oh yes!
Always fun to pull up to a lake you’ve never fished with no pressure to perform.
agreed!
Looks like it would be a low pressure lake! Keep that one a secret! Looking forward to giving the Ozark a try.
Yep
Great looking rig and will definitely check them out. Also which War Eagle boat is that? Nice little setup with the jet.
Thanks! It’s the 648DV
Such beautiful golden bass!
Agreed
I like that lake too lol. A ton of action
me too!
Looks so good underwater. One question, to change colors is to cut and tie again right? Trying to fully understand the setup.
Ooohhhh I see. Guess I should watch the entire video lol. Definitely trying this.
Nope you just thread a new bait on
would love to see this over in the UK for our perch, zander and pike.
We are talking to a rep over there
@@MattStefanFishing thats great to hear
Thanks Matt, Can't wait
Awesome!
🍺Enjoyed the video. Fun looking lake with some quality bass. Ordered mine a few days ago. I purchased over $60 worth to get free shipping🤠.
Hope you enjoy it!
I like it! Fishing it old school!!
Right on
I just ordered mine i hope you guys come out with a 3/0 hook I can't wait to see the jig
we probably will!
What line were you using ? Good video 👍
15 lob Berkley trilene 100% fluorocarbon
Nice I like it I like the lil boat u set up too
Me too!
Did he mention what brand hooks? Or where I can buy them. I live on Toledo Bend and this is the ticket! Thank you sir for all the tips and sharing your knowledge.
Core tackle Ozark coretackle.com/products/new-ozark-rig
I just ordered me some I am so looking forward two getting them
awesome!
@MattStefanFishing I been using the tush kook on my swimbait for a min I love them so I know this is going two be a great hook because am like you I thank when a bait glides down just looks more natural
Safe to say you found a nice little hidden gem. What did you have a 15 lb bag? That ozark rig looks like something id like to try here in Florida as well!
probably more like 16-17 lbs!
Matt, I passed you going over Leo Frigo Bridge yesterday morning. Where were you headed?
My parent in laws house
This rig should fit in great with my fishing style. Order incoming!
Right on!
Thanks for the tips..
you bet!
😮looks like it would be great on many soft plastics! Especially a fluke or big worm!
Definitely!
Hey Matt, love you channel and love your content! Quick question on the Ozark Rig, any reason why it would not work with a Senko? I confess that I skimmed this video, so I apologize if you covered that
Works great with a senko
I think you will be going back to that lake!!
Yes sir
Nice looking rig! How does it skip compared to a traditional skipping jig & trailer?
Skips great!
I really like your boat, and hey no electronics, thats fine👍
Yep
What an awesome lake.
Yep
I cannot wait to try these out, I'm going to place a large CoreTackle order once the swim jigs come out. Save you some money on tax filings ;)
Awesome
The design is good. I fish something like that for my floater trout.
Awesome!
This is a fantastic idea! Just placed an order, can’t wait to get it out on the water soon! This should be deadly in the clear water
Awesome! Thank you!
that's a great looking rig i just ordered some
awesome!
