Saw April Wine open for Journey, Atlanta Rythmn Section and The Rolling Stones Sept. 78' Rich Stadium, Buffalo, NY, April Wine took full advantage! Lots of Canadians in the crowd, been a fan ever since!
Yes you're right, they had the formula down, but the A&R guy's didn't know how to market them. Such a loss, because I think they had a lot more to say. You can look at how the hairbands of the 80s copied their sound and made a truck full of money off it.
Best rock concert I’ve been to was April Wine. Criminal they are not in the a Rock and a Roll Hall of Fame. I could name over 30 April Wine hits that still get AirPlay. Just a great rock band. Great Canadians!
As an American, I didn’t know they were Canadian. All I know is , they kicked ass and I always found myself cranking up the stereo in my T\A and rolling down the road. Thanks for being a part of my rock and roll library. I’m thankful to have grown up in the 70s and 80s with such iconic bands.

One of the best quintets ever. Man I loved these guys! And - The Loop T-shirt is everything when FM took off the 50,000 watt blowtorch could be heard for 100’s of miles.
Saw these guys open for Styx at the Philly Spectrum in 1979. What an in credible performance. That was the first time I'd ever seen three guys step up and play lead guitars. (Hadn't seen Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet yet). Great show all the way around.
Saw AC/DC right after Bon Scott died around I think 79 or something...his replacement "Brian" cool voice too but nothing like Bon....anyway they came back with Back in Black a solid album .... Front role center Detroit Cobo Hall 40,000 Watts of power smoked the greatest weed that night.....and one of the greatest performances that I had the pleasure of witnessing, I will never forget!!!! The definition of rock and roll is April wine. This is what it's all about these guys were just jamming out and having lots of fun doing it and they were so goddamn good.
Yeah, Ricky made a mistake with the April Wine, “I Like To Rock””, but he made up for it by asking Alex to play that “Diane Sawyer” song. That must be off their “Motion Pictures” album. (purposeful mistake) Alex Lifeson is a great sport. All the guys in Rush have a great sense of humor (RIP Professor). Alex did play a little bit of that “Diane Sawyer” song of their’s though. That was nice of Ricky to give Alex a buck thirty six for cab fare, even if Lifeson had to pick it up off the ground. He did call Alex a drunk male prostitute, but Alex called him a kidnapper, so that’s only fair. There is a big difference between borrowing someone and kidnapping them. I’m not sure what it is, but Ricky told me there was. It isn’t Ricky’s fault that Alex is one of those big rockstar, living in his little dreamworld, playing his big fucking guitar. He should be used to this stuff, he is in a rock band you know? Just like Ricky pointed out before flipping Alex the finger, “he started it!”. Alex did start it all when he said, “I’m not a ticket agency!.” What kind of answer is that? Ricky even gave him the option of doing it the easy way or the hard way. It’s not Ricky’s fault that Alex chose the hard way. Ricky was ready with the duct tape though, because Ricky had heard that Lifeson was one of those rock stars that aren’t very approachable. I love Rush. They not only make some of the best music ever, but they all were down to earth people, with no big egos. That’s why they were able to stay together for so many decades as friends, not just band mates. How many rock groups can say that? Lifeson really helped make this skit funny and played some of that “Diane Sawyer” song. I really like that song. I’ve seen them play that in concerts many times, but I have never actually seen Diane Sawyer at any of the concerts?
I honestly had to come find the song because of Ricky saying that. This episode is maybe one of the funniest of all the seasons. Buying weed from the cops, hitting the column while backing out, giving a shit about the damage to his car missing a door ☠️☠️☠️
My dad use to listen to alot of Wine back in the day and I still have one of his records along with Rush, Trapeze, Blackfoot, Rainbow and many others..... Me and my buddy did the same thing. We called it "camping out " but it was an excuse so we could smoke and sneak around the neighborhood. Except, we built our fort out of bedsheets. There wasn't much snow in Houston, Texas, haha.
@@scottwilliams8334 Fucking rights my American brother hahahaha. Amazing music is amazing music.
RIP Myles Goodwyn. Thanks for bringing back my love of Canadian Rock N Roll with this track.
Saw these guys twice. They were so legit and fantastic live. Impressive band on any scale.
saw them twice also, April 9 & August 9 in the Soo
@@MrSvenJolihow long ago was that?
@@augustusgloop9330 ~1980
@@MrSvenJoli oh lol way before I was born lol
I'm 58 years old and jammed to a lot of southern Rock music was the outlet I needed to relax and plus no video games around
Heck ya! April Wine, Skynyrd, Allman Bros, Outlaws, Eagles... seen all these and had many more on vinyl back then.
I love how this song showcases them as a band that can do it all in just 1 song. This song is a masterpiece IMO.
2 different rhythm sections on it I love it.
*RIP To The Lead Singer*
His kick ass voice is going to live on *FOREVER*
Jerry Mercer is quite underrated as a drummer! 70's school dances and cruising till the tires fell off!
"Oooowatanite" ....
He’s not “underrated” amongst other drummers
Simple hard rock song. No gimmicks. One of the best rock songs EVER ❤❤❤❤
" Journey to the stars ... Rock 'n' roll guitars" !!!
The talent in this group always blew me away.
Just between you and me, This Band Made Great Music ❤️
She's a high roller, kiks it, Gypsy queen album kiks also, got that 1!
I won't tell anyone, promise
Rocking this shit for my late brother Chris!! He introduced me to this band and all things badass. He was always the perfect example of the 80s.
Cool jam. Cool, Loop tee shirt. A Chicago radio station FM 98. Back in 1989, I won a trip to Rome to see Paul McCartney, from this station.
April wine, Uriah Heap and Blue Oyster Cult was the first Concert I went to back in the 80's, and all 3 bands kicked ass!!!!!!!
This song and April wine are criminally underrated
But if they were overrated you'd be sick of them
Sometimes it's best to be underrated
I love April Wine but do you want to hear every f****** minute on the radio like guns n' roses and journey and Metallica
Nothing is more Rock'n'Roll than espresso, tabletop hockey and a rowboat ride.
Saw April Wine open for Journey, Atlanta Rythmn Section and The Rolling Stones Sept. 78' Rich Stadium, Buffalo, NY, April Wine took full advantage! Lots of Canadians in the crowd, been a fan ever since!
I accept being old now... because it means I got to be young then... 🤘
amen brother, amen
You are not old, just older
We are so Blessed to have lived in that generation!🙋♂️
@@DarrenFinley
They're so screwed when we're gone. 😂
🐺🤟
One of the most underrated bands in the history of rock music...
They did not get the recognition he should have
Definitely
@@slowdog9932 You must be one of the strange ones who thumbed this song/video down?
Thank you
Yes you're right, they had the formula down, but the A&R guy's didn't know how to market them.
Saw them open for Styx back in 76, great concert! the drummer had a moving platform that came to the front and he did his solo!
THey are in Canada's version, at least...so underrated!
As an American, I didn’t know they were Canadian. All I know is , they kicked ass and I always found myself cranking up the stereo in my T\A and rolling down the road. Thanks for being a part of my rock and roll library. I’m thankful to have grown up in the 70s and 80s with such iconic bands.
growing up in Toronto there were many Canadian bands that could get on the radio (Goddo, ) but struggled for U.S. exposure....
Trust me. you haven't lived until you've heard them live in concert. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
Seen them in Rockford , Il in the early 80's. Absolutely brought the house down!
Ican't even start to imagine...hair stands on end thinking about it
Guitar 'solos lick ass and they always have a big drum solo also
Hey Allan...nice meeting ya!
Saw em in Halifax in the early 80s. Great show 🤟
Love April Wine! Love the Tribute to the Beatles with the Day Tripper riffs with the Rolling Stones Satisfaction Riffs! Wish April Wine got More Fame. They are EPIC!
I really liked that riff, too. Is that something all bands did back then or just April Wine, if you know.
@@Scoutfbk if any band did you'd be hard-pressed to find one
Was just thinking about that same thing again. Was listening to the Damn Yankees and thought what a cool collaboration it would be with Boston and them if that makes any sense?
Truly Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So clearly I should have read the comments before I made mine... Thanks for clearing that up and letting me know I'm not crazy...
One of if not the most underrated bands of all time. Absolutely loved these guys.
I LOVE THIS SONG! I remember listening to it slinging stock at Kroger 869 in 1977! Mark Moulder, Eddie Cripps , Ron Hunter, you were there too! GOOD TIMES!❤
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there was so freaking many killer CANADIAN ROCK BANDS!! I grew up listening to all of them and had no clue most were from Canada! Wow!😱🤯 mind blown….. 🥳
👍🇨🇦🤘
I'm reliving the 80's today. Cause there is no other rock era. I like to rock. 57 years old and still kicking
I`m 65 and still feel like a teenager when I hear these tunes again.
@@brimet8688 Exactly. I never left the 70s and 80s. I hear this stuff and I'm right back there in middle junior high and high school. All anybody ever wanted to do was jam out. I still can't get enough of it. Boomers rock!
Hal McPheters I'm 58 & relating.
I'll be 50 in less then 48 hrs, Wait What!?!..DAM Lol... This song was released in 1980 I was 10 and had the biggest crush on my 16 yr old babysitter, as soon as my parents left, cars started pulling up, and within 15 minutes of them leaving songs like this were playing on stereo, coolers with ice and beer were in the back porch and I was having the time of my life hanging out with HS kids and taking those instant Poloroid camera pics with some of the hottest girls I'd ever seen..LOL..And THIS song will always bring me back there.. Pam where ever you are THANK YOU!!!!
I'm 57 and still diggin' it; who says ya gotta stop listening to your fave jams 'cause you get older ?
The way they finish that song off with two classic riffs is timeless. Really puts a stamp on it.
+Lance Manyon Exactly, it makes this song a classic to me forever!
+David Ummel A Little Day tripping Satisfaction baby!
rip off righteous!
One of the best quintets ever. Man I loved these guys! And - The Loop T-shirt is everything when FM took off the 50,000 watt blowtorch could be heard for 100’s of miles.
2024 One of the Best songs ever!!
Always makes me feel Good!!
RIP Myles see you on the other side
Saw these guys open for Styx at the Philly Spectrum in 1979. What an in credible performance. That was the first time I'd ever seen three guys step up and play lead guitars. (Hadn't seen Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet yet). Great show all the way around.
I also saw that tour, long beach sports arena
Styx shoulda been opening for AW...
( those were great days )
@@ronaldtownsend6296 so so jelly!!! Had tickets in ‘2006 to see them for 1st time. A major ice storm shut down whole state; we couldn’t get to venue. Was so disappointed, the show went on with half the venue full. Tickets were refunded; Malcolm and Bon were my favorite members. Gotta have that rhythm; the back beat rhythm. May they both R.I.P.
Me too at Cobo Arena ( of Kiss's Alive ! fame ) in Detroit . Both band rocked .

Yes ! And Roller is also a prime example. Check it out on TH-cam for a live performance ! Awesome
One of the greatest rock and roll bands ever
The definition of rock and roll is April wine. This is what it's all about these guys were just jamming out and having lots of fun doing it and they were so goddamn good.
I can't remember ever seeing a band with 4 guitar players....
@@scottpowell4342 Find The Outlaws, then play Green Grass and High Tides Forever, or There Goes Another Love Song.
Low key the funniest moment from Trailer Park Boys - when Ricky tells the guy from Rush he loves their song I Like to Rock
Ya.. funny shit
" play that diane Sawyer song"
Lerxst is the man!
Yeah, Ricky made a mistake with the April Wine, “I Like To Rock””, but he made up for it by asking Alex to play that “Diane Sawyer” song. That must be off their “Motion Pictures” album. (purposeful mistake)
Alex Lifeson is a great sport.
“That’s April wine” :)
I honestly had to come find the song because of Ricky saying that. This episode is maybe one of the funniest of all the seasons. Buying weed from the cops, hitting the column while backing out, giving a shit about the damage to his car missing a door ☠️☠️☠️
Im not giving anyone an "R"
One of the most underrated songs... from one of the most underrated bands... April Wine ROCKED !!
Thanks Syd!
This album is so underrated it.has so many cool time changes and dynamics its crazy
What an underrated band. Great guitars, rhythm and vocals. You guys rock!
April wine and triumph were underrated.
My dad use to listen to alot of Wine back in the day and I still have one of his records along with Rush, Trapeze, Blackfoot, Rainbow and many others..... Every once in awhile he sings, "journey to the stars...." you get it. The more I listen, the more I appreciate Wine. Killer tunes and in tune guitars...
I recently reconnected with some of April Wines' hits and 'God' these guys are so great and their contributions to Rock-n-Roll!!!! I hope the 'youth' of today understands, this is the true meaning of 'Rock'!! The song "I Like to Rock" is one of my favorites of 'all time'! RIP Myles!! You were a true Rock-n-Roll ambassador!
