Quintessential Canadian Rockers April Wine to be inducted to Canadian Music Hall of FameThe Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is pleased to announce the induction of hard-rock band, April Wine, to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. In 2009, the group marked its 40th anniversary a celebrated span of time that has produced an impressive repertoire of hits among its 16 studio albums all which have surpassed gold status. April Wine will receive their honour at THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Sunday, April 18th during CTVs live broadcast.
April Wine formed in late 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but vocalist/guitarist Myles Goodwyn, guitarist David Henman, drummer Ritchie Henman and bassist Jimmy Henman soon moved to Montreal. "Fast Train," their first hit, appeared in 1971, the same year as the self-titled debut album. Jimmy Henman left soon after and was replaced by Jimmy Clench. The next year brought the band's first Canadian number one single, "You Could Have Been a Lady," from On Record. David and Ritchie Henman left before the next album, Electric Jewels, could be recorded; they were replaced by Jerry Mercer and Gary Moffet. After April Wine Live (1974) and Stand Back (1975), Steve Lang replaced Clench, who left to join Bachman-Turner Overdrive and later Loverboy. In 1976, The Whole World's Goin' Crazy became the first Canadian album to go platinum and their resulting tour was the first to gross one million dollars. Forever for Now appeared in 1976, followed by April Wine Live at the El Mocambo in 1977. Guitarist Brian Greenway was added that same year, making the band a sextet. After 1978's First Glance and 1979's Harder...Faster, "Just Between You and Me" became April Wine's biggest U.S. hit. The single (one of three Top 40 American singles by the band) propelled 1981's Nature of the Beast to platinum-record status. Power Play followed in 1982, and 1984's Animal Grace was their last album. Myles Goodwyn recorded his first self titled solo album in 1988. Four years later, all the original members joined for a Canadian tour, which convinced them to resume recording. "If You Believe in Me," the band's first single in eight years, was followed by 1993's Attitude. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide - เพลง
Most underrated Canadian rock in roll band. In my opinion.
Jerry Mercer awesome drummer this band killed it they just don't get enough recognition
Hi I'm Mike from Calgary.
My First Girlfriend was the nice of Jerry Mercer !.
I remember when April Wine came to Calgary and the band would have dinner at his sister's house.
I was too young to go to the show , but after they moved away, and when I was 16 years old my first concert was April Wine !!
I agree 100 percent
April Wine = GREAT contributors to the 1970s rock-n-roll music soundtrack and culture. RIP Myles Goodwyn!!
Definitely the Soundtrack to my early life.. Rip Myles..
@@lynnking2338Likewise here.
Universally liked. They had something for everyone.
@@megametal8641 Absolutely!!!!!!
@@lynnking2338Sadly underrated despite several great hits. RIP Myles
April Wine was one of the most underrated hard rock bands of all time. Such a talented group of guys
They’ve sold millions of records and headlined 18,000 seat arenas and opened for The Stones twice.
@@richardandre866 far from underrated
@@65armadillo I saw them in a sold out 7500 seat arena in 1981.

I always wanted more from April Wine because they were such bad asses. Unbelievable rock from the 70s.
Come on Rock and Roll hall of fame, this band earned a place.
1000%!
Damn straight!
April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 4 weeks ago! 🤘🇨🇦
They absolutely do belong in there. T the RRHOF is a complete joke.
You better believe this band belongs in the hof along with Boston & Foreigner
Good Lord.....it's 2024...and this song STILL ROCKS!!!!😂😂😂
My all time favourite April wine track
I love the way they throw that lead around.
"Just between you and me" April Wine ROCKS!
I'm 82 years old and my hubby and I use to rock out on this song all the time. He was 22 years younger than me, but we both loved April Wine. He's dead now and I'm still kicking....rock on!!!

My heart to you both. Stand Back and go Harder Faster to find The Nature of the Beast and do it with Animal Grace.

Rock on Lela!!!!! You know good R&R when you hear it. Been drinking from the cup of April Wine for 40 years. It's just as good today as it was back in the 70's and 80's. Rock on Babe!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds familiar ! haha "they'll get used to it" ;)
Such a great freakin' rock song. Such a great band. R.I.P. Myles Goodwyn.

One of the very best Canadian Rock bands ever along with Triumph, Rush and many other talented bands. Sadly they deserved much more covering than many other "mainstream" bands.
you got that absolutely right. they are so underrated but very underrated here in Canada which really sucks where as a band like the Tragically Hip are huge in Canada, don't get me wrong the hip rocks but Canadian bands like April Wine,54-40 are so underrated. 54-40 I think are amazing, they have so many hit songs.
What really hurt them was they never had the right producer/engineer to really bring out the power/energy in their music. It would have made all the difference!
I get your point, but I would respectfully disagree. I grew up in Canada, loved this band to death. I live in So Cal now and used to be an engineer, session musician, grammy award winning songwriter and produced some albums, all due respect they needed someone like a Terry Collins that put Rush over the top. Don't get me wrong they were/are awesome but I'll never forget seeing them here in LA at the house blues and the place was empty, maybe twenty people, it was sad, trust me even a Bruce Fairburn (sp?) could have put them on the path to world wide domination!. Thanks for replying btw.
rush suck, its totally inferior to april wine ...its just that they were better connected to merchant's media hype...rush is boring, its a band for girls of the 80's
Kind of tired of all the Canadians coming down and making it big in the States, particularly given some of Canada's screwy one-way immigration policies, but the talent is s-o-m-e-t-i-m-e-s undeniable. Canada gave us these guys, and Triumph!
We were coming home on a long 11 hour drive when this song came on. I looked over at my wife and she said she remembered this song. I cranked it up very loud! Our son in the car was like what the heck. I loved April Wine as a teenager and it was my go to high energy listening music. Nostalgic moment beyond compare! This one, Gypsy Queen and I like to Rock were my go-to’s. The band had the gifted guitar talent of three bands all into one. This sure makes me miss my younger days! Then again, it takes me right back to them. Rest in peace Myles.
the 3 big canadian rockers from the 70's/ 80s. Rush, Triumph, April wine !
RIP Myles. Fly to the Angels.💯💯🙏🙏
Criminally under rated. These guys ruled my high school days.Always loved them!

You have to put RUSH for the best canadian band
@@alaindoucet8159 to be honest though, I think of Rush as more of a worldwide sensation that happen to be from Canada. Where the Hip and April Wine as strictly Canadian bands having endless hits in Canada (April Wine having about 3 moderate hits in America too).
