We love all your videos Matt and can't believe that you are still able to do one a day. Obviously, you really enjoy doing them as it shows in your enthusiasm. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
That’s where the 2-3-4 a day videos come into play with a 14-18 hour drive to an from tournaments not like the name riders who have someone drive the truck and boat so they just jump a flight and on the water in and fishing in a hour.
Great info Matt. I have caught more underspin bass with #2 (uphill bottom contact) than all the others combined! In stained water I’m convinced it has to do with the clatter of the blade on the bottom. This technique also works great for bank fisherman as they must fish it uphill. Appreciate all your content Matt.
Didn’t realize how much I missed the retrieve videos. The tightline and football jig pointers were new to me, and really made me think. Ill be using these! Thanks Matt
I use basically the same retrieves as you, letting the blade tink off a rocky bottom is probably my favorite and most productive presentation. Especially this time of year, rock holds heat- so they're usually around rocky areas- I like to use a Deps Frilled Shad because it has a much more subtle action than a paddle tail- and that looks more natural this time of year. But a fluke works pretty well to- I just want something with very tight, subtle action. The MB spark shad is another winner this time of year- for the same reasons. Throw it out and retrieve it so slowly that you don't think the blade is turning as much as just tinking off the rocks- they tear it up.
Wow, I feel smart. I already use those retrieves. Watching your videos along with others has really increased my arsenal and catch rate. Thanks for the tips.
Late winter early spring this has been my go to for years. I do the stop and go retrieve but handle turns much slower than you. I have counted it down to depth or waited until it is on bottom then started slow retrieve that I pause every few feet. Thank you for another great video.
Matt, if you’ve done a video on this I can’t find it, but when it first starts getting warm in a few months can you do a video where you fish the shallow flat bays that warm up first. You’ve talked about it in the past. I’d love to see it in action
not going to lie the Berkeley underspin is super sneaky. caught numbers and BIGS on it. great hook as well. it just gets bites down here in GA on largemouth
My favorite winter technique was an under spin with the berkley havok the jerk. I've only got a couple bags left though so if you happen to have any in green pumpkin or white you want to send my way that would be great. 😂
Never really fished them that much, but I will start trying it out. And that crawfish comment on the second retrieve got me thinking. To cold today the rod will just freez but heading out tomorrow on the local river, and will at least lock it in for an hour or two. And as a person that kinda lives in the north it's nice when coldwater tips actually include coldwater. xD As always, appreciate your knowledge and resilience. Big ups and have a good one. :)
I know I've hooked many bass (and other species as well) on the marabou road runners, the OG underspin, while fishing for crappie and white bass. They did so well that I bought larger ones and had success on schoolies. I am very fortunate now to have good quality underspins, as those commonly available at that time sucked for quality. I'm so happy you got a good one that way!
Have you ever tried "stiching" ? I was wondering if you've had any noticeably higher success doing it while tight lining? Thanks for your time Matt... and merry Christmas to you and your family!
@@MattStefanFishingI dont know you're sense of humor but this comment makes me think of Todd Snider's Statisticians Blues. Check it out, you may think it's funny too.
Does TW have those lil swimbaits cause I really like it ? It’s short but a lil fatter I really like it , plus I like the whole rig very nice looking rig , that would work good here in south Louisiana
they have a large internal weight transfer system to increase casting distance. that weight does move some and create sound but its definably not a loud rattling crankbait with a bunch of BB's or rattles in it. I hope this helps. www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Dime_10_Crankbait/descpage-BKD.html?from=MSFG
My skills transition from underspins to spinnerbaits. That's how you become the best in this game. In fact, hardly used them. One look at the underspin and I know how to build the best spinnerbait. Lake Pro guy and I could make millions upon millions of dollars.
Having a pro in the coat pocket is such a blessing. Learned a lot- thank you once again
You are so welcome!
This video again is proof of why this is the BEST bass fishing outlet on social media today. Thanks!!
I appreciate that!
Matt, you know I'm a big follower and fan of yours. I have to say hands down best channel on TH-cam for everything bass related. Keep it up my man.
Thank you! Happy Holidays!
Your retrieve videos are the best fishing video series on TH-cam! Great video, Matt!
Glad you like them!
Matt, I think you’re putting out the best fishing videos on the Internet right now. I always look forward to your next one.
Thank you!

I have minimal experience with underspin lures, but you’ve made me want to try them again. Thanks!
Go for it!

Had some respectable days on Chickamauga in the winter dragging a small swimbait on a underspin head ……. Great video
Very cool!

good stuff Matt, my favorite channel by far. Good luck this campaign!!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video I was wonder about these techniques for underspins
Glad it was helpful!
Ive been crushing walleye on berkley underspins in the river. Bass is closed, walleye is open and biting. Filling my freezer day by day. 😂
Do you eat bass? Is it worth eating? My local waters are overfilled with 1lbers

@@aneedmorehead9006 No, I don’t eat bass. You can, but I don’t eat them. I’m a walleye and perch guy.
@@holdengamble Yeah, they’re good underspins. Good hooks on em to. Lots of sizes to choose from.
Sounds great!
Best video series 👍
Glad you think so!

Caught a 7.72 lb bass a couple weeks back (my pb) on a crappie underspin, 4 lb test. Now im fascinated with em haha.

Just picked up some underspin swim jigs hoping for a 50degree or so to try them out 👍🏻
Nice!!
I thought this was one of Randy’s videos when I saw the title. 😂 He does a lot of 90% of fisherman get this wrong vids.
Oh boy
We learn a lot from your vids, Matt. You might consider saying "most" instead of 90% because everybody knows a tossed out statistic is false.
It’s the name of the video serious on retrieves and I’ve addressed the title before
Everybody’ a video production critic😅
