I'm curious as to how you have Wyll, Karlach and Halsin while having Minthara in your party. Did you just ignore the druid-goblin conflict entirely or was there some other method you did to get them all together?
If you pick up wyll and karlach and leave them dead in camp for a while, you can do things that would 'raise their approval' and get them back up to an agreeing level. Halsin, i don't know
You can keep Wyll and Karlach and still recruit Minthara later on as long as you ignore the quest where you have to save/attack the Tieflings. Attacking the Tieflings will make Wyll and Karlach leave, saving the Tieflings requires you to kill Minthara (yes, Larian completely forgot about the non-lethal damage feature, it is the exact same as killing), but if you ignore the quest, Minthara will kill the Tieflings, and Wyll and Karlach won't get mad at you. But you can never have Halsin and Minthara at the same time, because Halsin refuses to join your party until you've given the Tieflings save passage
Honestly Gale shouldn’t have assumed it was his duty to “teach” Minsc. Like there are more important things going on, also it’s not like we can’t clearly communicate with Minsc. He’s not stupid or incapable. He just has a limited vocabulary and cares more about doing then talking.

It's more of an easter egg world setting from the devs. The whole idea of Minsc/Boo, actually If you ever tried to dig deeper into his lore with him like with everyone else you'll find him quite deflecting about himself, anytime, really. On top of that his dialogue lines are, shall we say, carefully designed to be in his favor and sometimes leading to him being condescending in a passive aggresive way(but with a smily face and Boo, of course), constantly. I think this whole idea of the hidden thorn with Minsc and Boo is Larian's way to tell players to just relax and enjoy an rpg without going too sentimental or prying on each character's lore. Also a power play, imo, to show that even as freely as the game goes, players can only choose from whatever the developers have served up and nothing more.
Same, there is nothing there if I go back to him now. I had Gale, Halsin, Lae'zel and Karlach I think. He doesn't have anything about Astarion or Shadowheart for me even after completing their quests.

@@SentientHoodii the infection maybe, but I don't think petrefication affects statistics. Then again it never said how long ago it was when Jaheira left him for dead.
It's because he's established as a ranger in his backstory from BG1 and BG2. The character would be unplayable as a high strength ranger because it would ruin his other stats while providing next to nothing, no extra AC, no extra HP, most usable weapons wouldn't get any bonus to attack modifier from STR, all you'd get are STR saving throws. He's absolutely conceptualized as a barbarian. He was inspired by one of the Baldur's Gate dev's DnD characters and that character was probably a barbarian rather than a ranger. What the hell?! I didn't get this for Astarion! He just said something about it not being nice to talk behind some people's backs... or to their face, when I asked! Buuut I did ask about the companions before I had taken him out with us. Maybe that's the problem?
I don’t know. I got the same as you and I’d already got several conversations between Minsc and Astarion. Astarion didn’t even show up as an option to select for me until way after the others
@@donglegs did you beat Cazador before recruiting Minsc? i thought that was the problem for me D:
@@crow_5086 Nope, I did it late. All I know is the dialogue triggered some time after Cazador, but not immediately
Interesting, in my playthrough he seemed to be too scared of Astarion and Shadowheart to speak about them behind their backs
Did they happen to be Ascended and Dark Justiciar respectively?
@@hitsugatatsuro9978 neither
He apparently doesn't speak about companions whose quests are already finished (irrespective of the outcomes)
@@weltraumkotzeHe references Shadowheart being free of Shar here though, which suggests her quest was done
@@thedapperdolphin1590 he also says she's still split between two sides and he thinks she's freed herself. That seems to me like it's just what he says when she didn't kill nightsong, since this will always turn her away from shar. When I finished her questline he had the line about not wanting to speak behind or in front of her about her.
I just love Minsc, he is so wholesome 😂❤
7:52 I remember Keldorn... I liked that old paladin of Torm.
Aye....But at least he died well. Fighting for what was right with courage and honor. Now he serves as the right hand of Torm.
@@SpiralpaladinThis is why I shared tear for him reading his ending.
When Shadowheart changes her hair, Astarion comments that it looks nice, but she still doesn't have the best hair in camp.
I have to agree with him; as much as I love my wife, Minsc is clearly the winner.
Minsc needs a hug. Hes too adorable
I love this man.
I love minsc and i bring him everywhere for moral support
I was so confused when he called Halsin puny.
Well I don’t remember seeing him anywhere 😮
Love how he knows what halitosis is but not posterior
I'm curious as to how you have Wyll, Karlach and Halsin while having Minthara in your party. Did you just ignore the druid-goblin conflict entirely or was there some other method you did to get them all together?
There used to be a bug which allowed folks to
Get both halsin and minthara but it was patched out in the last update
Minthara sheep heist
Minsc is a real one
Honestly Gale shouldn’t have assumed it was his duty to “teach” Minsc. Like there are more important things going on, also it’s not like we can’t clearly communicate with Minsc. He’s not stupid or incapable. He just has a limited vocabulary and cares more about doing then talking.
Misnc isnt a Ranger. Minsc is a Babarian with an animal companion
minsc is precious
Knowing this is Matt Mercer, I find it difficult to immerse into the character. All I see is Matt at his table doing another character.
That's by no means a criticism, at least not a real deep one. But all I see is Matt.
Thank you for sharing.
So strange that your character looks exactly like mine LOL
For some reason I wanna play as an half Orc with the same body time as Minsc and set my intelligence as low as possible but my Dex and Str as high as possible. Why think your way out when you can just bonk your way out....
I got very mixed feelings about Minsc in this game. Compared to himself from earlier games he's stupid. Minsc, in fact, isn't stupid he's just bad with words. But now he's also wise. It takes a lot to write a character who is stupid but wise at the same time.
That's it. Minsc is my son now.
It's weird, in my playthrough Minsc wouldn't say anything about Astarion, I can't remember the exact wording but he basically said "Hmmm, I don't know, sometimes it's better not to say anything" or words to that effect, and then the option never came up again.
I was romancing Astarion, no idea if that makes any difference
Called Shadowheart a moon witch, lol
I love Minsc entirely too much. Honestly, I’m kinda glad that I can’t romance him because I would jump at the occasion immediately and would be unable to move on or romance literally anyone else. And I’d have to break my strike of obsessive Astarionmancing and I don’t wanna drop him either, you know? But Minsc… he’s so Kronk-coded, I love him too much 😭
But... you've seen my hamster?!
wait how you befriend this guy? on my playtrough he was part of the absolute worm controlled, and even unlethal damage that knocked him out.
when i came back to the sewers to check him out his previously unconcious body were now full fledged corpse.
You need to have Jaheira in your party, it is part of her personal quest otherwise you can't befriend him as i know
Ahhh, good thing i'v had no time to sit down and play lately, i can roll back that easiliy. sines my main character is hunter i have been completelly neglecting jaheira.
@@syrenet her quest also reveals some backstory about what happened before the game started!
@@yakovradloff
You don't actually need Jaheria in the party. All she does is give you the hint that Minsc is recruitable by telling you to not kill him (so use non-lethal damage), and her presence allows you to skip skill checks that the Emperor imposes on you to recruit Minsc. She helps a lot with recruiting him, but is not necessary to do so.
You didn’t get options for Wyll or Minthara because they’re in your party.
Can’t believe I can recruit Levi Ackerman
Does Speak With Animals work on Boo?
No. And your character will even act confused about it.
You know you can record videos with obs and it's free so you dont need to have a bandicam logo at the top : ) still a good video tho
That mouse is "us", I guess
Hamster*
It's not. You can rescue Us in Act 2.
This was glitched for me. For Astarion and Shadowheart, he only said it’s not nice to speak behind their backs. So the game was probably acting like the two of them went down the bad path, but they were good in playthrough
Can we talk about this hamster?
What is up with this hamster? It can't be a normal hamster.
Also... i love his reaction when you tell minsc about the orb... it's truly amazing XD
Of course it’s not normal. It’s a Miniture giant space hamster!
its literally a space hamster, even Lae'zel confirms it, you cant understand it with animal speech because it doesnt speak an animal tounge.
@@MyViolador In my game she said it's an ordinary hamster, since there are no miniature giant space hamsters
It's more of an easter egg world setting from the devs. The whole idea of Minsc/Boo, actually
If you ever tried to dig deeper into his lore with him like with everyone else you'll find him quite deflecting about himself, anytime, really.
@@eddiecollins7665 Damn... you dig deep with this metagaming stuff...
Why do I have entirely different line for Astarion...
Minsc is hotter than Halsin, and he's got just the right amount of dumb. 😍
It's too damn bad that you can't romance him! ☹
That was very gay of you to say.
@@fjalarhenriksson How kind of you to notice! 😄
Sadly Minsc's sexuality is justice.
@@YumLemmingKebabs That's fine.
I'm good with that. 👍🏻
Matt fucking Mercer is at it again. The only time I don't want him to be too, the OG voice actor for Minsc was so good
I only got to ask him about 4 characters, and none since. Weird
Which 4 characters?
Same, there is nothing there if I go back to him now. I had Gale, Halsin, Lae'zel and Karlach I think. He doesn't have anything about Astarion or Shadowheart for me even after completing their quests.
@@ninjificusi wonder if he says nothing IF you finish their quests
I figured it out if it helps. Switch out people from your party, it seems that he only talks about people not in your current party. Hope this helps.
Minsc hands down was the most entertaining character in the series, I just don't like that they knocked his strength down to 13 when in bg1 and 2 he had 18
he was a statue for a century and then infected. maybe that affected his physicals.
It's unfortunate conceptually, but I'm sure Minsc would tell you that his only regret in life is that he lost 100 years of kicking the butt of evil doers while he was a statue.
6:20 What happened there? He doesn't say the lines. Bugs?
I think so.
What about Minthara? I can see her Right there!
Even Minsc is smart enough to not Talk about her behind her back.
Why does Minsc have more dialogue than all the other companions put together lol
I feel like they made minsc a lot more goofy than the old games.
The tone in the first two games was more serious over all.
My game seems glitched or something where he won't give any opinions on characters. Or maybe that's because my game is modded where *everyone* is in the party? I dunno.
🤷♂️
It seems to happen if you complete that companions main quest.
He doesn't seem to about all of them. Never seen an option for Astarion, but I've seen all of these and Gale.

You have to turn on non-lethal attacks so he doesn't actually die.
@@Asri_i'm 90% sure that doesn't actually do anything and it just counts them as desd
@@Nixahma It worked for me. Keep in mind that non-lethal attacks have to be melee weapon attacks.
@@sirkylelennify No, I know, but whenever I knock someone unconscious, the game responds as though I killed them narrative-wise, I can't wake them up with healing and I can loot their body the same way you would a corpse, even though the ui *says* they're at 1hp and knocked out.
@@Nixahma Oh, yeah. If you knock someone out with non lethal damage they only wake up after a long rest. But in Minsc's (and a few others) case he'll be back up right after the fight is over and you interact with him.

sounds line you need a virtious butt kicking, evil one
Well, that was painful. A bumbling fool conversing with a rodent. He gives me an immediate headache.
there is kinda a trope about a dumb idiot with a sword whose animal companion(or divine mount), has a higher int(or wis) stat than they do and basically has to do all the characters thinking for them. if they ever get separated from the 'animal' they revert to a complete idiot(as in suicidal levels of stupidity or 'if all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail'), with the 'animal' they are far more competent(and potentially insightful). it is an occasional odd justification for giving the 'animal' ranks in knowledge skills on occasion, but mostly it works as an oddball character concept for one shots or just seeing the characters stat sheets and deciding to realy lean into that for the rp aspect of the game.
You attempting to sound smart does not Convince me. Try again in 10 years when you might have managed to read one Easy to mid book.
@marthachampagne316 I'm pretty sure he was the OG of that trope.😂
I mean yeah, he seems to be for people that want someone who's even less intelligent and more wholesome than even Karlach. I'm not judging preferences, of course, but it's for sure not my preference. Minthara, Lae'zel, Astarion - now THAT is the wholesome team i can get behind.
