My jaw dropped when you made this compilation. I don't hate compilations, it's just, uh.. too early, way too early for this. Even Linkara waited longer for stuff this.
...it's been a week. I'm uploading it so I can clear my review project file. It's getting real slow. Ain't any arbitrary rule on when it can be released, plus it doesn replace existing content. I've got a review planned; just too busy at the moment to tackle it with university
the way i like to think about the whole "trailer skeleton" lore wise is that theyre a more experimental combiner, lacking the 6th member that devestator has while not as refined as bruticus, that and their lack of real coordination means they need this specialized "combiner frame" to help ease things together
@@MeowsclesPrime ik this was introduced much later on but it was nexus prime who makes combiner technology, so a combiner team requires either more members (like monstructor, who was a mess, and after millions of years of refining got devastator) or a skeleton like menasor, or the enigma of combination which works wonders, altough it still requires coordination, but not as much as a natural combiner like superion (im just making stuff up based on what ive seen and makes sense)
Just as a heads up for anybody looking for this set: Magic Square's doing a release of all 5 Stunticons in a matte finish as a box set. Scheduled for January 7, 2023 according to their website.
Actually kinda like the idea of a combiner skeleton as a way that transformers that don’t naturally have the ability to combine can become a combiner. Basically their would be natural combiners (such as the constructicons) who combine naturally though the gestalt system and the skeleton combiners (such as the stunticons) who need assistance in becoming a combiner. I think it could an interesting plot point.
Like maybe the "artificial combiners" being one of shockwave's experiments with menasor being his first rodeo with making artificla combiners hence why motormaster takes his trailer with him at all times and why menasor is so unstable as a combiner
I always thought the skeleton system on Menasor was a neat way of characterising Motormaster. With him and his trailer making the real bulk of Menasor, it feels like his ego as "king of the road" on full display. In his mind, it's all about him, which is why the other team members amount to little more than gap-fillers - he just doesn't really care about them.
I think the biggest reason I prefer the Legacy one (other than that Legends just isn't my thing) is that Motormaster isn't necessary for the combined mode on the Magic Square one. I like the skeleton system, but if you're gonna do that I at least think that every member of the team should be necessary for the combined mode to work. With Magic Square you can have the full combination with Motormaster just hanging out on the side. With Legacy you need the main robot to make the combined torso.
My issue with UT Bruticus was the drop in quality, the first 2 were great but then Onslaught came out and his Plastic got stress marks everywhere and then we got the last 2 and OMG what happened, so in the end I boxed the upper body and just displayed Brawl and Swindle as they were good Just like you Doc I love this set it is may main desk toy and I cannot not mess with it, It is so much fun
This was my first video of yours I have ever seen, and wow - I love your style! Your editing, your review style, your humor, it all just really clicks with me! Can't wait to scroll through your uploads and catch myself up lol
The only thing I can say about the combiner skeleton argument is that if you are going to use one, don't pretend that you aren't by fake-forming Motormaster's toes. It'd honestly be better to admit to the cab forming the entirety of the legs.
I made an origami set of transformable stunticons, i kinda wanted them to combine in a more tactile way( like the CW version) but i also added Motormaster ' s traile r as an individual component, carrying the combiner rest and hands, but instead of forming the whole body, the trailer forms the thigs and chestplate, and big m forms the bulk of the torso. I inspired myself on this version, its not very popular, but i think its great none the less. I wonder what you think of my version?🤔
Revisiting this video a year later and the NewAge Menasor is still nowhere to be found but I've also grown my legends collection to now about 40 or 50 figures with mostly Magic Square but a few NewAge, DX9 Mini, & Siyang figures thrown-in. Hard to believe what happens after a year haha, love your videos!
I used to be in the camp that combiner skeletons are lazy. If companies are going to go through the trouble of engineering masterpieces of figures, why not spend the extra time making them combine without assistance? And then I got X-Transbots Monolith... Sure, the transformation is by no means a walk in the park and slapping the cars on a skeleton is pretty boring. However, all of that concern was instantly dashed as soon as I saw it complete on my shelf. It is beautiful and if the transformation were easier (and mine wasn't glued together by the previous owner) I probably would convert it back and forth. Combiner skeletons or at least combiner partsforming can be a blessing if used correctly and I would have no issues if this becomes the standard going forward. Except MMC. I want them to keep producing the amazingly engineered "all-in-one" combiners. Even if they are smaller, they are arguably the perfect combiners.
While this ultimately isn't for me, I gotta say I'm impressed, and much of this, to me, DOES indeed apply to Legacy Menasor on lesser scales, who I'm glad you still endorse glowingly, just that it does pale in comparison to this. Have your thoughts about Legacy Menasor changed since finally getting Breakdown and the Zeta Superion review?
@@DrLockdown Good to hear. Was just wondering that if your opinion on Menasor as a whole improved or something now that you have all five. And really kinda glad they went this route for Legacy. Always gave me vibes of those core Megazords combining with a larger unit to form a Super Megazord. Coz i'd get them sooner...if I didn't get Victory Saber first 😅
After watching this, it still boggles my mind that Hasbro didn't include optional toy style heads for Motormaster and Menasor when they released the toy deco Stunticon box set. Still a fun set though, and MS Menasor looks equally fun.
You have no idea how many times I’ve used Cromulent in conversation. I don’t know what you’re smoking when it comes to your dislike of the word, since it’s actually quite fun
My issue with the skeleton method has nothing to do with partsforming. It’s the fact that it’s just a guy wearing car armour. It just feels boring to me
This and the Legacy version are the only skeleton combiners I tolerate. Skeleton combiners piss me off because it doesn't feel satisfying to have a large chunk of the "combination" be done by an external skeleton (especially one that can't do anything else). But if the skeleton can do something like turn into the trailer, then I can cut some slack. But pull a Zeta, and you can kiss my money goodbye.
Hey, doc. I have a question to pose to you: Does your legacy motormaster have a crack in either of the hinges that his arms move on for transformation?
I honestly want to hear your opinion Dr. Lockdown, when Legacy Menasor is fully completed, do you think that he'll be better than his Magic Square's counterpart?
It's more than that though: as fun as the modular partsforming of legacy menny is, it just doesn't compare to the insanity that magic Square's trailer goes through.
"In this household we stan GirlDM." Absolutely based reviewer. I don't watch her Twitch (glory knows I barely have enough time to watch vtubers here on youtube) but her edited videos for youtube are hilarious. Anyway Menasor looks pretty great. I only have Legacy Dragstrip as he's the only one of the Stunticons I was interested in. Maybe if I could ever find Motormaster cheap somewhere I'd get him too but they're really the only ones I care about. The only combiner I really want is a Devastator as I really like the Constructicons.
this guy, debating if i want to buy him or not. I'm not a Menasor guy more of a Bruticus. so I hope that the MS Bruticus would be as affordable as MS Menasor.
I'm not sure about the quality on bruticus. So far onslaught and brawl look good, but swindle looks overcomplicated as shit. Then the aesthetic options boil down to "buy two different versions", which I dislike
So weird when I see people use footage of a GO train hahaha. Like of all the trains or public transit in the world, to use footage of a GO train that’s used for regional transit across the Greater Toronto Area. Nice.
If having a skeleton makes Menasor not a real combiner, then he’s never been one because even if you go all the way back to the original g1 show, you can see that he’s a skeleton in that too
Not buying it. Since I got my copy of the g1 version back in 2021, I've always disliked the mould. It's very dated, not like the scramble city combiners
I know you frown upon such yearnings but after your reviews I do so wish there were voyager and deluxe up scales of these. Ah well, Legacy it is(stupid truck can feet grumble grumble)
Personally, I just hate the combiner skeleton style of combining. Not only is it lazy (no matter how well the skeleton is designed) but you're not getting the full experience. You're not getting the full MotorMaster experience but your getting the Fire Convoy experience with a different super mode. Does it really matter if he's two bots taller? Literally all traditional combiner is like this, plus MM is literally a truck next to low on the ground cars. He's going to be a gaint next his time and it even works with the team dynamic! Yes there are multiple ways to make a combiner but, when you cheat with a skeleton and just shove the one that's meant to be the main body into the backpack ROTF style. You're missing the best part of the combiner. While other combiners have had extra parts to complete the combination. The Stunticons never had more than the typical combiner parts (head, chest, hands & feet) the skeleton isn't even in the same ball park. It just skips the leader bot all together, hell why even bother with the skeleton at this point? Just make an accurate all-in-one MotorMaster and just have him come with an armless/legless Menasor. Sure he's not even apart of the combination anymore but it's better than being a shoved in the back afterthought.
No, no matter what Bumblebee is still the most boring Transformers movie. Hell I say the worst one. Over hyped as Hell. And Top Gun Maverick isn’t sub par, it’s great and this is coming from someone who really doesn’t like the first movie.
