Amazing looks great and yes 1950's Sci FI always looked like it might belong in 40K universe and thanks to you it will now :), Looking forward to thee whole army one day.
These look amazing. Recognizable, but still very unique. It also gives me some of my own ideas for personal projects and kitbashing techniques. Thanks.
Very nice work, the conversions really do look the part of how people back in the 1920s and 1930s thought the 21st century would be. I really like the de-cluttered look of the Rogal Dorn tank too, I was holding off on getting one but now I know what was bothering me about it, the unneeded details. Rock on!
Yeah, I had the same feelings about the Dorn - it's a bit too busy for my taste, but there's definitely a solid tank under all of the Gothic /Dieselpunk excess!
Outstanding conversions as always. Only thing I was slightly disappointed by was the lack of gloss varnish on the tank and robot. Retro future stuff is always so shiny and polished looking.
I love the idea of this regiment! I wonder if the adeptus mechanicus skorpios tank could be converted into a hovercraft chimera/taurox? Hovercrafts are very retro-future after all. Or there's the retro-future plane style for a valkyrie, jetpack scions, screw-drive tanks. So many options (A screw-drive leman russ would probably look cool)
Screw tank! Perfect! I just re-watched the Colin Furze screw tank build with my kid, so I'm very much up for that! As for the Skorpius, I've already had a play around with the idea in Photoshop and I think it's a goer.
4:28 Mark this down as the first time I've ever heard someone say "cotillions" in a 40k kitbashing video. In all seriousness though, fantastic work as usual, dude
I absolutely love science fiction from the 1830s through to the 1970s, particularly stuff from the 1920-60s. So much of it was just off the walls bonkers and often absolutely flipped physics the bird as it zoomed around land, sea, air, and space. Anyway, some very lovely kitbashes.
I always love seeing people kit-bash a new army or regiment, especially of the Astra Militarum. You are giving me the courage to soon kit bash my own regiment... soon as I find the time! Well done good sir
Not gonna lie, when I first saw your Dorn, I thought you kitbashed a 40K tank with a Sherman or T-34. You did an amazing job smoothing that lil guy out.
A superb job there matey, very impressive. I like those kill team Breacher figures, have a couple of boxes myself for something like this. Look forward to seeing some more of this army project 😊😊
These look great! I did a similar conversion with genestealer cult neophytes! Would recommend getting rid of the navy symbol on the chest though- even just the I part, it makes it really recognizable!
Very nice little force, you really nailed the retrofuture part and I would never throught of using navy breachers and kastellan for Guards before would fit that well.
For those heads, I can recommend the Wargames Atlantic Grognards line. They have cavalry, infantry, and command/heavy weapon, and all come with very similar hats. (Both with and without gas masks)
The dorn looks absolutely gorgeous without all of that tat hanging off of it. I wonder if the infantry would look good with a spot of red on them, maybe on the chest detail to help them look cohesive with the armour
Looks great. I imagine you could also use some Leagues of Votann parts as well as they've got a bit more of the curves and smooth edges typical of the retro look
Giving a 40k tank a streamlined look was quite the task, 40k models are not exactly known for simplicity. I love the end result. Are you gonna make a separate video for the painting process?
Thanks. It's roughly: Brown Primer (doesn't matter which, but Vallejo German Red/Brown), Mephiston Red, Black oil Wash. The metallics are Vallejo metal air gunmetal with a black oil wash. The chipping is just simple foam / brushwork with Vallejo German Grey. All of it is tied together with a very light all over pass of AK Streaking grime that's mostly removed with white spirit/mineral spirit, which adds a very subtle unifying coat of dirt/dust. Then the secret sauce (IMO) is varnishing with Gloss (for protection), then Matte Medium (I used Vallejo, but I doubt it matters), which gives a super flat look, and unifies the look of all of the paint. The glow effects were white undercoat followed by Citadel Kroxigor Scales Contrast.
pretty sure the belt for the heavy bolter dude also came from the baneblade kit, it comes with a couple for the heavy stubbers on one of the baneblade variants
i thought it was a converted arl44 or m6 heavy tank or something at first... not a smoothed over rogal. removing all those tiny bits really makes it look extremely different!
Hi, Chris! I like your army a lot. Fantastic use of the Anvil Brodie helmets. Have you ever seen Dave Taylor's Genswick army? It's a lot like what you did with this army, which is amazing.
These look great! I wanna make a guard based off of Raygun gothic/Atompunk. Those art pieces of ppl wearing Bubbles over their heads while holding ray guns. I don’t know where to start, but seeing these makes me want to experiment with some models.
Are you familiar with Warzone / Mutant Chronicles and the Imperial faction in that game? You’ll find some bits and models that would fit in here perfectly there if you’re inclined. Fun idea here!
Wow, you weren't kidding! I played a couple of games of Warzone well over a decade ago (maybe nearly 2?!) and I've very much lost touch in the intervening years. Lots of stuff there to look though / find inspiration from. Thanks for the heads up!
I really want to do that on a baneblade, because I'm an armor modeler and I want to get one 40k tank in my collection, but i always thought a baneblade, altho emblematic, is too barroque and would be too out of place with my other tanks, but making it more "fallout 50s" could be the perfect solution
thanks for the video, realling inspiring ^^ I have some garde to make one day... after the spaces marines and skitarii and orks... yes, I don't have too many armies, I just don't have enought time ! that's the problem ! definitly not my compulsion to buy interesting kit for "later use" ^^" At least, I have many bits for conversion ^^'
Holy moly. That 'de-cluttered' Dorn is inspiring. So simple, but so effective.
Yeah, it’s amazing how little things like no sponsons and a few greebles being removed can change jt
Yeah, it looks so much better
"Official part" made me chuckle.
BTW, awesome conversion on that infantry gunner!
Gracias! Yeah, I couldn't resist ;)
Amazing looks great and yes 1950's Sci FI always looked like it might belong in 40K universe and thanks to you it will now :), Looking forward to thee whole army one day.
Me too - may take a while at the rate I complete projects!
splendid - the red bushes really tie the lads in with the tank and robot
I LOVE these, they look so good. They take the "simpler" design aesthetic of a lot of classic 40k and modernize it too, which I really like.
Sherman spotted! Me happi!
Yeah, they hid one under there... it just needs freeing from the Gothica!
These look amazing. Recognizable, but still very unique. It also gives me some of my own ideas for personal projects and kitbashing techniques. Thanks.
Honestly the castelan sentinel could be some form of battlesuit
Very true, see Mantic Games for details there mate 😊
The editing is top notch! 👌

awesome glad you made a new Guardsman army, they look awesome
Thank you, much appreciated!

Haha, I've no doubt you're correct!
i liked this video, it was easy to follow, and nice narration, please show more creations, very very nice video
I absolutely love this. I've got a fairly kitbashed force of guard myself, and this is just giving me plenty of good ideas.
I love the sound for every part shooting off
Yes, great job. I like the robot. Guard forever!
Gracias.
love your idea! Now the tank looked really suitable for war.
Great kitbashing/modifications

Excellent humor and editing and a lovely kitbash! Kudos!
These conversion look amazing! I love the retro-futurism vibe
I do love those Kastelan 'bots - looks great here too!
Likewise - massively underrated miniature imo!
wow you work is such a hige qulitäte! time to binge all episodes!
Thank you very much!
Very fun idea, looks super fun, guard armies are always tempting...
Awsome guard theme and beautiful conversions mate can't wait for more of this army on your channel ❤
Thank you kindly, much appreciated!
This Channel has it all; Tips Tricks and Humor ❤
Thank you!
I always love seeing people kit-bash a new army or regiment, especially of the Astra Militarum. You are giving me the courage to soon kit bash my own regiment... soon as I find the time! Well done good sir
Great work! Really inspiring. I'm excited to see where you go with this army.
Brilliant! Looking forward to whats next
You make some truly wonderful videos, always happy to see them pop up ❤️
Truly inspiring builds there. I too have been a fan of retro sci-fi, and these models embody that perfectly! Now to just go and rebuild all my models.
These look amazing. I love this aesthetic.
Looks great!!!! Looking forward to your next video!!!
Damn, a robot as a Sentinel?
Absolutely Brilliant.
*BEEP BOOP, SON, BEEP BOOP*
Hell yeah! I myself am doing a NASA themed Guard army, using Anvil Industries' Gothic Void collection!
Yeah, they look great, In fact I bought a set when I picked up the brodie helmet heads - no firm plans for them yet, but I couldn't resist!
Plastic glue vs. fine seam lines is a great tip!
Love it! Really want to steal the Armoured sentinel idea!
Expanding the waist of the robot is brilliant
If i ever pick some up ill be doing the same
Beautiful work!
How have I never seen any of your videos before? This one was really good!
These are so cool, i need to kram more castelans into my kitbashed armies
Hi Chris! Always glad to see another Offbeat Builds vid! 😁
U used the Brody helmet heads from Wargamaes Atlantic "Bulldogs" box?
this looks amazing, cant wait to see more
Awesome build as ever, I do look forward to watching these.
Unrelated, any way to see what your gargant looks like now?
Thanks. Big Dave's in storage for the time being, as I'm a bit limited on space in the new place. To be fair, he is unnecessarily large! ;)
@@OffbeatBuilds it’s one of my favourite ones to watch 👍
Damn... So far I did not wanted to include Rogal Dorn amids my ranks, but now I kinda want it & stylize it further after T1 Heavy Tank. Love your work
Not gonna lie, when I first saw your Dorn, I thought you kitbashed a 40K tank with a Sherman or T-34. You did an amazing job smoothing that lil guy out.
Awesome production
Looking dope, I’m jealous of these guys 😁
Gracias!
A superb job there matey, very impressive. I like those kill team Breacher figures, have a couple of boxes myself for something like this. Look forward to seeing some more of this army project 😊😊
I've been using the plastic solar aux guys as my go to for retrofuture guard look, love the little diving helmets
I remember doing Goliath Gangers with stovepipe hats
Perfect. 10/10. No notes!
Chris, fantastic video 👌🏻👌🏻 all 3 units look superb
These are so darn cool. Well done mate 😃
Cool. Love the aesthetic.
Awesome job, my man! 👍🏻
wow! great conversions
Just finishing up a Sherman-Russ tank myself. XD
Haha. I had internded on not bring out too much of the "Sherman" in this build, but about half way through it felt inevitable! ;)
Nice video. A lot of productionvalue. You earn my suscribtion
Thank you, much appreciated.
Those look really cool!
Can't wait to see your take on the Lord Solar
For those heads, I can recommend the Wargames Atlantic Grognards line. They have cavalry, infantry, and command/heavy weapon, and all come with very similar hats. (Both with and without gas masks)
I love this project!
Love them especially the Brodie helmets
Retro-modern IG just makes me think of the solar auxilia
cool aesthetic
Gracias!
The dorn looks absolutely gorgeous without all of that tat hanging off of it. I wonder if the infantry would look good with a spot of red on them, maybe on the chest detail to help them look cohesive with the armour
Really nice kit bashing
Thank you!
To be honest , I'd love to see these as a 2,000 pt army
they look bloody fantastic! im always a slut for brodie helmets xD cant wait to see more
Looks great. I imagine you could also use some Leagues of Votann parts as well as they've got a bit more of the curves and smooth edges typical of the retro look
That's an interesting thought. I must admit I've not looked at that model range closely enough to be fully familiar, will have to do my homework!
Ooooooh...! A series! Me like!
Giving a 40k tank a streamlined look was quite the task, 40k models are not exactly known for simplicity. I love the end result. Are you gonna make a separate video for the painting process?
So cool!
how i was not subscribed ? love your kitbashes
Please explain the painting process for that kastellen robot, I love it!

It’s amazing
honestly I enjoy the idea of making a new gaurd regiment, I would love to do something similar to the daybreakers vampire soldiers but idk
That's a good shout - I always got strong "Colonial Marines" vibes from their uniform/gear, which is a pretty strong look ;)
Well done! I'd play against an army that looked like this any time
amazing!
pretty sure the belt for the heavy bolter dude also came from the baneblade kit, it comes with a couple for the heavy stubbers on one of the baneblade variants
i thought it was a converted arl44 or m6 heavy tank or something at first... not a smoothed over rogal. removing all those tiny bits really makes it look extremely different!
Interesting. I'd not noticed the similarity to the M6, but I think you've hit the nail on the head there.
Great vid i really like ur aesthetic, the rogal dorn tank looks so much better after u shaved all that unnecessary detail.
Awesome
War...in SPAAAAACE
Haha!
Radical!
This is my kind of madness tbh.
Totally going to de greeble my Dorn.
The ammo belt is from the stubbers on the stormlord
Hi, Chris! I like your army a lot. Fantastic use of the Anvil Brodie helmets.
